My favorite hot weather running gear: Saucony Speed Tank - I've tried other brands in this tank. Even though they look the same as my Saucony, they just were not created equally. My Target speed tanks don't breathe well. My Champion speed tanks start to ride up mid run.? The Saucony speed tank is super comfortable,…

Christine, I hope you get better soon.:flowerforyou: I too have plantar fasciitis. I have never seen a doctor about it but here are some things that work for me: I stopped walking around barefoot. I used to walk around barefoot most of the time. Now I try to never walk around barefoot. Whenever I think about it (sitting at…

Good Sunday morning:flowerforyou: 7 miles for me today. The stars did not align for me today. It was a pretty hard run. I felt like giving up several times but I kept on running. I've been eating crap for the last 2 days. For example, I ate 3 krispy kreme doughnuts yesterday.:embarassed: Plus, I stayed up too late…

Good morning:flowerforyou: Happy Friday! 5 miles for me this morning. Not too hot this morning - a great day for a run. Enjoy the day -Kechie. Btw, the new shoes felt great. They will take some getting used to. I found myself resisting the urge to bounce up and down a couple of times during my run. Apparently, I had really…

Thanks! I am so proud of you. You're doing an awesome job with your running - not letting the kiddos keep you from it. I used my daughter as an excuse for not running for years. Good for you!:drinker:

I still don't run daily. I've read that you get the actual benefits of running on your rest days. So, if you ran yesterday, your body is healing itself - repairing tiny tears and building muscle today. Walking uses different muscles. On my days off, I always go for a brisk 30 minute walk or ride my bike. Sometimes I do…

I thought all of the hrm had chest straps with wrist watches to display the information.? I wear mine just below where my bra sits and no it does not slide down when I get sweaty - and I get very very very sweaty.:embarassed:

Hi there:flowerforyou: I started running 2 years ago using Couch to 5K. Like you I had a hard time as well. Hang in there. It took me 4 months to get to week 10. I repeated several weeks. Many of them more than once. Last year, I ran my first half marathon, 13.1 miles. If I can do it, you can too.

Welcome Maz! I would recommend giving signing up for a race a try. Personally, being financially on the hook was motivation enough for me to train. It also made me want to train since I was training for something. Then, once I got to the race and had so much fun at the race, I was hooked on signing up for races and…

Welcome Jtintx!:flowerforyou: I love my Garmin 205. It does all of the above minus the hr monitor. The Garmin 305 does all of the above with a hr monitor. I am going to upgrade soon. I found a Garmin 305 at a really great price on amazon.com this morning, $162.12 and free super saver shipping. This is the lowest price I've…

Good for you. Congratulations on your decision to start running again. I'm a new runner. I've been running for 2 years now. I love what running has done to my body. Even when I weigh more than I want to, running keeps me in shape.(I hope that made sense  ) Couch to 5k is a great program to help you get started…

Good Sunday morning:flowerforyou: 7 miles at a very easy pace for me this morning. It was eerily quiet out. I guess everyone was sleeping off their celebrations. Enjoy the day -Kechie.

:drinker: to WW and GG! Welcome back fitat41! Welcome Bgood! I am not sure about your shoes Christine. I would seek out a second opinion.

I take water if I am going out for 5 or more miles. I also take water for my speed and tempo workouts. I used to try and skip the water. My workouts are so much better with just a little water. When I am going out for an easy paced 3 or 4 miles, I don't bring water with me. Btw, I don't have a belt. I just drop a bottle…

Congrats on the bike GusterGirl! I ride occasionally too just to mix things up a bit. Biking is a nice change of pace b/c it works some muscles you don't get to use running. Shuntae - I remember needing an afternoon nap when I first started running. I would get up at 5 am to run and every day like clock work by about noon…
