Good morning:flowerforyou: 7 miles for me this morning. Great day for a run here in NC. 55% humidity. Nice... Nathan water bottle review continued: Today I tried the same hand position on my other hand. I was more comfortable wearing the bottle on my left hand. The bad news: Because of the "race cap" feature, this bottle…

Good morning:flowerforyou: Rest day for me. Looking forward to 7 miles tomorrow. Jess - Can't wait to hear how your tri goes! Enjoy the day -Kechie.

Happy Friday:flowerforyou: 4 easy miles for me today. I went out an hour earlier than usual trying to beat the heat. I beat the heat and got 98% humidity instead. I think I prefer the heat...:noway: Nathan water bottle review: I liked it much better than my fuel belt handheld b/c I did not have to hold it at all.…

That is hilarious!   That is one thing I have not had a problem with - blisters.:embarassed:

Wow! This thread is rocking with success today. Way to go everyone! It is great to see everyone posting. Even those that are resting or injured.:flowerforyou: I got my new Nathan water bottle today. I can't wait to run tomorrow so I can try it out. Shoes: It just depends on your foot type. I am normal (pronation-wise) but…

Hi there:flowerforyou: When I read this, I wondered if I had something similar the other night. I know it was not from lack of hydration. I love my water. To get comfortable, I layed on my back and put a pillow under my calves. -Kechie.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery:flowerforyou:

Congratulations on your second grandbaby! You inspire me. I hope I'll still be logging lots of miles when I have grandchildren.:smooched: I started training for what has become my annual half marathon this week. The half has become my new favorite distance. I can hardly wait for November to get here. Take…

Good morning:flowerforyou: Much needed rest day for me today. Thanks to my interval workout yesterday I was flat out exhausted last night and slept like I was in a coma. Don't you love those sleeps? They are especially sweet for me because I am a chronic insomniac. Running regularly is one of the few things that resolves…

"Tinkle offering plate"! Raymond, THAT was funny. It's not an offering plate. You're just passing the bottle till it gets over to the curb and out of the chute. I'm glad that you have never seen this in 13 marathons. I have no interest in doing a full marathon at this point. However, it had crossed my mind that I…

The same thing... Last year when I ran the half, I saw countless people (men and women) going potty along the side of the road along the race route. Most of them behind trees. Some of the guys were just at trees with their backs turned. I could not believe my eyes at first but got used to it after seeing groups of…

What kind of dog did you get? I had 2 dogs a long time ago. I think I am finally over them and ready to think about getting another one. A good runner would be a plus. Please do not keep reading if you get grossed out reading about normal bodily functions. I feel for you. I only have one kid and have been spared the…

Warning: The extreme sport jelly beans have caffeine.:noway: I use the Sport Beans.

Definitely not good for you. I think about getting a root canal when I add 100% sugar to my dry mouth on my run. I eat them about an hour into a 2 hour run. I don't eat any before the run. I'm too busy inhaling my pancake breakfast. My favorite long run breakfast by the way. Although, I am guilty of eating a packet…

They are made by Jelly Bellies and they are so YUMMY. My supermarket has them in the section with the Cliff Bars and the Luna Bars. If your supermarket doesn't have them, check online or in a running store. I got some in a race packet one day and I was hooked.

I am no expert on lifting. I too lift on my off days. I would think you would be tired running the day after heavy lifting. A personal trainer once recommended I focus on the number of reps and sets but not the weight. She had me lift enough weight that I was struggling by reps 10-12 but not so tired that I could not…

Congratulations on your marathon goal.:flowerforyou: I started training for my second half marathon today. Like you, I have 15 more pounds that I want to lose. I am going to forget about them for now. Training is so demanding on my body that I am going to fuel appropriately so I can arrive at the starting line strong and…

Keep in mind that longer distance running requires those long lean muscles versus big powerful muscles. Those big powerful muscles need to be fed more often so they probably wouldn't be a burden for short distance running but may be a pain for a longer distance like the half. Why not lift on your rest days? Run 3 or 4 days…

Welcome back:flowerforyou: How long are you going to be running? I find that I do just fine without gels etc on my long runs, about 1:15 now. Last year when I was training for the half and started running for 2 hours, I still could not bring myself to try the gels and felt just fine using sports jelly beans. Of course, I…

Good job!

Glad you survived and way to go for getting in your run this morning. A root canal sounds like a good excuse not to.

5 mile tempo run for me this morning. The goal was: 1 mile warm up 800 meters in 4:05 with 400 meter jogs (repeat 3 times) 1.5 mile cool down I struggled and banged out 4:16, 3:58(yay!), and 4:40.:ohwell: Apparently, I wasn't too gassed b/c I was able to jog the cool down. Just one of those runs... Enjoy the…

Hope this helps: I saw a suggestion to divide the calories burned by 1.5 and keep in mind that it is just an estimate. I am not sure how often you should update your max HR. Does anyone know? I apologize for going off topic here. As we get healthier, don't our hearts get more efficient? I know my resting HR gets really low…

 Heather I don't have any suggestions. Keep us posted.:flowerforyou:

nationalrunningcenter.com They are sold out. I ordered mine this spring when there was a big sale on the site. When I placed my order, I had no idea I would love it so much. I ordered one of every color in my size. I received one white shirt.:ohwell:

Please share more info. Moving Comfort has a lot of styles. I did purchase a pair of their shorts on clearance recently. I was disappointed because the rise was too high so it looked like I had on grandma shorts (the waist band fell way above my belly button). In all fairness to the Moving Comfort people, this issue…

That is a great suggestion. I know the Polar has a resting heartbeat setting. I am not sure if the Garmin has a resting heartbeat setting but I know it has a weight and age setting. All definitely important settings for the calories burned calculations.

Wow! That is a huge difference. I have heard a similar complaint from another biker when he puts the gps unit on the handlebars. I have 5 friends who use theirs for running that say theirs work flawlessly for running. There is a great article on Runner's World about why calculating calories burned is so hard. I'm having…
