I'm late to this one! I've been in a bulk for about 6 weeks and I've gained about 5-7 lbs..(damn water weight fluctuations) normal weight is between 115-118 lowest body fat% I was at 13% before I started bulking I was at about 16_17% in maintance. currently 123-124lbs about 19% fat at 5"3 and I'm feeling quite fluffy. I…

Well I suppose a have a few options to try out. Either adjust my cabs permanently for a few weeks by lowering them and see what happens or just lower them on my off days and raise them back on training days. Finding what works for individual needs is such a pain. Thanks guys!

Thank you for your input.. I appreciate it

Last question, if I keep protein the same 0.8 -0.9 per LBM lower carbs can you go up to 40% fats? I've seen quite a bit the recommendation isn't to go over 30%, again conflicting info I've read.

No IBS or any other sort of medical issue. And as for calories I'm eating about 1900 calories which is not a lot according to numerous calculators. I should be able to eat about 2100. But I am petite and do gain easily so I'm just going to assume I have a slower metabolism and I may just need less carbs. I know fat gain is…

About 6-7lbs

I also do a lot of white rice because brown rice is one food I can't tolerate. If I need fats I add olive oil to my meats or salads

I do eat red potatoes and yams, I try to stay away from sugary stuff simply because of bloating... If I eat too much sugar or sodium, then bloat. I guess it's just inevitable. But as of right now I've gained about 2 inches in my waist, around my hips, gained an inch on my arms, 2 around my back, legs almost 2 inches. I…

Basically I eat fairly good, but since this is a bulk I do enjoy variety. I do include at least two to three servings of veggies, lean meats, one or two servings of fruit such as bananas, apples or grapefruit, eggs, oats, I notice I'll bloat more with bread so I keep it to a minimum of maybe a few slices a week. Nuts, nut…

Ok, well that's what I initially just assumed. Why does there have to be so much conflicting information.... So stupid. But I do notice when I have tried a lower carb intake on off days it does help with the bloating a bit.. I may just be a little carb sensitive. Guess if I want muscle I gotta just suck it up and in

Didn't intend it to be rude at all ... Sorry about that

I'm no expert but if your bulking up there's no need to cut bread out you need carbs. And you can still have beer and treats once in awhile.. It's bulking.. You should be enjoying foods you like. And drop the cardio.. You need to be doing heavy lifting. Check out bodybuilding.com they have tons of programs. How much…

You need to do a well rounded glute and leg program. Bodybuilding has many programs from some of my favorite fitness girls. Unfortunately to gain mass you cannot be in a caloric deficit. Your muscles need fuel and so finding your maintenance calories then adding in 200 calories will put you in a nice little surplus. Also…

I tend to be bottom heavy, I gain muscle and fat very easily in my hips, thighs and butt. I noticed when I was able to thin them out I was in a deficit, had a no sugar diet, one cheat meal a week, and my trainer had me doing higher rep workouts with weights, 15-20 reps 4 rounds. A lot of super sets too to keep heart rate…

Not but butters, can't believe I missed that typo

Never heard of this stuff... 3700 calories in one day does not seem appropriate either. I'm not one for taking many supplements. I stick to bcaas and protein powder. If I were you I'd just figure out how to eat more. Full fat products can help you, think milk, ice cream, nuts, but butters. Ditch the weird crap please.

NDJ1979 is right. Carbs are going to be your new best friend when "bulking". I just started a bulk about 5 weeks ago and I'm finding it hard to not go over my daily protein requirement. Protein is going to keep you full for long time periods that's why when you diet down to cut fat you eat so much protein normally…

I'm on my own designed program... I do have some input from a trainer I had last year who I had hired to help me with a cut. I'm more confident in doing a self bulking program so I didnt hire him for this. I'll stick with what I'm doing and monitor weight gain each week and adjust. I'm also going to try splitting my carbs…

Looking for 0.5 lbs a week want to make sure I gain minimal fat. The thing with the cardio is it helps me to get hungry. So I pushed it up from two 20 minute session to three 30 minute sessions. I'll go down to three 20 minute sessions. It also helps with the bloating too it seems.
-
Oh of course I lift! 4-5 days a week.. I've switched from higher reps during my deficit to upping the weight and lower rep ranges.
-
Thank you Tillerstouch, I know bloating and some fat gains are inevitable. I'm coming from a lower carb type diet. I'll just stick to what I'm doing and weigh in every week to assess how I'm doing. I find it hard some days to consume my calories with the amount of bloat and fullness I feel, so that's an issue in facing as…

Thanks. I entered my info on the iifym calculators awhile back... Maybe I should go back to that see what suggestions it gives me. Just thinking that anything over 150 grams of carbs is too much for me. I'm currently at about 115-120 grams of protein 50 grams of fat and 215 grams of carbs.
-
BTW I'm eating 50% carbs the rest is a 25 and 25 split. Maybe adjusting the macros would make me feel better? Maybe a 40 30 30 split?

For reals though? Breakfast foods, whole wheat bread, egg whites, whole eggs, oatmeal, cream of wheat, cottage cheese, fruits, yogurts. Lunch and dinners, chicken breast, ground turkey, lean cuts of beef, rice, vegetables, salads, mix in some olive oil and avocados, black beans, sweet potatoes, yams. It all depends on your…

Express jeans have a variety that is very stretchy yet keeps their form. My favorite are the midrise jegging. Ive gained 4lbs in 5 weeks with my reverse dieting into a bulk, mind you mostly in my lower region and these jeans still fit fairly well.

I started reverse dieting 5 weeks ago to get into a nice slow bulk while winter is still here. It's my first time attempting this.

He wanted to lean me out and I plateaued with the previous diet so I guess either he got lazy on me and did the typical no fat low carb thing or he really figured it was a good diet. This one didn't do much either though.. But I do know my body needs to come out of this. I am pleased with the results but now need to work…
-
I figured reverse diet was definitely the direction I needed to go and I have read up on it where I should only add in about 10 grams of carbs per day for a week then another 10 and so on while watching the scale and mirror. The initial two months my diet had a good amount of carbs and fats then the last 4 weeks he just…

I am in the same boat!! Apparently my maintance is about 1800 ...i have been at 1400 for a few months then dropped to 1250-1300 to not notice any difference in composition ...I am upping my calories to 1600 (replacing what I burn as I was at such a defeciet as well). I gain weight so easy so if I notice any significant…

3laine75, Thank you, the advice you gave makes so much more sense then infoemation I was finding on the internet. I am going to put my calories back to maintance for a few weeks to get my body adjusted to taking in more calories...then will see where I am at and push it up a few hundred more. I am also going to adjust my…
