  • Candida yeast thrives on sugar and increased sugar intake can exacerbate this problem for many. My best friend suffered for years from candida overgrowth and inherent health problems that came with it. Eliminating sugar completely helped her.
  • All the ones already mentioned are great. I just got Down South Paleo and it's a beautiful cookbook.
  • Shredded Brussels sprouts sautéed with bacon and roasted sweet potatoes. So good!
  • 60 minutes of spinning and a lot of dog walking.
  • I didn't like the taste of most ketchup, either too sweet or too salty, but then found Sir Kensington brand. Tastes like homemade and only has a few ingredients with no HFCS. Pricy but worth it for us as little as we use it.
  • This! I cook from both her cookbooks all the time and have loved everything!
  • I like almond milk, a scoop of vanilla whey, a frozen banana, almond butter and a handful of spinach. Sometimes some ice cubes too depending how thick you like it. I drink one a few times a week for breakfast around 6 AM and keeps me full until lunch at 11:30.
  • Mahi mahi with peach salsa, asparagus and roasted diced sweet potatoes. So quick to just throw in the oven all at once!
  • So glad to have found this group and excited to share ideas! I'm passionate about nutrition and clean eating so it's nice to have a group dedicated to this topic.
  • Right now our locally grown strawberries are in season and I can't get enough! Also baby carrots dipped in guacamole for an afternoon pick me up.
  • I'm not sure about frozen recipes, but I love pickled green beans which keep in a pantry very well!
  • That's great weight loss was the solution for you. Even though I've lost all my weight and have just been on maintenance for quite awhile, grains and dairy cause inflammation in me (verified via food testing too) so it flares it right back up if I consume. Had asthma since I was 7 years old and after 32 years of it, so…
  • 30 day shred is a good place to start.
  • Great! Glad you found the cause of your problem!
  • Great advice! We loved the food (steak, salmon, lobster, great recipes, etc when we were doing it) and didn't even come close to our calorie count because we were so satisfied by putting nutritionally solid food in our bodies. What works for one won't work for all. I learned that by cutting out grains and dairy, my asthma,…
  • You are absolutely right! That's why it's so individual and I can only speak what worked for me. I choose not to fit pop tarts and cake into my eating plan because I felt horrible when consuming those. Hopefully the OP finds what works for her.
  • Whole 30 was life changing for me in terms of overall health, weight loss and nutrition. I don't eat grains or dairy anyway so it wasn't a difficult process. The above poster is right about looking at the low carb forum for more information. You won't find much support here in the main forums and there's more people there…
  • Pickled asparagus and pickled green beans. I buy them in the produce section and a few go along way to stop the salt craving.
  • The author of Grain Brain has a new book out called Brainmaker that talks about the role of the gut microbiome related to Alzheimer's and other neurological disorders. It's really fascinating.
  • I just make a conscious choice not to eat refined sugar on a regular basis. I didn't use a book or diet. There's no nutritional benefit that it adds to my health and for me it's not about weight loss but overall health and nutrition. You might want to try gradually weaning yourself off sugary foods so you're not…
  • I roast a huge pan with olive or avocado oil, garlic salt, and pepper on the weekends. Love them for every meal. Great for breakfast with some diced bacon and an egg on top, for lunch with a bunch of other roasted veggies tossed into a salad, or as a simple side of dinner. Best veggie ever!
  • Love my infusion pitcher. We use ours to make iced tea and coffee too.
  • Copper River salmon and local picked strawberries. So good!!
  • Dark leafy greens as well as fish like sardines and canned salmon are good nutrient dense foods that contain high calcium levels. I had low iron for years and took Healthy Blood supplements from Vitamin Code which seemed to help me.
  • Welcome Kelly! The first couple weeks of Paleo eating can be tough as your body adjusts, but you will reach a point when you feel yourself come out of it and it's so worth it! Think outside the box for breakfast - salmon and berries, sweet potato hash with bacon and veggies, homemade breakfast sausage and some greens...…
  • We fill muffin tins with ground turkey, veggies, and egg on Sunday's. Bake them in the oven and have these breakfast egg muffins all week. Really good with some sliced avocado on the side and really filling!
  • I like a fajita salad with no cheese or dressing. It's typically just a bunch of veggies, mixed greens, and grilled chicken or steak. Toss with salsa.
  • To the OP, I totally get it. I'm up at 4 AM with a two hour commute one way and some days I just like a smoothie for breakfast to enjoy in the car. I like Jay Robb vanilla whey powder. Very versatile, good flavor, and good texture. I get it on Amazon or I know Super Supplements carries it too. Good luck finding something!
  • I have it on my iPad but haven't read it yet. Glad to know its good.
  • That was a great book!
