51 lb in 8 months.

I'm 51 if that counts. Very happy to have older friends. I am doing this for health, not looks. I have lost 51lb since August last year. Good luck on your journey.

What a fantastic lady. Inspirational. You look beautiful. x :)

You're only 37 - that in itself is great - you are young. Make your mind up (which you have) and stick to it. This journey is about determination and perseverance. Never give up, no matter what. Always make space for yourself and your progress, no matter what else impinges on your life. Keep going and if you have a bad…

Hello Lynn! It is never too late. I am also called Lynn. I am 51 and in the UK. Last year I was 194lb and obese. Now I am 142lb and getting fit. My knees are shot, so I can't run. I am hoping they won't get any worse. I lift weights and do strength training. Add me if you would like a friend :)

That means a lot - thank you - you look fab

I don't follow any programme or go to a gym. I lift weights at home every other day, sometimes every day. I have arthritis, but it is transforming my health. Add me if you like. I have lost 50lb. I was obese last summer, now 142lb. Aged 51 so not your demographic though! Good luck.

I am 51 and have lost 50lb since last August. I was covered in cellulite but now I don't have any. I was a lifelong drinker and smoker until 2 years ago. What I thought was cellulite must have been just dimply fat. Exercise helps loads, especialy lifting weights/

Hi there, I have severe endometriosis. Advised by a doctor to reduce my body fat as Oestrogen is stored in adipose tissue (fat). I have other health problems. I have lost weight and my endo is 90% better. I cut down on carbs (especially refined white carbs) and upped protein. I don't eat meat. Good luck and I hope it works…

I have gone from a UK size 20 to a 10. I have given away half of my big clothes, but kept the rest - the really beautiful ones. If I were to regain the weight for any reason, I would never be able to afford to replace them. Silk dresses, lovely coats etc - all things that are cut perfectly and looked good on my big body.…

Yes. My waist is normally 30 inches. During period it goes to 38.

PS Jade - despite what I said above, I could not have lost my weight without my new friends on this site, who kept me going when I was losing heart. It's great here :)

Hi Jade. Now then, you just have to find it within yourself. You will do it. I have found some people supportive, but most people are not. Most of the people I come into contact with are fat, and they don't like it that I have lost 50lb. You are doing it for you, and if others supprt you then great, but be honest, it…

Hi - I have lost 50lb and have awful loose skin on my upper arms, thighs and stomach. I have been strength training and now have very muscular arms and shoulders, but I must tell you that it has not made any difference to the loose skin at all. The skin does not seem to be "attached" to anything and the muscles do not…

That is wonderful to see - well done Marla!

Great ideas - thank you!

Hi Buck. I am a compulsive eater, but have lost 50lb since Autumn by using this site, logging everything I eat, thinking in advance what I plan to eat, and not going too long without food. I have 5 small meals a day as I am up early and go to bed late. This has worked for me and I am now exercising as well. Just try to…

Wow - fantastic - congratulations :)

That is absolutely incredible and inspiring. Well done :)

You've done great! :)

I have gone from an obese 194lb to 142lb. People keep telling me I am so thin, too skinny, etc on a daily basis (not my family). Yesterday, a neighbour said "Do you actually eat anything?" and another man (who I work for) said "when are you going to stop?". I am 5'7" and built like a barn door. The only thing I can think…

I think they are 230 cals each. I used to drink them when I worked 12 hr shifts and couldn't eat while working. Now, in a similar situation I would have UFIT drinks instead which are only 166 cals and high protein. There are lots of other brands though - I buy what is cheap. I do find it acts like a meal for me :)

I agree with Nicki. Make a change in what you eat for life and move every single day. I have lost 50lb so far, but I know I can never go back to the way I was before, or I will put weight on. Good luck. Be determined and don't give up. Tell yourself that you deserve this change, and throw yourself in, and don't allow…

Good luck to you :)

I love to see people wearing anything they like. I wouldn't wear short skirts - not because I am over 50, but because I have legs like a carthorse :) You look good in your skirt, OP. Whatever you wear, if you own it, you will be happy.

I would just like to agree with everything this poster has said. I have been through the same experience.

I believe it overestimates. For example, for "heavy vigorous cleaning" MFP states 190 cals per hour. I do this for a job, and it is very hard, heavy work, and I don't believe it uses that amount of calories. When I counted even some of that work as exercise and ate the calories back, I lost no weight at all. I don't count…

This was just brilliant to read! Well done :)
