  • I don't think it is true for everyone, if this were the case I'd have gained over a 160 pounds since high school graduation, which is not true, not even close! I am not saying it's good for you... or that it can't cause gain... but I don't think it's such a black and white matter for everyone either.
  • "Muscle weighs more than fat" A pound of muscle and a pound of fat are still, both a pound. Muscle is more dense, so it takes up less space, you look better and more toned. You might weigh more if you are putting on muscle, sure. But it does not weigh more in that sense. Here's just one example:…
  • Today is my 20th day straight of logging in! I can't believe I've not missed a day, and I've been able to keep up. Also tonight I can enjoy a drink and some wings, and because I've worked out enough to earn points I'll be able to have what I want during the game without going over. It's nice that I can put in some work and…
  • I don't think yogurt is that great to begin with, but I use greek yogurt and puree some strawberries and mix it in with a bit of granola, or I use it to make a smoothie. Could never eat it plain!
  • I never get hungover, so there is no incentive for me to quit! I want to drink almost nightly but can't, because I am hungry and use it for food instead. I'll answer your questions at the risk of sounding like an alcoholic. How many drinks were your typical average before you reduced? I didn't drink nightly but when I did,…
  • Sounds like my mother-in-law - jealous, has to come back on everything you say and put a negative spin on it. Yes, IMO a lot of women can be like this. I choose not to have a lot of female friends, to be honest. I had one that claimed to support me but everytime I lost weight and she didn't (we were weight loss buddies)…
  • I do the same thing - I get in all my fiber and protein, and my veggies and good stuff, but I work in a treat or a snack or something a bit "naughty" on most days. Congrats on doing so well and your 30 days on MFP!
  • Nothing like a visit to the doctor to get yourself motivated. My last visit wasn't so great either. If anything, I want to show him I can get my cholesterol down.
  • I used to weigh small but was flabby. I think you could do that for awhile to get some weight off, then maybe later start some strengh training to reduce the body fat and build up the muscle. Can you read while doing treadmill work or a stationery bike with a book there? May not be much but it's something. If not, at least…
  • Wish we could trade. I live in one of the hottest US places (job, not by choice) and it sucks, the 100+ temps and the humidity in the summer. I prefer cold weather, but I can agree some sun here and there would be nice huh!
  • Mine is usually good, but this past weekend was bad. I tried to eat something healthy at a restaurant, but he wanted to do this "2 for $20" deal to save money, which also included an app, he was cranky when I said no and it wasn't worth a fight in public. He thinks "once in awhile" is not a big deal but the problem is,…
  • Dude, you so have a good point. I want to have a skinny waist, arms, and legs. However, I have the booty and it will never go away even if I want it to, but honestly I don't want it to. Growing up I was told I had a huge fat *kitten*, but then once I became older I got a job and left that behind, I got compliments on the…
  • I am not sure. I am 5'0" and used to feel fat at 109. Well, I had a high body fat that is why. So this time I'm going to see how it goes, because I am tracking body fat and building muscle, instead of doing the almost anorexic diet and never working out. Right now I'm going for 125lbs, because it is a healthy weight range…
  • for me the hardest is the elipitical. I've only recently started using it - I feel like I'm a bit too short for it and it's harder for me to maintain my balance, things like that. Also, my feet always start to fall asleep. treadmill is definitely easiest. well, sit-down bike with chair type seat is easiest if I'm just…
  • I do that too! I have 2 pilates and 1 yoga, each have 5 10-minute workouts on them, so I will pick 3 of the workouts for a total of 30 minutes, it gives me a good mix.
  • I eat back all mine so far, because I feel the need to. I measure everything. I've lost 2.5 pounds in 2 weeks. Is it slow? Sure. Would most people hate to lose that slow? Sure. But I don't have a lot to lose, and it works best for me to go slow. My point is, do what works for you, and if what your doing stops working,…
  • I'm currently job hunting, but tend to work unorthodox hours. My husband was on a 2nd shift, and I'd stay up late till he came home. He works overnight now. It can be a bit rough when you work different hours huh?
  • LOVE hockey. My fave team is out, boo. Knew they wouldn't make it for quite some time. DH likes the Sharks, not looking forward to all his yelling and Sharkgasms. I like the Canucks too... but otherwise I don't care much since my team (Blues) are not playing. I love hockey though, can't wait until next season!
  • I miss it too. I can put it away. I never have a hangover and I drink a lot of hard liquor. It sucks. I measured out my one ounce of rum and was like, are you kidding. I usually have 3 ounces when a normal person has 1. Bummer. I'm looking into "Skinny" mojitos but still at 90 cals each, I'd easily drink 3 or 4.
  • Thanks everyone - great advice! Today's already looking better.
  • Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it. That is a good idea, I went over about 800 so it shouldn't kill me, you are right. I'm more determined now than ever to get back on track, but it does show me where my weak spots are. And YES please take the weather! I hate it, and not having our A/C is awful.
  • I thought that was the point of this site. I feel like if I'm not going to log everything, how is it going to help me? So yeah, I sure do!
  • Oh yeah when I was a teen I tried to not eat all day, eat one meal a day. Anorexic type thinking. Once I tried ephedra-Hydroxy cut, it worked until I had to move up to 2 pills, then I felt real bad, my heart was off with it's beating or something, it felt terrible so I quit.
  • Are your gym workouts pushing you, or are they just leisure treadmill walking? Are you sure you are eating enough?
  • I would not go so far below your calories, and it seems you haven't met a few of your requirements. I would definitely eat a snack that has been suggested - almonds, avacado, etc.
  • I might do a cheat meal or 2 if I was in maintenance. For me I'm just starting and I want results more. If I wanna eat something a bit naughty, I find a way to work it into my calories for the day. I love Reese's PB cups and candy bars, but instead of getting them at 270+ calories, I found some at 170 calories: 3…
  • I'm not sure, I know some people will probably never be a size 2, but they probably don't need to be. I think if you are using MFP to track everything, then as long as you are getting the appropriate calories along with vitamins, minerals, fiber, all that, then if you stay the same but are doing everything right, then yes…
  • Some people aren't happy with themselves but don't want to change, so they have to rain on everyone elses parade.

  • It gets harder, the bigger you are the more you can lose at first. I've heard of so many people who get to their last 5-10 and it gets more difficult.
  • you mentioned you were worried about too many carbs from bread? I too figured I must be on carb overload! If you have your diary set to track carbs, this can help. I have mine set to track carbs and when I log everything, I was really surprised. turns out I'm under my carb allotment everyday. maybe you can utilize that…
