I went back to try to find the article I mentioned about staying full longer. I think it is a pretty good one. Here's the quote on the chicken breast. I'm like Cindy, some chicken broth or something makes it taste better, but apparently dry is a good thing???…

Cindy, My thoughts and prayers will be with you this weekend. With such an amazing mom, I know that Luke must have been a very special young man. It's only right that you allow yourself the time to focus on dealing with his loss during this time. Emy

My goals for this month: 1. Lose 4 lbs to get to 180 2. Run at least 30 miles during the month 3. Continue weightlifting 3 times a week 4. Log accurately and stick to my calorie goal Lisa, I hope you don't mind me plagiarizing from your goals!

Thanks Lisa for reminding us this is the end of July! Where has the time gone?!? 1. I did log daily 2. I went from 191.8 on July 1 to 184 on July 31 so a total of 7.8 lbs lost! 3. Graduated C25K and I'm still running 4. Switched from muscle primer to Greyskull LP but continuing to do it 3 times per week. Made this goal…

Marielle, have fun with your mom! I wish I was toned all over but I have a long way to go! I am definitely seeing a difference in the mirror though. The mountain bike session sounds fun, but surely you didn't include alcohol did you?!? LOL! I think most bachelorette parties here do! I didn't know it was called a hen party…

Cindy, I will try to remember to ask her for the cauliflower recipe as soon as she gets back into town. She is visiting her parents in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and my youngest daughter is with her. They are camping right now for 10 days or so with no wifi, phone service. My daughter is probably experiencing withdrawals from…

I didn't get a chance to post yesterday, so trying to get a quick one in this morning. I did my run last night and it felt really good. I was able to improve my pace a little bit. Did my early morning walk this morning on my "new" treadmill. Husband found a used one that seems to work pretty well. Will do my weights this…

Thanks so much for the inspirational post! I just graduated c25k a couple of weeks ago. I used the time option, and I'm now trying to increase my distance to 5k. Your post gives me hope that I can do this!

Sounds like everyone had a busy and fun weekend! I had Friday off for the first time in a few weeks. One of my daughters is in Wyoming visiting friends, my son is in London/Wales/Scotland for a couple of weeks, and my husband and last remaining child went to visit family Saturday through Sunday evening! I so enjoyed my day…

Cindy, great job on the willpower and the weight loss! Lisa, so glad everything turned out okay with the kids. I bet they had a great time for the most part and probably learned some valuable lessons. They definitely made some memories and will probably tell their children the story one day! Marielle, great job on the…

Great job to those who had losses this week! To those who didn't, take heart! The last two weeks I either gained or only lost .6 or so pounds. This week I'm down 3.4 pounds.

All, Since we've been talking about lifting heavy, I thought this article might be of some interest: http://www.leighpeele.com/bulky-muscles-and-training-females-the-definition. There is a part two as well. Very interesting reading! Cindy, that's so great that you are wearing your jeans today! Today will be tough though!…

Lisa and Pam, thanks for the tips on the squats! I'm going to be watching some youtube videos. I also found a site with some exercises for improving joint mobility. The information is at http://syattfitness.com/athletic-performance/mobility-restrictions-squat/. I haven't yet bought Starting Strength but that is next on my…

Pam, great job! So happy you had a great weigh in! It definitely helps with the motivation doesn't it? Emy

Marielle, just read your post after posting mine. I have the New Rules for Lifting for Women book. I think it is a good book but the routine seemed a little complicated after the first stage or so. I read a good many forum posts from women who switched to Stronglifts because NRFLW got complicated quickly. Another good book…

Happy Wednesday everyone! Lisa, so sorry about the DOMS but it sounds like you and your mom are doing so great! It must be nice to have your mom as your workout partner. The workout that I was doing was taking a long time (about 90 minutes!). It was a "beginner" full body program from Tom Venuto. I liked it a lot and…

Maureen, I've read "In Her Shoes" by Jennifer Weiner. I really enjoyed it, but then I haven't remembered to look for any of her other books. I'm always looking for ideas for books/authors so I will try to remember her when I get ready to read something new, hopefully that will be soon! Thanks! Emy

Good morning! Lisa, enjoy your run. Y'all must be having one of our days there. It was so hot and humid here yesterday that I didn't go run until after 8 p.m. I would much rather go in the mornings, but I can't seem to make myself get up any earlier than I do now. Cindy, reserve champion is just second overall in her…

Forgot to update on the horse show! My husband agreed to splitting the time with me, and I'm so glad he did! Saturday went well. My oldest daughter was reserve champion in her division, and my youngest did really well for her first show with her new horse. I came home late Saturday evening and swapped off with my husband.…

Sounds like everyone had a busy and fun weekend. Lisa, congrats on the new vehicle and the new BBQ! You will definitely enjoy that I know. We haven't done much on the grill this summer. My husband has been working late hours on the farm and I refuse to learn to grill! LOL! I do almost all of the cooking for the family, so…

I found another good, easy recipe this week: Mom's turkey and peppers: http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/moms_ground_turkey_and_peppers/. I was not expecting a whole lot from this dish. Just needed something quick for my dinner, as my family was eating at my mother-in-laws. It was really good, and my youngest even ate…

I made a simple,, quick but delicous recipe last night: Ginger Glazed Mahi Mahi: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/ginger-glazed-mahi-mahi/ I served it with black rice (also called forbidden rice) and haricot verts. So good! Emy

Hope everyone is doing great this morning! It's raining here today, so my office mates and I are wishing we were at home sleeping in! It's supposed to rain all weekend, and my girls have a horse show! Better locate my rubber boots! Marielle, my youngest daughter's name is Sian too, but we pronounce it Shan (sounds like…

So if I count from last week, I'm down 1 lb, but last week I was up in weight. Two weeks ago, I was at 190.6, and this week I'm at 190. I've been bouncing between 189-191 for the past two weeks. Hoping that I will soon stay below 190. Still pretty happy though. I'm definitely losing inches. I think total I have lost 5…

Welcome to all the newcomers! Please feel free to join the discussion on the "Today I will" thread. That's where most of the action is!

Good morning all! Lisa, I like your definition of "clean" eating. That is basically what I have been trying to do since I started this process back in May. I feel so much better but it is difficult to keep up at times. Not because I'm not satisfied or don't enjoy eating healthier. I definitely do, but the planning,…

Well, I'm way behind! Had a busy weekend and a class at work yesterday, so no time to post or to even read much. I'm doing okay, just keep wavering back and forth between 190 and 191. Even was 189 and something a few days ago, but haven't seen that number again so far. I did weights last night and will do w8d2 of C25K this…

I'm up 0.6 lbs this week. It's my TOM and I had some beers over the weekend so I'm guessing both of those things have stalled me for now. Hope everyone else has had a great week and lost some pounds!
-
Siannah, you must have some water retention going on. I also gained this week as well so I can commiserate. Hopefully we will both have a better week next week. I'm still sore today from my fun run on Wednesday. I did my weights last night and made it through them all but I was definitely feeling the affects of the run.…

Well, I did the 2 mile fun run last night. I'm not sure whether to say it was a success or not! My friend, who's been telling me how slow of a runner he is and how out of shape he is, did it with me. He's about 6'6 with long legs! Let's just say his "slow" jog is a sprint for me! We managed to do the first mile in 12 min…
