  • I want your butt, Austelle! I am so sick of a pancake following me around. :) It's getting better, but like Veruca Salt, I want it now! Beeps-I'm with you on the energy skids. No workout for me today. I took my girls to a deer sanctuary and to a sculpture park so I guess we did a little walking but that's it. And I guess I…
  • Are we the same person? lol I did the exact same thing today. It was soooo much better!

  • Look at your little hourglass waist! Incredible results! Congrats!
  • Me too! I'm just going off the TDEE for the weight I want to be (and was before I started New Rules) which is about 2000 cals a day. New Rules only had me at 1916 for lifting days-no wonder I've been so hungry!
  • So, I decided to keep on keeping on with Stage 2 instead of taking a rest week, but I AM increasing my cals to 2000 every day. I'm sick of this yo-yo-ing back and forth each day depending on if I lift or not. I was eating that amount before starting New Rules and was pretty content. Did 2B today and I have to say it was…

  • Keep on focusing on the good stuff! We're our own worst critics and I"m sure the other stuff looks good too. :)

  • Someone suggested wearing those little 1 lb gloves that people wear in turbokick/kickboxing classes. I haven't checked the palms of the gloves, but they may be a way to increase by just a lb.
  • Sue-I have a pal at the Y who started lifting weights when she turned 60. She is my hero! She deadlifts the big bars, bench presses, and is entering a weight lifting competition later this month. She said she never exercised until she turned 60. Amazing. Good luck to you!
  • Thanks, Sam. I just weigh in every couple of weeks on one of those body fat scales (I know they're not super accurate, but I figure consistency in the time, activity level, etc.. help). When I started New Rules in April, I was at 18%. I wish I knew what it was prior to that, but the person at the protein shake shop had…
  • I just spent the last 20 min. looking at all of the awesome women on these threads. Fantastic! Here's mine:
  • You can do it! I used to weigh 205 lbs (am also 5'6) and thought that I was big boned. Once I lost the weight, I was surprised to find out that I'm not! There will be plenty of times where you fall off the wagon so just keep getting back on and you'll be just fine. Best of luck to you!
  • You are my hero! I could only get those suckers up for 1 set and then had to drop back down to 50 lbs. Why don't they make 27.5 pounders anyways? :) Congrats!
  • Yeah, I've put on about 7 lbs. (which I know may be some water and a little bulk I hope) but my BF went down .7%. I'm fine with a little gain, but that's almost a pound a week since starting which seems off.
  • How many of you take the rest week between stages? I just jumped into Stage 2 and my energy level has been so low all week. If you took the rest week, did you do any sort of exercise during the rest? Did you feel like your body composition changed at all?
  • Alf-I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I think you should just ease back in wherever you feel comfortable. 3 weeks isn't that long, but you might want to start with some lower weights when you jump back into it. Just take the time you need.
  • I have a hard time filling out certain dresses too so I invested in those chicken cutlet things from Wal-Mart (I think they were $12) and just put them in my bra to build up the girls. :) I'm sure you'll look amazing!
  • You totally rock! Gotta ask you-do you follow the cals in the book? Do you eat back your cardio cals? I'm the same height as you and feel like I'm not eating enough on their plan (I eat back my cardio cals too). They have me at 1961 on my lifting days and 1716 on non lifting days.
  • I pretty much lift alone. There are a few girls at the Y that I convinced to do the program, but we're all on diff. schedules right now. I usually help spot another lady and she helps me lift my bar to load weight on it for deadlifts and stuff. I just watch a lot of videos and if I have a question, there are usually a…
  • You are speedy! I've been doing treadmill intervals: Level 1: 6.4 Level 2: 6.6 Level 3: 6.8 Level 4: 7.0 Level 5: 7.2

  • Welcome! I love it too. :) I generally don't even count my lifting cals. I wear my HRM, but there are so many rests and setup time that it's all over the place. Have fun!
  • And PS I love you.
  • I am a total tankini mom.! I just wore that suit when we went to Miami and I knew I wouldn't see anyone I knew. :) .Wait-I take that back. I'll sometimes wear one at the cabin if it's just the family hanging out, but I have either been pregnant or nursing a baby for the past 9 years so bikinis weren't really an option for…
  • You amaze me! I know it's hard to stick with it when it's slow moving, but you have remained committed and it's paying off! I suck. Hard. Went on vacation and stopped eating beans (why does this stupid goal make me laugh?). I actually have a bag ready to go in my freezer, but I'd rather eat hair right now. :) I have taken…
  • I've been following the calorie counts and the macros, but not the actual food plans. On the days I lift, I get 1961 cals. If I do any cardio, I eat those cals back. On non lifting days, I get 1716 and will eat back cardio cals. Since I started (April 15th), I have put on about 7 lbs. However, my BF% went from 18 to 17.3.…
  • So these intervals..... For my warmup I've been running a mile or a mile and a half-anywhere from 10-15 min. depending on the day. For Stage 2, I've been doing the interval portion of the workouts instead of my regular warmup run. Think that's okay? I don't think I could tack on another 15 min. at the end of my workouts.…

  • Did my first B workout today too. It was... awkward. :) Deadlifts-did 135 lbs because I was too lazy to grab more plates. I stood on the top of a step and it felt strange to lower the bar past the step. Gonna stay at that weight until I master the form of getting it down there. Bulgarian Split Squats-these were good. I…

  • Not an issue with my thigh, but my right knee gave me lots of problems in Stage so I switched to doing static lunges with a foot elevated (like you do in Stage 2). For me, it was the motion of going back & forth. Maybe try walking lunges or static lunges for awhile and see if that helps.
  • Interval questions: I'm trying to run 365 miles in a year and have been running 1-2 miles before my New Rules workouts. I figure 10 min. for a warmup and then I was doing walk/run intervals for another 10 min. So today I did the interval portion before the lifting (since I did that through Stage 1) and felt fine while…

  • Yay! We're on the same schedule for this round. :) FSPP- I guess I didn't look at my elbows, but focused on keeping the bar at my shoulders when I squatted and then would push it up. I felt like superwoman doing these. :) Stepups- I've done them both ways. This round, I'm trying to increase my step height and that was…

  • Off to the Y to start Stage 2 today. Super excited to attempt those front squat push presses! In Stage 1 I went up in weight for the stepups so this time I'm going to increase my step height. I was already doing the static lunges since the lunges in Stage 1 were bothering my right knee so I'm not sure if I'll adjust those.…
