  • Embarrassed to admit it, but I'm a MAJOR Pepsi/Coke addict. The last million times that I've tried to quit, I'll make it about 5 or 6 months and then fall off the wagon. I crazy it all day. The solution that's working for me now is to have half a can a day. I still buy the 12 oz. cans because I feel good about myself when…
  • I'm not a veggie eater. I tend to avoid foods due to texture, so I think that's my issue. I love cucumbers and carrots but otherwise, I like starchy veggies like corn. I'm learning to hide veggies in my everyday foods. I made a pasta with chicken and and worked in a bag of frozen veggies. That seems to be the trick to make…
  • Thanks! I really appreciate the feedback. I don't train again until Monday, so we'll see how things are between now and then I guess.
  • I can totally relate. The past few times that I've lost weight, I've been neurotic about counting. This time, I'm being very mindful of what I eat, logging and planning meals, but not being quite as picky as last time. Last time, I weighed absolutely everything. Obviously that's a more effective way of being accurate with…
  • Haha. That's funny. I had a coworker tell me yesterday that eating fruit causes early-onset diabetes. Guess it has NOTHING to do with being 100 lbs overweight, right?
  • This is totally me. I work a full time job and also help run a family-owned business. I work probably 70 hours a week on average and then have to worry about cleaning, cooking, laundry, etc. I have a great husband and no kids yet, so that helps, but it's still so overwhelming. This time (this is like my 100th attempt to…
  • You sound a lot like me. No salad, fish, limited veggies, etc. I'm also a recovering soda addict. Anyway, a few things work well for me. I do force down raw carrots a few times a week. I also actually like tomatoes and cucumber raw, so that tends to work well. I do eat veggies if I make vegetable soup, believe it or not. I…
  • I do understand that it's a lifestyle change. What you're saying makes sense. I probably am restricting too much and instead of having a small treat end up eating way more than I really "need". It seems like each time I fall off and get back up, a bad habit does go away. This latest time it was soda/pop. I rarely drink it…
  • I love potatoes. I have one most nights of the week with dinner. As long as I weight them and log them, I plan to keep eating them.
  • Assuming that you're just starting to do cardio, somewhere around 3.5 is good. I started at 233 (5'5", 30 y/o female). I'm down 20 lbs. When I walk outside, I try to keep between a 3.0 and 3.5 pace for 2.5-3 miles. The distance for me varies based on how many hills I deal with. On the treadmill, I started out at 3.0 for…
  • I'm a bit of a pizza addict. Today for lunch I had a Lean Cuisine 4 Cheese Traditional pizza. It was actually pretty good. 350 calories. Satisfied my pizza craving for now...
  • Floating on Cloud 9 right now. A co-worker (who knows that I've been trying to lose) just said that I look skinny. I know I'm not skinny yet (still over 200 lbs), but totally made my day!
  • Super excited..Chick-Fil-A Grilled Chicken Sandwich and a Fruit Cup. I rarely have fast food besides Subway so this is very exciting.
  • Fit into 3 pairs of jeans that were just too small when I bought them. I'm a little sad that my favorite Calvin Klein jeans are now too big...I think I'll get over it though! Haven't gone down a full size yet, but I'm happy to be able to tell that I'm getting smaller.
  • I'm not a runner, but a runner friend told me to put New Skin over the blister. Worked like a charm. I also put a corn protector over the blister after the New Skin. I coudln't even feel it when I went for my walk the other day.
  • Great job! I'm hoping to be there soon too. What a great NSV!

  • My hubby is thin too and never seems to gain. I've been making the same "main course" for each of us but giving him different sides. Example: Baked chicken. I'll have corn as my side and he may have some sort or unhealthy potato salad or pasta salad, which I usually buy ready-made from the grocery store. The one nice thing…
  • Totally needed this today. It's my weigh-in morning (I do it weekly) and I'm the exact same as last week. Same story; haven't had enough water lately and had too much sodium over the weekend. Also decided not to take my high blood pressure water pill, which I'm sure didn't help the scale. The scale sucks and doesn't…
  • 93%/7% hamburger and a baked potato. I am on a MAJOR baked potato kick for some strange reason. Good thing I don't slather it with butter or anything; plain works for me.
  • I couldn't handle soda in moderation, so I quit cold turkey. I didn't care so much for the caffeine, it was all about the sweetness for me. I drink 6 oz of pineapple juice on my way to work and that keeps me happy. Strange substitution, but its working for me. 30 days, no pepsi.
  • Me! I was doing really well for about 6 or 8 months about a year and a half ago. Took off around 25 lbs but got discouraged because it was such a slow process. Put it all back on but when I got back to that original weight, I realized that I needed to do something. This time around, I'm totally happy with 1-2 lbs per week…
  • I had a similar blood test panel done a few years ago. Shocking results...egg white and yolk, bananas, wheat, several types of fish, cheese and milk (which I knew about). I'm careful when I eat the things that I supposedly can't tolerate but I do still eat them in moderation. I've also found that although real eggs give me…
  • Not to steal the OPs thunder, but can you guys tell me a little about them? I'm not ready to do one yet, but once I lose some more weight I think I may want to. Sounds like a ton of fun. I can't seem to imagine running in mud, water, etc and not being horribly uncomfortable in wet clothes.
  • Soda and donuts. I would drink a soda and eat a donut most mornings before work. What an awful habit. Replaced soda with 6 oz of pineapple juice (I know; I'm wasting 100 calories on a beverage). No replacement for the donut and I don't really miss it. Also limiting pasta, just because it's a waste of calroies since the…
  • I was/am the same way. Now, my husband hides the scale and it only comes out 1 or 2 times per month. I'm certainly less upset by the numbers this way. Even if I've gained a pound from the previous day, I'd never know it because the number is still lower than it was 2 weeks ago...
  • I don't have anything to contribute that hasn't been said, but I love this thread. I needed some extra motivation and I had never thought of some of these NSVs. So awesome.
  • Thanks! I think I just needed to hear that there's hope for me on this one. Good luck on week 6!!
  • I'm just starting to get back in the swing of things, so my NSVs are pretty minor... 1.) Made it through 10 days without soda 2.) No fast food in 10 days (and I really don't miss it) 3.) Started to incorporate exercise - walked last night, this morning, and just got back from another, albeit short, walk Can't wait to start…
  • Congrats! What a difference. This is just what I needed to see - I'm 5'5" starting at 235. This proves that it can be done. If you don't mind, how much/what types of exercise did you do?
  • I'm a reformed Pepsi addict. I hated water more than anything. I quit soda cold turkey, had massive headaches and mood swings for about a week, and am over it now. The first time I quit, I drank water with Propel mixed in. Not a fan of Crystal Light or Mio. I started soda again for a few weeks, but I've quit again. This…
