I am not sure on the weight loss but my Dr and I discussed this topic and she said its very beneficial for flexibly and helps with arthritis and fibromyalgia pain.

You don't need them, but I do find them easy and convent. I like to have one following my workout as I chose to not have a post workout meal or snack as I go from the gym to work.

i don't cheat I do however eat out once and a while, usually pizza. I am almost always under my calories any way so I don't worry about it. If I know I am going to eat out I work out a little extra and drink extra water to flush the fat out.
