Sometimes I swear I am the QUEEN of hitting the plateau. I quit trying a year ago after hitting a plateau. It can really dereail you and take away your motivation to keep going. BUT, now here I sit on my weight loss and lifestyle change journey and all I think about is if I hadn't given up, I would be at my goal weight…

Just go easy today! You can still do things in moderation. Skip the jumping jacks for something less impact. Do the cardio boxing instead of that. Substitute in things that are upper body cardio, versus the jump rope and the other cardio that you can't do. Remember, she says the cardio boxing is great when you are battling…

Well, look at it this way... you have lost 14 pounds, and you are STILL LOSING! You don't want these clothes to fit you anyway, and if they do, not for long. Before you know it you will be fitting nicely in those 18's, and even then it won't be long before you have to trade down to a size 16. Don't be so hard on yourself.…

fitness magazine is a great source for free workouts, etc. I believe it's www.fitnessmag.com. Good luck!

Jillian Michaels DVD workout and it consistently kicks my butt. Great workout!

Have you had your cholesterol tested? I can't remember the last time I had red meat. I recently had mine tested and it said my good cholesteral was not as high as she wanted, but my bad cholesterol levels looked great. Exercise can increase your good cholesterol levels, as well as healthy fats, such as olive oil, nuts,…

I set my alarm 30 min before I want to get up. I snooze a few times to give myself time to slowly wake up. I have gotten my body to adjust to getting up earlier now and I am more awake. Today was my first day to workout in the AM, but I am glad I did. It was just some Wii Just Dance, so I can do my more intense workouts in…

Your diary isn't public... what kind of meats are you eating? Usually poultry products are lower in cholesterol than red meat. Fish is also good.

Throw in some fruit... add a package of already cut apple slices (30 cal) or cut up an orange and throw it in. Bananas are easy as well. I also have some string cheese with all of my fruit. Bananas keep you full for a long time. Any kind of berries are always good too. I am not the best person to ask. I eat the same thing…

One of my employees has the same thing... but I am also familiar with it because of my job. Dress warm and layer. Enjoy the new body!!!

I forgot to mention on the "too bad" that when you put the dog in too bad, there is no emotion. You simply say "too bad" and put the dog in time out. If there is no anger or emotion when you put the dog in their time out they will not associate the too bad area negatively. They will just see it as a time out. My cocker…

The idea is there. But when the dog is barking, purposly look the opposite direction and up at the ceiling. This sends a message to the dog that you are not interested in their behavior. Also, you can do what's called a "too bad" where you put the dog in a place where they are isolated from the group. (We use our…

We got rid of TV altogether a few years ago. It saved us so much money. Connected the computer to the TV so we can watch for free on ABC if we wanted, but we haven't done that in over a year. Now, for entertainment we play video games, like Wii Fit, Wii Sports, Just Dance, etc. Our entertainment is our exercise. It makes a…

I work outside most days... so that isn't it. And, I live in Texas... no way to get away from the sun... even in the winter! Not sure why I was so deficient, like I said. I work outside and I eat fortified foods. I used to be severely anemic growing up, and I grew out of that, thank goodness. So, I thought I was doing…

I posted a topic, called consult your doctor. Please read... you have no idea how important it is, or what changes they can help you make. Living proof, right here, that doing so could make a huge difference.

Check fiber content of your food. If you're worried, try a fiber one supplement. They have the stick packets you add to your soft foods or non-carbonated beverages. They don't gel up and you can't taste them. Also, if all is normal in the diet, remember what my vet says for my dogs. Nothing in.. nothing out. So, if you…

Could be your body adjusting. Everyone hits a plateau at some point. Keep mixing things up and it will break. I hit my first one early, just after losing about 7 lbs. Get your water, workouts, and all your calories in and it will break. You can do it!

It's okay... just pick yourself up and move on. I think the emotions stem from guilt, but you just have to let it go. It happened. Nothing you can do now? We all slip up at some piont. But the only thing you can do when it happens is take control and get right back on the bandwagon. Get in a good workout and do your best…

Guilty of every day weighing here. I like to see my progress, even if it's .2 lbs. I also like to know if I am at a plateau before it has been 2 weeks time. I want to be able to do something about it when I recognize that my weight is not shifting either direciton for a few days. Yes, I have my up days. But it usually goes…

I understand why some people feel complacent. This is part of the reason I don't agree with MFP allowing users to "eat back" exercise calories. You train yourself to work out so that you can eat more, which shouldn't be how it is. You should consume x number of calories per day, whether you exercise or not. If you…

Have you tried looking up menus online? We always try to pick a restaurant to go to ahead of time. Then, I look up the menu and find something that I know I will like and will fit in my calorie goal. My husband and I have tickets to see Dane Cook here in Dallas on Saturday. The plan is to go out to eat before the concert,…

That's rough. First off, congrats on beating a wonderful battle. That's a major victory for you that shouldn't be forgotten. Have you tried just strength training as you recover. It seems like it was a pretty major surgery, not to mention the effects of radiation therapy on your body. I don't know that your body is quite…

I would talk to him about how you feel and how his not supporting you is really making you feel. It's hard enough, like somoene else said, without people tempting you. All the meals out with friends. Food is so connected with our socializing and it's hard enough. I would suggest that you talk to him and let him know that…

Those are the only 2 Jillian Michaels ones I have or have seen. I know the Six Week Six Pack is available at Target (even though it says online only on the website!) My friend and I were going to try it and said... nah.. maybe after the Shred. It was going to be too much on my body (warding off shin splints right now as it…

Remember a few of my favorite quotes, when you have days or weeks like this (because we ALL do!) "Nothing tasts as good as thin feels." (Remember how grat it felt to lose those 7 lbs?) ""Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in getting up every time we do." (Just get back on track and forget the weekend.) "If you…

The 6 week 6 pack is definitely a great one to look at. A lot of what you did in the Shred is there, but it's a tougher program. It's 30 min of cardio intensive ab work. I plan on that AFTER I finish the Shred. Not quite ready for it now. I am on round 2 of the shred now. Good luck!

I would suggest, if you are going to do that, that you buy something 1 size smaller than what you are currently wearing. Something that you can "fit" into, but it's too tight to get into and wear out (I have an older pair of pants that I use as my guide.. I don't know what I will do after that!) When you see it fitting…

Describe extreme measures? Not eating enough could have been your problem. Then resorting back to your food problem could have caused the weight gain, as you metabolism was low. Eating a healthy 3 meals a day and losing slowing is the best bet. Extreme measures just don't work. The only way to do that is to incorporate…

CAn you belive that 1 bag of m&m's is most people's entire calorie allowance for the day? That's crazy. Why does everyone have to sell such big portion sizes?

I especially think the one about eating fruit and it cutting out your sweet tooth is very true. I eat a banana, apple slices and an orange every day and I can't believe how much I don't miss cupcakes or chocolate anymore. It has made an amazing difference in my cravings and helped me to cut out sweets altogether. Thanks…
