  • Hi, all! My name is Robyn. I had RNY surgery just under a month ago--Dec 15, 2011. Considering I was 300 lbs and only 5'1", I was pretty healthy. No high bp; no diabetes, but would very likely have had both within a couple years. I do have a spinal birth defect that I will need to have surgery on eventually and it would be…
  • I'm a new RNY patient (Dec 15), so I have no advice. However, great job on keep off most of your weight for so long! I hope you find what you're looking for regarding the baby weight.

  • I'm a 3rd shifter, 12 hour shifts, so I'm in bed by 8 AM and up at 4(ish) PM on work days. On my off days, I vary greatly, but always getting 8 hours. I don't do well on less.
  • You look fantastic, Lorina! Great job.
  • Oh, thank God it's not just me!
  • Julie, my cousin and I did the same thing when our grandmother passed. I think I was in fourth grade and my cousin would have been about 15 years old (freshman?). Our parents brought all of the cousins to one house and I was the last to arrive. I walked into the room, Jenn and I looked at each other and our tear streaked…
  • For those unaware, there is a thread for people who need to lose 100 pounds or more. Just do a search for "100" and you'll find it. The group of people who post there are great. They're very supportive and have wonderful ideas. :flowerforyou:
  • MFP already calculates the deficit based on your current weight and what you indicated you wanted to lose per week (1-2 lbs. per week? Half pound per week?). Whatever calories that they say you can eat is what you can eat, already calculating out the deficit. You don't have to worry about it. They did for you. The deficit…
  • I admit that my current favorite is Phinneas & Ferb. The cable guy stopped to fix our DVR. He saw all of the cartoons on the DVR and asked how old our kids are. I had to tell him that we didn't have any. Those were recorded for me. :blushing:
  • That was my honey's favorite when he was a kid. His mom tells a story of how, when he was about five, he introduced himself to a new little neighbor girl by saying, "Hi. My name is He Man."
  • The original "Scooby Doo, Where Are You?" will always be my favorite. Hated the one where they were kids and I'm pretty sure they only made 5 episodes of "What's New Scooby Doo" and play them constantly on Cartoon Network.
  • I think we should revive this topic! :drinker: I'm a pre-op RnY patient, about half way through my pre-op program. Hopefully(!), I'll have my surgery before the end of the year. Hope everyone is well!
  • If you go to the "exercise" tab and then choose "database", MFP will calculate roughly what you should burn for an activity based on your weight and the duration you enter.
  • For improved cardiac health plus weight loss, most days of the week you should aim for 30 min of exercises that raise your heart rate--swimming, walking, jogging, an exercise video, or even vigorous house work.
  • I haven't had my surgery yet, but I will have it by the end of 2011--hopefully in October. Congrats on the surgery and the weight loss!
  • I'm working. Can't wait for the firework burns and injuries. :noway: Holiday pay is my favorite kind of pay, so I'm not really complaining. Who wouldn't like time and a half?
  • I went to college with a double major: Art (drawing) and Social Work. I look back now and see why I'm broke.
  • If we're going to eat Chinese, I tend to stick with vegetable Mei Fun (very thin noodles, egg, vegetables). Don't know if it's any better than anything else, but I figure that, while it may have been cooked in the same amount of oil as other items, the lack of sauce should make it a lesser evil. Plus, the place we order…
  • I've seen this one before. Still love it.
  • I can only comment on the food scale. I'll be interested in finding out if anyone knows of a good blender too. I'm going to have a need for one in the relatively near future. My scale is a EatSmart Precision Pro - Multifunction Digital Kitchen Scale w/ Extra Large LCD (copied directly from Amazon). I paid $25. It had a 5…
  • I've been medicated for an underactive thyroid for ten years, though I think it was underactive long before that. I finally went in and asked to be tested when I was roughly 20 years old, because I felt like I was living in molasses--every thought and every action took so much energy. I just couldn't deal with it any more.…
  • Happy birthday, Greg! That's a great attitude you have. Good job on your loss and improved health!
  • Alright, I'm a dumb butt. . . In my welcome message, I grabbed the wrong name, though I do certainly want to welcome Regina too. So, offically, I say "Welcome, Shasta!!" :flowerforyou:
  • Hi Regina. Welcome! If you're interested, there is a group for people looking to lose 100 pounds or more. It's a great group of people who support each other. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/255694-need-to-lose-100-lbs-or-more-lets-start-a-group
  • I work nights and I do the same thing as Sheets. To do otherwise would be a pain. I figure that, if I'm at or under my calorie goal by midnight each day, it doesn't matter. Btw, there is a thread for those of us who work night shifts, if you're interested. It's a great place for support from people who understand that life…
  • I weigh anywhere from every three days to once a week. I work in a healthcare setting and I figure that work's scales are more accurate than mine, so I try to weigh right away when I get in on the first day of my work week. Since my schedule changes a lot, it can be up to a week before I can get on a scale. For me, if I…
  • I'd call that a victory. Congrats!
  • Congrats on your NSV! Keep up the good work!
