The dietician that I met with advised 180 carbs a day but I found by testing my blood that this wasn't near low enough to keep my blood sugar in the normal range. I now keep my carbs to around 50 spread throughout the day. You have to find out what works best for your body.

Way to go! I have also surprised my physician with notably improved numbers. It is a fantastic feeling isn't it?!! I wish I could say that I have lost as much weight as you have.

I've been following a low carb diet for 10 weeks. Yes, I felt fatigued for a while and did go through a couple rather bad days but now I feel great. I have good energy. I totally agree with everyone's responses. There is great support and information on MFP. I especially found the book, Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution, helpful. You'll do great.
