  • She may be visually impaired and walking on the line so she can see it, the same way some drivers (who definitely shouldn't be driving) hug the line when they drive.
  • Maybe msh is gross burn. Mfp already accounts for your BMR so it converts to net.
  • Thanks everyone. I've got a very long way to go before I get there anyway but I wondered whether I'll "look" lighter than I actually am when I reach my goal because I'll have several pounds of skin. I'm currently aiming for the very top of my "ideal weight" bracket for my height, because even that seems very ambitious! And…
  • Because you've manually entered exercise that Fitbit recorded anyway, it makes an adjustment so it doesn't credit you with the walking twice. If you don't want to see negative adjustments, record your activity in Fitbit instead of mfp.
  • If you're new to running, still take breaks. You might not need to after every run, but you'll see better progress running 4 times a week than 7 to start off with
  • I'm not a mum so take the below with a pinch of salt. If she's old enough, have you spoken to your daughter to explain why she's being left? When your parents looked after her to start with, did she react the same? Does she have any toys or games she really likes that she can take with her? Can you associate going to the…
  • As others have said, don't run before you can walk. Once you can walk purposefully for over half an hour, (or if you already can) give c25k a go. When you start running, take it slowly. Your run can be as slow as your walk. You should be able to hold a conversation or even sing whilst running. My 'easy' run pace is still…
  • Really helpful! I plan 6 or of 7 days. If 2 of those are eating away from home for whatever reason I count it as being planned! That way I can prep veggies twice a week, move frozen bits from the garage to kitchen freezer and remove from kitchen freezer in the morning on the day they're needed. Makes shopping much easier,…
  • Running. When my house purchase goes through I'm going to start lifting though, which I hope I'll love. Then I'll have to decide which is my main activity. Probably running, at least until I'm close to goal.
  • If I have time, coffee. Otherwise nothing or a few swigs of water. Can't drink during exercise, it makes me want to throw up. I've got a 10k coming up though which doesn't start til 10 and it's nearly an hour away so I'll probably do a couple of practice long runs eating at couple of hours beforehand.
  • My go tos when I don't fancy 1000+ calories from drinking is either vodka and diet Coke (if other people order for you you'll probably end up with doubles so watch that) or Baileys on the rocks. Uni is great, but remember that you don't have to drink more/certain things if you don't want to. If your mates don't get that,…
  • Like, so slow that when Strava syncs with mfp your pace is listed as 'running on the spot' because they don't have a pace slow enough in the directory!! (Yes I had this this morning) Push through 'niggles' and tired muscles. Listen to pain. There's a huge difference and I found that as a beginner it was difficult to tell…
  • I run 3-4 times a week for 40-80 mins each time, walk my dog 1-3 times daily depending on other activities for me and my family, go to the gym 1-2 days for 30 minutes. When I move out of my parent's house I expect the planned exercise to increase as I won't walk the dog every day any more
  • Thanks, I needed a good laugh
  • I get shin splints if I run after a break from running, sometimes when I wear new shoes the first couple of times and previously when I was heavier I got them all the time. If you're new to running, aiming for every day is way too much. Go for 3 days a week, doing running and walking intervals if necessary, until your body…
  • It's a bit different having money of your own when you live in your parents home and have meals cooked for you, to when your money is providing everything you live off. I get the impression you still live at home and this will be the first time you're looking after yourself. In that case, unless you're happy to live off…
  • Fruit wouldn't take the edge off hunger for me. I'd either add full fat Greek yogurt or have a cheesestring or nuts instead. But if fruit fills you up, you probably don't need to change.
  • Around 6am although I just started a running club that meets at 8pm. I'm a morning or I won't bother sort of person
  • Once you've got to this stage, an extra day won't make much difference. I fell and had to take a week off between 7 and 8 and I still managed fine with proceeding to the next planned run. I had slight shin splints but they went after about a mile. Just take it easy. You could plan to do 15 but keep going if you feel up to…
  • I totally agree. It's like when "friends" moan about how overweight and disgusting they are because they ate a burger, then they look at you and say "oh, no offence" because ofc if they're disgusting, what does that make you? There's nothing wrong with recognising that you are not healthy and choosing to do something about…
  • Depending how quickly you've lost your 25lbs (congrats on that by the way!) I would recommend upping your calories. If fitbit reckons you burned 4000 calories, even if it's overestimating by 20-30%, you've probably got a deficit of about 1500 (2400 if Fitbit is spot on and your logging is tight) and that's well over the…
  • I twisted my ankle at parkrun this weekend because i didn't see a rabbit hole. Was gutted because it was my first parkrun and I was in course to run the whole thing! I'm not letting it put me off. I'll make sure it's healed properly before I run on it and I'm too worried about making myself unable to exercise for weeks to…
  • Weigh the end result. Put this as the number of servings. Weigh your serving. Add this number of servings. If your roast weighs 800g and you have 160 on your plate then you add 160 servings and day the recipe has 800 servings.
  • At the start of my journey it was largely aesthetic and being fed up of feeling ugly, although a lot of it was also not liking being out of breath doing one flight of stairs, not feeling able to run for the bus etc. I was having a bit of a dip in motivation over the last month and just two days ago got declined for income…
  • I'm looking at setting up a gym/office in the spare room of a flat I'm buying. Just wondered how big anyone's gym is? The room I'm planning to use is 9.5' square and I'll take 2' out from one wall for a desk. I'm only planning on having a bench, dumbbells and barbells, and space for floor work and yoga but would like to be…

  • Breakfast 3-400 Lunch 5-700 Dinner 600-1000
  • I'm not sure what you mean about conversion. If your food packaging lists things in grams, you should enter it in grams rather than converting. I lived in Germany for a year and logged here a few months of that, and I found most of what I bought was already in the database with correct information. If it wasn't, I added…
