  • It's a Hard Knock Life from the Annie musical. Honestly, I have way too many cheesy songs. I've been listening to Boys to Men's Motown Philly lately too. :)
  • Holy crap! How is your grip with those rows? I think 160 is my dream!

  • I have 3 daughters 7, 5, and 2 who often hang out in my bathroom with me. I always make it a point to say, "I am wonderful!" or "I look good!" :) They ask a lot of questions like, "Why do you have those lines on your breasts?" or "How come your booty is bigger than mine?" Those are always fun to field. :)
  • Done done done with Stage 1. I did the AMRAPS this week and they were an absolute killer! Like can't sit down on the toilet seat kind of killer. :) Is everyone taking a rest week or plunging right into Stage 2. I'm scared of those Squat Press things.

  • Fantastic progress!

  • Last Stage 1B workout today: Final results (going from my 2nd week numbers to now): Deadlift: 75 to 150 lbs. DB Shoulder Press: 40 to 60 lbs. (could only do 7 reps, but I'm counting it) Lat Pulldown: 75 to 110 lbs. Lunge: holding two 20 lb. dumbbells to two 35 lb. DBs Swiss Ball Crunch: holding a 15 lb. weight to 75 lb.…

  • Finished my last Stage 1A workout today. I can't believe it's over (well, I still have those AMRAPS, right?) Final results (using my 2nd workout as my starting point since I had no idea what I was doing with that barbell): Squats: 55 lbs. to 145 lbs. Pushups: regular to incline with my leg up (trying to move into the t…

  • Pretty choice And just remember-everyone is going to be looking at the bride so you don't have to worry about how you look, just wear something that makes you feel comfortable. :)
  • You rock!
  • Gonna need this guide in a couple of weeks.
  • Thanks! I know what you're talking about-some gals use them in turbokick class, but do you think grip would be an issue? Might be worth a try....

  • I follow the macros in the book as best I can and alternate my cals between 1716 and 1961. If I work out on non lifting days, I eat those cals back. I am a creature of habit so my breakfasts and lunches are almost always the same: B: protein shake with a fat (coconut oil or half an avocado), a banana, and spinach. Post…
  • I tried to increase my overhead press to 60 lbs. today and it was a major fail. Why don't they make 27.5 lb. dumbbells? On the plus side, I deadlifted more than I weigh. That felt pretty awesome.

  • Sweet! I only made spreadsheets through Stage 3 so this rocks!

  • I read the Abs book before NROLFW and thought it was interesting how he said not to focus on any specific ab exercises even though he recommended them in the past. I'd like to read/try the men's version some day, but I've got to finish this one first. :) Tell us more about the break-in session. What did you have to do?

  • I've been doing a reverse grip to do my deadlifts (one hand facing forward and one hand facing backward). I switch positions after each set. There are some other women lifters at my YMCA who do that and it feels more secure doing it that way. Good luck!

  • Mine is pretty varied and I often say I would die if someone confiscated my ipod and saw what I was listening to. I'm a pretty demure mom of 3..... ;) T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever) Will. I. Am. • Yes yes yes! All of it. So inspiring.
  • All of these numbers are so encouraging ladies. I won't be finished until next week, but am almost a little scared to move onto Stage 2. I feel like I'm just getting the routine now. :)

  • What a feeling! Congrats on your loss!
  • Yeah, you have great numbers! Of course, everyone starts out at different levels. I think if your purse is heavier than your weights, then they are Barbie weights. :)

  • Yes! There are a couple of veteran women lifters at the Y and I noticed they both do this too. I asked one about it and she said her trainer recommended it to help with her grip. Just make sure to switch it up for each set.

  • I think the key is to take time for yourself. Having a newborn (and other kids underfoot) is very hard. Sometimes so hard that the thought of going to the gym or taking them all for a walk is pretty overwhelming. I exercised throughout all of my pregnancies, ate pretty well, and held onto some of the weight for varying…
  • I sure hope it's okay because I eat a lot at night! I love bedtime snacks!
  • I think the key is what you mix them with. I go cheap on my powder. Right now, I'm using the Target Market Pantry brand and like it. I always add in a fruit (banana, strawberries, or pear) and a fat to make it creamier (coconut oil of half an avocado), and a cup of spinach. I've been adding a Crystal light lemonade packet…
  • Everyone in the weight area has been really friendly. Of course, I'm at the Y and generally there in the morning so it's mostly a middle aged crowd. I had to lift yesterday afternoon since I had other morning commitments and there was a high school kid flexing and then popping a pimple int he mirror-gross! Did 6B and tried…
