like others have said, just do some walking. make it regular, 4-5x a week for 20 min or more. thats it. and count your calories properly and be at a deficit and the weight will come off.

There are two kinds of fat that contribute to your belly size. Visceral (the stuff inside with your organs) and subcutaneous fat, which is just under the skin. The visceral pushes out the gut and the subcutaneous is another layer of padding over that. It takes a while to get rid of enough of this stuff before you see a…

As others have pointed out, it isn't a regular activity, and it is somewhat strenuous, so I log it, but cut the time by 50-75% in MFP to make sure I'm not overestimating. It is at least as hard as a brisk walk, no? People log walks.

Nice shots, LifeInTheBikeLane -- looks peaceful even with the storm brewing. I like afternoons like that.

I tried it a couple times and could hardly taste the hazelnuts supposedly in it. I was hoping it was going to be more of a nut-butter, but it was much like canned chocolate cake frosting.

Ah, that road looks like some nice climbing work, Spedangie. There has got to be a Strava segment for that one!

Just think, if you eat only 50 extra calories a day than you burn off, you will gain over 5lbs a year consistently. So making sure your averages are less than what you burn on a weekly basis is the way to go.

Good point from ScrAgnX above, I had the same problem, and I also put a Vittoria Zaffiro on the rear wheel and that fixed it.

Same setup here, I got this back in December and have been logging lots of miles on it. I also have the Edge 500 with HRM & the Garmin Speed/Cadence device as well, so it is easy to track how hard you are working. The CycleOps is a good fluid brand, but I have heard the KKs are better designed and cannot leak. I have no…

So, I looked this up. Yes, the Internet is useful indeed. http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/lamb-veal-and-game-products/4645/2# "Game meat, opossum, cooked, roasted" According to the nutrition facts sheet, the mineral profile of 3oz. cooked Opossum meat: Minerals Amounts Per Selected Serving %DV Calcium14.5mg 1%…

One thing I think about sometimes is that food is as much a social thing as it is a biological fuel. People plan their get-togethers and daily schedule around meals. Eating together is a bonding thing for couples, families, and friends -- a shared and hopefully pleasurable experience. When someone changes established…

I don't usually log all zero-cal stuff like added salt, pepper, artificial sweetener, diet drinks, and spices. Once in a while I might eat an extra bit of something like a handful of my kid's popcorn or maybe small square of chocolate when it is late and I can't be bothered to fire up the website or the app. Or an extra…

One thing at a time...the list can't be tackled at once. Also, he has got to be really ready for a change or it just isn't going to work. You can't make him fix anything, you can only help by being there in a positive manner. Be supportive, do fun things together and talk about how he could approach quitting smoking. That…

I've used the GCN spin videos that Paul Ryman leads and found them to give a hard workout if your follow his cadence and resistance instructions. I don't think they do these in for the nursing home! I can keep a Z3/Z4/Z5 HR no problem with these.

Ummm...this is a joke, right? Right? ;)

Ride bike for an hour and eat normal dinner. Or, just let it go into the red for one day. Or just be hungry for one night. No big deal.

The Italian part of me just died.

Nice! I'm considering a Moto to replace my ancient 1980s era Fuji. I'd be interested to here your review on it once you get some miles down.

IMHO, its not a big worry unless you have hypertension or some medical problem. Don't overdo it, and drink enough water to flush it out. Your kidney's are pretty darn good and regulating sodium levels to what they should be.

Did you ride the day before? Or, maybe you are getting something like a flu or cold. That can sap your energy. Maybe if you rested a while and let the gel work in. How long did it take you to recover once you got picked up? The last time that happened to me, towards the end of a long solo ride, I got back home, but it was…

Experiment. All these numbers are an estimate anyway, and people tend to under count eating and over count exercise. Eat a little more or less, get your exercise in regularly, and eat some of those calories back. You will be able to find that sweet spot over time. You will be able to tell if you are eating too much or too…

^^Yep. Non stick pan and a smidgen of oil or butter, like 1/4 tsp works great! Or the spray, if you like that stuff.

Really great idea in this thread! I like the idea that you keep the pasta, but lower the percentage of it, and up the veggies and other stuff. Gotta try one of those spiral cutters for zucchini and go for a 50/50 mix.
-
Just eat less of it; it might not be easy, but at least you get to eat some!
-
Congrats - I love hearing your determination on this. It will get easier. Keep in mind that you may get sudden intense urges to smoke, even many months after you stop and there is no longer a chemical dependence. Do not give into any seemingly harmless thought to "just have one," that you get from a friend or from an old…

Nice results...you can really see the difference in your face. As some others have pointed out, you look much younger too.

I'd say the stationary bike is your best option. Mix it up - high cadence, low resistance, and low cadence, high resistance. Do some standing pedaling too if the bike can handle that. Even better would be to use a turbo trainer on the bike you plan to take on the trip. It will get you used to the bike and the saddle…

Very good! You look like a different guy...younger too!

Real impressive -- great job!

Just checking back on this thread and that machine looks like the best price-point and size and weight capacity match I have seen yet for what the OP was looking to get.
