  • Haha I had to laugh when I read the comment that I should be banned for suggesting to stop eating peanut butter! Good one! :D Anyway, I read a lot of people suggest moderation instead of avoiding all peanut butter altogether. On one hand I do agree with this, but on the other I know myself and how I can change habits.…
  • Thanks everyone for your ideas, very helpful! I bought some of the foods you suggested! :)
  • Sorry for not responding for a week. I did read your comments and it's great to see everyone's having so much success! May is almost over so it's time to look back - I'm sure you'll manage to avoid fast food the next 3 days! :) Here's some questions to consider: 1. Where you successful so far? 2. What benefits did you…
  • Ok a list of 10 is also fine! :)
  • Ok many people say that it is a bad idea to cut out foods & beverages like this. I don't think so. Let me explain: I think it's a bad idea to demand of yourself *never* to eat or drink a specific food again. That is impossible. But it could be very effective to do it for a specific time. Also you need to think about what…
  • Do I ever hate dieting? Well, like others have said, I don't really think of what I'm doing as dieting. I'm doing a lifestyle change, and I really love making that change! Sometimes it's a bit tough, but if I feel really bad then I just listen to my body and eat a bit more. I think it's important to listen to my body. It…
  • @Jason & PJPrimrose - Oh yeah the money is great too. I quit about 140 days now. Let's say I smoked 2 packages per week. That would mean I would've smoked 20 (weeks) * 2 (packages/w) = 40 packages. 40 x 5 = 200 euros. That's a whole month of rent (I'm a student) or 1.5 month of groceries or enough money to do a (budget)…
  • Thanks for your compliments, I can tell you that I still quit and that will never change! :) Great to read about all of you who quit, well done! I know it isn't easy to get there, I hope though that it is as easy for you as it is for me to not smoke again now that you quit! I agree that it is important for smoking to be…
  • Thanks for your very interesting replies! @Platedlizard - I agree with the options that you give, they are all possible. Interesting point on the normative view of how people should should being heavier for some people. More and more people are becoming overweight nowadays and it's understandable that people's idea of…
  • @Golliath - That's awesome! Do you experience any advantages? Is it hard to keep going, or easy? @Ewatts & Jimervin - You're welcome to join. I started this challenge myself around the mid of April, so you can start now too. Nowadays I like to just take challenges when I feel motivated for them instead of waiting for a…
  • Thanks Red and Perseverance! :)
  • Hi annko65! You're not too late, you're welcome to join! :) In fact, I will continue this challenge in June because I feel great not eating any junk food!
  • @MadDog - Good to hear that your week is going well! We're almost halfways through this month!
  • Thanks everyone! :) Today I will give myself a reward for reaching this goal - I will get a new haircut! I never worried so much about looks but now that I am lighter again I feel the need to improve my looks, to look as good as I can! Next goal will be weighing less than 86 kg. I can buy a piece of clothing when I reach…
  • Cool to see so many great answers to my question! It's late and I don't have time to reply to all of you right now, so I will just reply to some of you and I will reply to the rest later. :) First, excellent points chezzie, which career you choose must determine a lot. My future career will probably (and hopefully :) )…
  • Thanks Taniac for sharing your experience - good to know that it's really possible to get rid of the cravings! This encourages me greatly! :)
  • Bump :)
  • Indeed moderation is always the best way to change a habit. Fast food is actually addictive (the fats/sugars) and I personally think the most effective way to break addiction is not moderation but to avoid the substance altogether - at least for a while until you have the addiction out of your system. I am not sure how…
  • Welcome shunggie! Good that you join! I don't know what the sausage biscuit is, but it's good to avoid McDonald's! I wonder, what will you eat instead?
  • Fatalis, you are free to choose what to do. It's ok if you eat fast food for one day, indeed only eating ff once in a month is already a great improvement! :) And if that avoids a lot of frustration it can be a smart thing to do. But it's also nice to do the challenge 100% and go for no ff. It just matters what you find…
  • Well done Sasha! :) My Friday update: SW1: 234 (early 2013) SW2: 200 lbs (May 7 2014) CW: 196 lbs (May 92014) GW: 180 lbs Yeah the progress is crazy. I must say that my SW2 (the starting weight of this challenge) was a spike in my weight - it just happened to be my weight on the day this challenge started. So I lost that…
  • I'm in! 20 pounds is a nice goal (though I am unsure whether it's my ideal weight, so I'll have to wait and see) and it should be doable to lose it in this amount of time. I will check this thread regularly and offer you my support! First, some general info: (nick)name: Dagnova Gender: Male Height: 6'2 Built: Athletic Age:…
  • First, about me: it's going great! No temptations, no fast food. I am learning to cook again, a habit that I lost throughout the years. I love it! :) @MadDogManor - You're doing great! :) @Golliath - Super! I'm curious, what did you eat when you went out of town yesterday? Did you manage to resist the fast food? @Allimac -…
  • Wow fast food every day? What a big change you are making now! :) I am sure you'll benefit a lot from this! You'll lose weight and become more healthy because you'll get a lot more vitamins and nutrients. Learning to cook takes time, good to start with easy meals! My friends and housemates often make fun of my habit to put…
  • I'm back. I ran about 18 kilometers, got a bit lost in the forest! ;) It was nice, I enjoyed it! Somewhere I spotted a deer, got within 10 meters of her! :) Interesting to read how you deal with overeating. I agree that just moving on to the next day is a good idea, but I think every now and then doing a good amount of…
  • @Clovergirl82 - Cool that you want to join, good luck with the challenge! @MessyMissy - Many substances can be addicting, including foods - this has been proven many times in scientific studies. Here's an interesting article about that:…
  • Hi Goliath! Great that you join! I like your plans - it's good to cook your own meals; healthier and potentially cheaper! Avoiding fast food will help you lose weight! :) While I believe that self esteem shouldn't be completely dependent on looks, I can say that losing weight did help me improve my confidence. Hope the…
  • With all due respect, read the OP! ;)
  • Transformista, how did it go? I was successful! No fast food for >2 weeks! I feel good and am losing weight again! Will continue in May, will you join me?
  • I already lost 5 of 20 pounds! :) It's going much faster than I expected!
