  • Very funny story Heather. Thanks for sharing:laugh:
  • I used to live in Richmond. It must be the Ukrop's Half Marathon.
  • Good morning:flowerforyou: A little over 5 miles for me this morning. I am one of the southerners battling the heat and humidity.:ohwell: This morning I left about half an hour earlier and I was amazed at the difference that made. Enjoy the day -Kechie.
  • Afternoon Runners:flowerforyou: Welcome Vanimami and Kimiquious! Today is a rest day for me. Just got back from the pool with the kiddo. It is smokin hot and humid here today too. Enjoy the day -Kechie.
  • I forgot about that! That was my experience too. It was frustrating b/c people kept asking me if I was losing weight and I wasn't even though I was looking more fit. Hang in there.
  • Congratulations on signing up for your first marathon! Welcome to the site. This site is amazing. You will get so much support here. I am a new runner too. I have been running for 2 years now. I ran for over a year and did not lose a pound. Once I joined this site and started tracking my calories I started to lose weight.…
  • Congratulations on completing your first race Shuntae! Great time too!:drinker:
  • Good Sunday morning:flowerforyou: 7 miles for me this morning. I don't listen to music when I run so I think about things. This morning I wondered if I could get the benefits of running without running would I still run? I am ashamed to admit that I decided that I would not run.:ohwell: I am more addicted to what…
  • Afternoon Runners:flowerforyou: Welcome Kelynn:heart: Today is a rest day for me. Some awesome runs posted today. I can't wait for my long run tomorrow. Have a great weekend -Kechie.
  • There was a recent study on Runner's World that recommended stretching after you run. I personally am not good at stretching at all.:embarassed:
  • Good morning:flowerforyou: 5 mile interval workout today: 1 mile to warm up 800 meter @ 4:16 w/ 400 meter jogs between 1 mile to cool down Funny thing: I am repeating this workout b/c I did not hit 4:16 on every interval last week. Today I thought I would run the route in reverse just to mix things up a bit. Omg, there was…
  • Good morning:flowerforyou: Sherry, Msarro, and Christine - get well soon:heart: Another rest day for me. I walked for 30 minutes with my daughter this morning and did one of 8 minutes in the morning weight routines. Funny things I've seen or heard on my run: I was once chased by a cat. Yes, a cat! Not sure what I did but…
  • Good morning:flowerforyou: Today is a rest day for me. Off to the pool! -Kechie.
  • Definitely! I put enough water in the frying pan to half cover the beans. Then, I boil them until the water is gone - turning them once. When the water is all gone, I turn the heat to medium, add olive oil, a little salt and pepper, stir fry, and enjoy hot.
  • I don't think you are being selfish at all. Last year when I was training for my half marathon, I would meet experienced marathoners for a long (2 hours) run. They were serious about their training and they were never late. They always arrived early to stretch and hydrate so we could start running at the designated meeting…
  •
  • :flowerforyou: Me too. I gain 5 pounds like clock work so as an earlier poster suggested I just avoid the scale until a week after TOM leaves. Stick to your plan and be sure to drink extra water.
  • Good morning:flowerforyou: 7 miles for me this morning. Mixing things up this week. Living on the edge. A HOT and humid run at 7 am this morning. Rant: I am a friendly runner. I wave or say "good morning" to the people I see along my route. I don't mind if people stop me and ask for directions. This morning a very…
  • Good morning:flowerforyou: Great job runners! Today is a rest day for me. Enjoy the day -Kechie.
  • I have one of those water bottles that straps to your hand too. I find that it messes up my running form too so I don't use it. Instead I drop water bottle(s) along my route on my way out. That way I can pick them up on the way back. I'm thinking about getting a belt that carries water. I am concerned about wearing a belt.…
  • Good morning:flowerforyou: Wishing RunnerDad a Happy Father's Day! Are any of the other guys Father's? If so, Happy Father's Day to you too!:flowerforyou: Just 5 miles for me today. I went to 2 birthday parties this weekend so I thought I'd ease back into my workouts. It is very humid here. Can't wait to hear what…
  • Happy Friday! 5 mile tempo run for me. At 7:30 am it was 78 degrees with 72% humidity. The heat index 82 degrees. I was HOT and not in a good way. 1 mile slow to warm up 3 miles @ 9:32 1 mile slow to cool down I feel good today. It is my daughter's birthday so we are off to get manicures and have lunch together. The…
  • Good morning:flowerforyou: Today is another rest day for me. I would normally do my speed or tempo workout. Since school is out for the summer, I'm going to start doing speed or tempo workouts on Fridays. We're off to the pool this morning.<yay> For those of you getting beat up by Negative Nellies and Neds in the real…
  • Hi there Misty:flowerforyou: Sorry you are having this problem. This is going to sound weird but have you tried drinking coffee? I am not sure if it really does work or not but I have heard that it does help. Don't give up b/c it does sound like you are literally full of crap. Hang in there and you should see a loss soon.…
  • Way to go! I LOVE the feeling of having my butt kicked by speedwork! Speedwork has helped me improve all areas of my running. I think it also toughens you up mentally. Once you've cried for your mommy during some speedwork and survived the workout without dying everything else is relative:drinker:
  • Good morning:flowerforyou: Glad to see everyone posting today. Today is a rest day for me. Have a good one -Kechie.
  • A "long" run is anything longer than your race distance that you run at a comfortable pace. So if you are training for a 5K, your long run will be anything longer than 3.1 miles that you run at a slow comfortable pace. As far as the 3 minutes slower, if you currently run 10 minute mile pace on your short run, you would run…
  • I look forward to seeing you post Raymond. Post how your biking is going. I'd love to hear about it.
