  • I am on my last day of a full liquid diet. I go to clear liquids tomorrow with surgery on Tuesday. The first few days were the hardest - I felt weak, had headaches, and was really hungry. My advice is to try to mix things up as much as possible, within the guidelines that your doctor gave you. So, I'll add a scoop of…
  • You are making great progress and have been making significant changes! You will get there soon and it will be worth the wait. I second getting a fitbit. I have the Fitbit one. I've only had it for about a week but I really like it. I find it very motivating to just keep moving. Definitely worth the cost. I am having…
  • I take progesterone so I don't get a period, because they were really bad after I had my kids. But once I started my pre-op liquid diet, I started to cramp and get my period, even though my progesterone dose is the same. I asked my doctor about it and he said it is normal and will even out again in a few months. I am going…
  • I haven't had surgery yet (Tuesday) but I have been regularly planning meals because of my kids swim schedules. I need to know what we are going to have each night so we don't end up at a drive-thru at 7:30 after a swim practice. I plan my meals Sunday - Friday. I usually try to make a meal on Sunday that we can have…
  • Welcome Phil! I am schedule for VSG this Tuesday (if all goes according to plan!). I had to do a 3 month supervised diet before my insurance would approve it. I also don't really like exercise but I am trying to find ways to increase my activity. I got a fitbit one and I find that to be very motivating. I do like walking…
  • Thanks! I just bookmarked it.
  • Welcome! I get most of my support from this group. Only a small handful of people IRL know about my upcoming surgery. I am scheduled for the sleeve on Tuesday. I started the process a few months ago. I had to do a 3 month supervised diet, during which I got all the other tests and requirements done, and then surgery was…
  • I am totally going to try that once I get to the full liquids stage. That sounds yummy!
  • I have having the sleeve next week and this is what I've bought to prepare. I have a 1-2 week liquid only diet after surgery. I bought: a large pack of isopure zero (clear and protein), sample packs of syntrax nectar (clear protein), unjury chicken soup (clear protein), crystal light like flavorings (but with Stevia),…
  • It is normal for my weight to fluctuate by several lbs throughout the day. I don't even step on the scale at night because I never like what it says. But it is consistent if I weigh myself at the same time each day. If you are weighing yourself three times in a row and getting very different numbers, you need to fix your…
  • Welcome! What a great loss you've had. Feel free to friend me. I am getting sleeved next week.

  • I am having surgery a week from today. My post-op diet is clear liquids with protein for 1-2 weeks and then full liquids for another 2-3 weeks before moving on to purees. I have bought a case of Isopure Zero Carb, some sample packets of Syntrax Nectar, froze some broth that I like from a local vietnamese restaurant,…
  • Thanks! I ended up ordering the sample pack form the Syntrax website. I'm going to mark Naushua Nutrition for later, because that is exactly what I was looking for, but not the one I had previously used. The one I used must have been for a limited time only or something. Thanks everyone!!
  • Thanks so much for the detailed explanations of what it feels like. I think I have a good idea now of what to expect. I'm glad to hear that it feels uncomfortable rather than painful. And I know I'll need to be diligent in taking sips throughout the day. I have to be on clear liquids, but with protein, for the first 1-2…
  • Thanks. I see it there too. I guess that isn't the one I've used in the past. The one I used had a dropdown menu where I selected my flavors. Does the one on their website allow you to pick your flavors or do you just call in and order the "variety pack?"
  • My surgery is next Tuesday and I am also starting to get a little scared and nervous. I appreciated everyone's responses to the OP; they were very reassuring. I am just trying to keep myself as busy as I can over the next week, so I don't have time to dwell on the fear and anxiety.
  • I hope your surgery goes well this week. You'll get to the next surgery soon!
  • Fantastic! That's an amazing accomplishment.
  • You can change what you want your goal calories to be under "Goals" on the main page. Just set your calorie goal to what you want. You can also set goals for protein, carbs, etc.
  • I am 2 weeks pre-op. I bought a scale during my 3-month supervised diet and it made a world of difference. I really had no idea how much an ounce of turkey was or an once of cheese (which is not very much cheese at all!). It made my calorie counting much more accurate. I also use the "tare" feature often and find it very…
  • We have close surgery dates! I am getting the sleeve on 7/29. I start my two-week pre-op on Tuesday, although I'm going to just start it tomorrow. I've gotten all of my hospital lab work done so I just have one more visit with my surgeon before the big day. I'm starting to get a little nervous! I am buying samples of…
  • I"m so glad you are feeling well, walking around and getting your water in. I'll remember your words of advice when it is my turn in a couple of weeks. Heather
  • Well, I met my goal weight of 299. I've finished my 3 month supervised diet and will start my pre-op diet in a little over a week. I didn't meet my exercise goal but I will keep working on it!
  • That's great! I can't wait to be there. It is so nice to hear about the victories. Heather
  • My doctor's office runs like a machine. They know exactly what to submit to insurance in order to get it approved. I've been gathering medical records and letters of support over the past couple of months. If it isn't approved, they can always reschedule the surgery. My last appt. for the 3 month required insurance diet is…
  • It looks like you tried all the ones I think are gross. My favorites are the chocolate chip cookie dough, the chocolate chunk (not the brownie) and the white chocolate raspberry. I really like the ones with chunks in them.
  • Thanks so much for everyone's responses. I am hoping that I will start feeling better by the end of the summer. It's a bummer that things are still so hard for me this summer but I expect to be crazy with my kids next summer - camping, hiking, kayaking, swimming, etc. I feel guilty for not exercising very much. I am trying…
  • My surgery is scheduled for July 29, although I still need to get insurance approval. I am in my last week of my three month supervised diet. My pre-op instructions are 1 week of 900 calories with no more than 30 carbs and 10 grams of fat. The second week is liquid only. Feel free to friend me!
  • Feel free to friend me! I am getting sleeved at the end of July so we are close in schedule. I am finishing up my 3 month supervised diet and have my last appointment next Friday. I didn't like the idea of a 3 month wait, either, but now I'm glad for it. One, there was a lot of paperwork and such that took time to get…
  • I am starting my pre-op diet in a a few weeks. Right now I'm on 1500 calories, low carb, no caffeine, no alcohol, practicing my protein first and 30-30-30 rule. My pre-op diet will be one week of 900 calories with max of 30 carbs and 10 grams of fat. After that, I have a week of liquids only (protein drinks) at 900…
