  • I really like the thought. And I 100% agree with OP that even a small amount of alcohol can ruin a good night sleep. I can fall asleep easily but then end up being awake for hours in the middle of the night. I know it's directly related. I've tried to do Friday/Saturday only, but for some reason always find a reason to…
  • I just started doing IF and so far I really like it. I'm into week 2. I think it's helping me get over a plateau because it's helping not graze at night and making it much easier to stay within my calorie goal. I've even noticed a small change in the scale heading back in the right direction...
  • Also could I ask - what is IF? It's intermittent fasting. It's not something I would normally condone, but it's really helping with my night time snacking. The theory behind it, is you fast for a certain amount of time, then you only eat during a specific window. I'm doing the 16:8. So I don't eat my first meal until 10am,…
  • I am in the EXACT same boat. Put on 7lbs at Christmas and have not been able to shake it...AT ALL!!! It's really hard and depressing. Same as you, I go down 2, then up 3, then down 1, then up 2...It's a never ending battle. I've lost 20lbs on MFP, so I know the logistics of how it works. Something I'm trying right now…
  • Wow, I am loving all the feedback!! I think IF is the perfect fit for me. I don't eat early in the morning and I think I can force myself to stop grazing at night if I tell myself, "no you're IF, no food allowed if you've hit your daily goal!" I appreciate everyone's insight. I am just going to do it!!!! You have all been…
  • You are all so awesome!! I love all of your comments. Thanks for sharing your input!
  • Thanks guys! I think I'll give it a whirl without obsessing over it. I am just struggling at staying within my goal at the end of my day. Half the time, I'm not hungry, just picking at things I shouldn't be picking at (kids snacks, leftover food, etc). I gained 5lbs at Christmas, and just trying to shed those before summer…
  • They inspire me too! Congratulations on overcoming your obstacle! You should be very proud of yourself. You're doing the right thing by not depriving yourself. I hope all is well with your eldest son!! And well thank goodness TOM only lasts a short while and only once a month... Good luck and God bless!!
  • Did you lose 13lbs, in 13 days?????
  • I like using lemon juice, a touch of olive oil and salt on my salads. At a restaurant I will ask for oil and vinegar and some lemon wedges. Farm Boy (I'm in Canada) has a delicious lemon garlic dressing that I absolutely love. I am currently eating (as I type) an avocado tuna salad with Kale, and used fresh squeezed lemon…
  • @Lrlong82 I am so proud of you!!! Great job! your husband sounds like such a sweet man to support you that way! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!! I look forward to your next post...Keep it up, you are doing awesome!! xo
  • Although my story is quite different than yours, the "point" of it, is exactly the same. I married my husband because i liked spending time with him. We had nothing in common. I was getting up in age, and if I wanted the family I've always wanted, I had to start now. So I married him, and figured it would all work itself…
  • I try to stay low carb, with the occasional high carb meal when I visit my boyfriend (we make fresh pasta together). Not so much now that summer is here. We'll do BBQ over pasta, but all winter long I had fresh pasta once or twice a month. I'm like you, carbs don't work well with my weight loss goals. I love giant salads…
  • I'm a 44 year old single mom of 2 boys...lol I have similar issues with finding time to work out, and not hurting myself when I do. I still act like I'm 24 and not 44. Anyway, feel free to add me as a friend if you wish. Oh, I'm 5'3" at 137lbs looking to lose about 5-10lbs, so we have similar goals as well...And I am…
  • Canadian girl wishing she was Scottish, or in Scotland, or at least going to visit!! hahaha...I did highland dancing for about 25 years of my life, then became a teacher. I've never been to Scotland, but it is on my bucket list. I must visit the Edinburgh castle before I die! So a big hello from far away!!!
  • I have bookmarked your post. I love that you're just telling your story! It is inspiring!! Congratulations on the recent loss...You've got this Lrlong82!! Just keep going...You're doing it, and you're doing great!! I am going to continue to check in on you...I hope more people read your story. Good luck and God bless!
  • Also, your husband is a man in will generally burn more calories just by breathing...I know, I know, that's totally unfair, but it's true. If you want a more accurate calorie count, you could invest in a heart rate monitor. They tend to be a little more accurate than the readout of the machine...
  • I sleep in my workout clothes too...Then I just have to get out of bed and go! Not unusual at all... But back to the OP, working out in the morning in rejuvenating. Granted I'm not a morning person, and some mornings my sleep overrides my workout, but I do my best. I also run/bike fasted. I can't eat early in the morning.…
  • I did do Stronglifts before getting back to Wendler. I didn't have as much fun with it, and I lost interest. I really enjoy Wendler's program. I think I was up to cycle 8 last time I quit...
  • I am doing 5/3/1...It's my second go at it. The first time I did it, my schedule was a little bit different, and I could work out in the crossfit room, so I did use the bumper plates. When I couldn't get into the crossfit room, I would use the safety bars on the squat rack (like I was doing this time). I had such amazing…
  • That's fantastic!! Do it!! The first time I entered my first duathlon I thought I was crazy. I came in dead last, but did it matter??? Not at all. The accomplishment was such an amazing feeling. I've done 4 more since then, and have shaved loads of time off my personal best every year, and I'm no longer finishing last. You…
  • Ahhh...perfect! Didn't know what a rack pull was. Thanks so much!
  • My gym does have bumper plates, but they are in the crossfit room, and it seems every time I go work out, there's a class going on. But I do like the idea of the step risers. I'll have to look and see if there are any laying around in the weight room... I'm gathering by all your advice, the security rails are too high to…
  • @dragon1ady, if you want, and I'm not joking, PM me your address and I will mail you my jawbone. I actually thought I had lost it, so I bought the charge 2, then I found it. If you wanted to try it out without spending any money, I will gladly send it to you free of charge!! If you're in the US, you may have to pay duty…
  • I have a sprint duathlon in August. I do it every year. I wouldn't be able to do a marathon...I've started training already which is earlier than previous years, so I'm hoping to beat last years time...
  • I had a jawbone...They have ZERO customer support. The sleep data was the only real useful data I got from that tracker. I found it to not be user friendly at all!!! I now have a Charge 2, I looooove it!!!! And it tracks sleep very well, showing deep sleep, restless and awake. My boyfriend has the Blaze and he just did an…
  • I did both Wendler 5/3/1 and Stronglifts. I saw much better overall progress with Wendler (and I mean in body composition). I had given up lifting for a little bit, and am back doing Wendler. I had a lot more fun with that one, and so far am liking it as much as I did the first time (I was a true beginner to lifting the…
  • Well, I go out of town every other weekend. Usually the weekends that I am here, I do log. It's just difficult to do it when I'm away. But I've been doing that for over a year, and only started seeing this issue in the past month or so...
  • I need to add, that I haven't just been exercising for 3 weeks. I've been a fitness instructor for 17 years. I teach 2 spin classes a week, a step class, I run before my one spin class (I'm training for a dualthlon) and I re-introduced strenght training 3 days a week, but I'm only in my 2nd week of that...I didn't want…
  • I love Costco's athletic wear. They're Tuff brand is my favorite! Very affordable too...
