Welcome, rayrhoads22!

Hi, At least you admit it. Some people fight me on it when it is clearly true--exercise causes water retention, which in turn, causes weight to stick around. It has its benefits, but will pull the body out of weight loss by triggering stress hormones. Just do nothing more than walk and occasionally "splurge" with exercise…

I'm doing a 1.5 day water-only fast, so that oriental style seafood sounds REAL good about now!
-
You talk from experience, aye?

Thanks again. I actually don't have much arthritis. The natural remedies (I've tried a few) have had no effect for me. And it makes sense. This, the doc believes, is from being a big guy for so long and doing some damage I didn't realize--only to have it now act up on me in an inflamed, localized way. I've heard lots about…

So here is what I will be getting on the knee: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=My-_nO4A9C0

Once you realize the peace that comes from OMAD (as you have), it's hard to ever depart from it. Unless a person is running from something in their life or else hiding from some truth.
-
Thanks. I'm good. Just hoping to drop back into more dedicated fasting to ease the inflammation (and for peace of mind). :-)

Not bad. Turns out, I have the knee of an old guy, a really old guy. Advanced arthritis from an old injury I wasn't aware of, doc says. That's it. He's going to be giving me Synvisc-One, which will be two injections, one every six months. I can live with that. Traditional steroid shots just don't work for me.

Thread has been updated. I'm currently taking some time off the weights to ease my joints. Only about a week though.

Welcome, Lynda!

Not sure. The first diagnosis said: "Pain plica tissue inflammation" but that doctor wasn't very good. Feels like a ripped meniscus. We shall see. It's the same side of my body that dad had his surgery. Since I had my left foot rebuilt as a big guy on the same leg as this knee, it appears we have weaker constitution on…

Good idea. You will tax your body and cause it to start storing reserves to prevent muscle breakdown, which will cause you to hold weight. You're doing just fine like you are.
-
Welcome back, Eldian. And it's great you've been doing something that yielded some results. Way to get back OMADing. As newmeadow mentioned, it truly is easier when you have ONE method that you use, it releases cognitive load and makes things much easier.
-
True. You wonder if things will ever be the same again. it's like a loneliness, a kind of torture. And then...time passes and the light at the end of the tunnel appears!

Excellent. My running days are over for quite a while. I see a specialist this week. I can no longer even trot down a hallway for longer than 3 seconds. But I love hearing about your running progress, not to mention the weight progress.

Well, this is the workout thread for those of us who OMAD and workout, but this will vary from person to person in intensity and type. I'm in a gaining muscle phase and therefore train to a different end. Someone fasting to lose weight should NOT do anymore than walking for exercise, generally. At a deficit, one must be…

Wonderful! Today was a ripping 8 sets of standing barbell curls (95 lbs x 4 reps per set), 3 sets of the rowing machine, and 3 sets of leg raises for the abs. I feel worked, but not worked to death. It feels good to tank back up after any workout.

Best advice I can give with regard to splurge days: Plan them around very special occasions because too much of a need for them to roll around again is an indication that they are overstaying their welcome!
-
Welcome back!

Yep, lots of great food! But of course, that's all the better an opportunity to grab your plate, selectively fill it up, get the beverage, and show everyone how it's done! :-)

Well, you actually may not need one. Your level of devotion and inner-peace is somewhat unusual. Most struggle a bit more with the process. You've taken to it like a fish to water from what I've been reading, and with that said, if you don't feel any need to cut loose or aren't experiencing any issues with losses, there…

Excellent loss. My ex had hypothyroidism and PCOS. You're doing super.
-
Thanks for sharing your experiences. It will be tough, but you can decide to stick with it.
-
Yeh!
-
You can. It does take one out of their comfort zone. And it's harder the further you have to go. My meal time is currently between 12 pm and 4 pm. Seems to work out best for me.
-
Hi! Welcome, ChaleGirl. Sounds like you are doing fine. You don't need to work out. Just live your life. You will continue to refine your approach as time goes on.
-
Nice to hear. My 4 1/2 mile run left me in pain the other day. I go back to the knee specialist this Wednesday. How is the family?
-
Yep. Drinking any kind of sugar will take you out of fasting. Even juices have that affect.

Like your weight loss track record, your mile times are also impressive!
