Awesome! Keep it up- push to that end goal!

I use my food scale for every single meal. I measure out liquids in a measuring cup and I weigh my veggies, meats & potatoes. I've found that things I thought were more calories are less and vice versa. Makes my meals better balanced and keeps me dropping pounds... <3 my food scale.

don't weigh yourself so often. Seriously. your body changes 0-3 lbs just through the day based on what you're eating and where your body is at in its digestive cycle. You should weigh yourself once a week (on the same day) just after you wake up. This will give you the most useful measurement. And its how the BMI & other…

If you keep with one thing for too long, your body grows accustomed to it. I try my hardest to mix up what I do every two weeks or so. Don't eat exactly the same foods, vary the exercise, etc. A few weeks ago I was below my calorie count (given by MFP) by 300-500 cal a day for 2 weeks straight. I was working out A LOT but…

Right there with you! I am starting TODAY. Going to do weeks 1&2 this week and 3&4 next week before spacing it out. (I've been training informally, hence the combination of the first four weeks) Let's keep each other going! My first 5K is June 4th - have you registered for one yet?

I just registered for my first 5K race. Its 5 weeks out, but I'm already nervous! I hope to be able to jog all of it, but we'll see where I'm at by then. Anyone have training tips/advice? Right now I can jog half a mile at a consistent pace, walk an eighth, repeat for 3 miles. I'm looking at the C25K programs too, but it…

For clarification's sake - I'm not talking a big step. I'm talking a 1.5 inch board, which you place your entire foot onto. It's part of physical therapy for ankle & knee patients at the medical center my BFF works at. Its slow paced but the repetition builds lean muscle and supports the joint. Respect those who disagree…

if you can do step I would recommend that. its low impact but aerobic and burns fat around your thighs and hips if done consistently. I step 30 minutes a day - for the last 4 weeks... and I am beginning to see results as inches fall away. I have a right knee injury which limits me and I've found this is effective without…

If weight wasn't a factor in your life would you feel complete (happy)? I feel complete/happy even at my current (heavy) weight... I have great family, friends, dreams... My fear, however, is that I won't be everything I have the potential to be if I don't get my weight down. So, here I am, working hard to burn calories &…

destress for finals/midterms & gain calories at the same time - every 60-90 minutes get up and take a 15 minute walk around your building/up and down stairs. Log your exercise & return to your studies with a clearer mind. Also, on exam days take the time to make an omelete or eat yogurt - proteins to keep your mind working…

I've got 70... 23... happy to support eachother.

I'm in grad school, but I have these same issues (went straight to business school from UG). Here's a few tips... 1. If you're on the cafeteria plan - get off as soon as you are eligible for a place with a kitchen. The amount of sodium & other 'fillers' in general cafeteria food will crush most large (20lbs+) weight loss…

If you eat right around what MFP suggests for you (in your food log), you'll be fine. There is a built-in calorie deficit based on your weight, lifestyle, and how much you want to lose per week. If you exercise, MFP adds those calories into your food log. So, for instance - when I'm CRAVING chocolate, I do one extra…

take your measurements. - do you feel looser in your clothes? - have you lost .25 in, .5 in, an inch?!? do you have your body fat %? Can you check if its changed? if you're going to the gym everyday and working hard, you may be building muscle and losing fat. Muscle weighs more than fat. If you're trying to lose weight,…

No worries - welcome to MFP! I personally ride (as you've probably noted from my above posting) 3-4xs a week, work out on Wii Fit Plus & Wii EA Sports Active, and take my roommate's puppy on long walks. I consistently follow my MFP food log and come in under my calories allotment. I've lost 7.5lbs in 2 weeks. Feel free to…

Since joining MFP (2 weeks ago) I've lost 7.5 lbs. And that's due to Wii EA Sports Active 1, Wii Fit Plus, Horseback Riding (which I was already doing just as much of), & walking my roommate's puppy (we've taken 4 long walks now that the weather is nice). So, yeah, I'd say Wii Fit is worth it. I find the aerobics &…

My Wii Fit is low by about 7 lbs.... but I think its our super plush carpeting. Makes it hard to do some of the exercises too... but I'm in an apartment so its not like I can change it. Any suggestions for stabilizing materials to put under it? I want something that's not super heavy and won't hurt my feet...

My beautiful horse. Cody & I have been together almost a year now. My weight (and adding to it) over the last 6months has been bad for us- as a team. I can't mount from the ground any more. I can't ride for more than 2 hours without my lower back hurting. And I'm 20lbs heavier than I was when I bought her. She's getting…

I am in a similar position as your son was - the blood test is not the end all be all- and most docs don't mention that to patients. And thank you for mentioning that going totally GF when you don't need to won't make a difference. However, wheat is in a LOT of products that people don't realize its in and choosing those…

you go girl! That's so awesome - and you did it just with diet & exercise, no extreme measures?!? That's wonderful. I hope to achieve those same results! (Entering week three! - 67 lbs to go)

best piece of advice I've gotten: choose a morning of the week to weigh yourself. (right after waking) DO NOT weigh yourself everyday or even twice a week- small fluctuations happen over the week- you are better off looking at the big picture, at the same time every single week. I do Mondays because if I gain, I have…

There's a whole group of us out here who are gluten-free (my necessity and/or by choice). I am gluten free by necessity. If you want tips or have questions about what to look for on food-labels to cut down on your wheat consumption - give a shout!

YEA! Horse lovers!!! Cody (my 15yr old solid paint mare) and I LOVE to ride competitive trail & western pleasure. For those that know paints, she's Miss Zippo Cody (Zippo Jack Bar) and for those that know reining (Old Joe Cody!) Can't wait until I shed these pounds - Cody will appreciate carrying 70lbs less weight! And...…

I have celiac. All my meals are gluten free... and I've come in under my calorie goal every day. I welcome any gluten-free buddies to friend me and see what I eat... But in all honesty, I find it pretty easy. Morning: Omelete - 2 eggs, pinch of cheese; Yogurt; OJ Lunch: Gluten-free soup & ice water (or ice tea, depends on…

Actually, MFP does a great job of taking your height, current weight & average day into account to set your caloric goal. I know this because a friend of mine and I are both on this site. Same height, different weights & average day activity - and MFP lets me eat more calories because my body needs them to function. The…
