I love the idea of the MFP recipe builder, but when I tried it in the past it seemed very buggy, and I had a hard time getting it to match ingredients. Has it improved recently?

If you're a 3-oz chicken eater and you weigh your chicken out... then good for you. :) Moving on. Seriously, though, one of the things we talk about on MFP the most is undercalculating portions and overestimating calories burned. Lots of people starting out -- who haven't bought a scale yet, etc. -- make this mistake.

Oh, pita. How I wish I could quit you. Seriously, and I don't even like the lower-cal kind of pitas, I like the nice doughy ones. With hummus. If it's hummus, it's healthy, right?

I love that idea.

No, it's not yours. :) Actually, you have GREAT food logs, you're totally precise and I can tell you're being completely honest. I've looked at yours for inspiration, actually. I've had some frustration with the measurements things are listed in the database too, when whatever unit it's given in isn't precise enough.

That's super awesome, then. Go you! :) (I still think a lot of people just put in one serving, though. I know -- years ago I used to do it, too. Buying that food scale is a big eye-opener, isn't it?)
-
I know I do. I mean, sheesh, even a half a pound of clothes is a half a pound I don't want to see added on there. ;)

Sure, with the frozen ones there's consistency in the size of them, and whatever they say I'd go with, too. With the fresh boneless/skinless breasts you buy in packages or at the meat counter, you just have to weigh them.

Another: if I I see someone consistently logging "1 serving of chicken (3 oz)", I give it the side-eye. Did you *really* only eat 3 ounces of chicken, or did you just eat a chicken breast (which can be anywhere from 9 to 12 ounces) and call it one serving? (of course, if you're doing that and losing anyhow, eh, have at it,…

I love this thread, btw. The bad, the good, the ugly. The honesty is great. My confession: when I see that a MFP friend has had a big loss (or even any loss), I'm super happy for them. But if they're losing faster than I am, I'm a little jealous, too.

I don't know if it will help to hear this or not, but I had the same exact concerns in my 30s. So much so that the panic had faded into resigned misery. But when I was 38, I found someone who loves me fat, thin (ish), and even fatter than I was before. I'm not saying it happens for everyone, but it *does* happen sometimes.…

Of course it's important to exercise whenever you can. And in general, we make time for what we want to make time for. But life sometimes intervenes. Maybe you're stuck on a train commuting most of the day, or in classes, or your health prevents you from certain activity. Yes, there are still things you can do at home and…

I'm glad you asked this question. My husband is worried about the same thing -- he's an accountant, and when tax season starts, he barely has time to have a five-minute conversation with me, let alone exercise. He's worried that he'll stop losing or gain during those two months or so. I told him he'll just have fewer…

I'm a different shape than you -- I'm 5' 10" -- but I have over 100 pounds to lose... and I did it once already, and gained it again, and now I'm back. So you're in good company. We can do it!

The Giants for me. But when I want to root for an underdog, I cheer for the town I grew up in, the Bills. :)

By the way -- HUGE CONGRATS!!! Quitting smoking is the hardest thing I've ever done so I know how it is, I really do congratulate you on this!

It's my first week, but I am with you -- in total I want to lose 125, but set myself a 1st goal of 75 or so. It's daunting... trying to take it one pound at a time...
