If this is the same story I saw, this guy only runs a mile or two most days and he runs it at a relaxed 11 minute mile pace.

Welcome:flowerforyou: I'm a new runner too. I've been running for 2 years. Even now, no matter how far I'm running, I feel uncomfortable (not that I'm going to die though) for the first mile that I run. Imho, that "feeling that I'm going to die" comes from running too fast. For training runs, you should only be…

Ouch! Sonia, it sounds like you may have hurt yourself. I hope not! Keep us posted.:flowerforyou:
-
That is awesome! Way to go!

Get well soon Sherry:flowerforyou: Let us know how the doctor visit goes.

I've used the Garmin Forerunner 205 for almost a year now. I LOVE it and find it to be quite accurate.

Good morning:flowerforyou: Today is a rest day for me. No running. Enjoy the day -Kechie.

Good afternoon:flowerforyou: 5 mile speedwork run for me today. It felt so good to run like someone was chasing me. Speedwork Run: 1 easy paced mile to warm up 1 mile @ 9:00 minute mile pace (very hard for me) 1/2 mile jog to recover 1 mile @ 9:00 minute mile pace (my actual average for this one was 10:00 minute…

Way to go! Super time too! I am fortunate to live in a very large subdivision so I usually run in my neighborhood. Occasionally, I get bored and drive about 10-15 minutes to run with a friend in a nearby city. I do my long runs on Sundays so I don't have to worry about squeezing in enough time. Running is usually the only…

Good morning:flowerforyou: Today is a rest day for me. No running but I did have to go to traffic court this morning. I hope you will never have to go to court. But if you ever have to go, I am warning you it is a hilarious place. You get to hear some of the strangest things that people (adults) do. The guy who was called…

Good afternoon:flowerforyou: I hope everyone had a wonderful safe holiday weekend. I ran an easy paced 5K today. It felt great to run and I feel a lot less stressed out.:smokin: Enjoy the day -Kechie.

Good job Ladies! I ran 6.5 this morning. It was smokin hot out this am.:smokin: Enjoy the day -Kechie.

Sorry to hear that you are still battling with shin splints. A long time ago when I tried running I had a very hard time with shin splints and ended up quitting running because of them. I hope you can find a solution so you can stick with it. A lot of the information on line recommends starting with your shoes. Even…

Which bra did you get? I am always looking. Let us know how you like it.

By the way, I did not run today. I am scheduled to rest today. However, I may head out for a run later tonight anyway. My stress levels are pretty high b/c my mother in law will be riding in on her broom this weekend. Wishing everyone a fun, safe, looooong weekend!:drinker:

Way to go! I too used c25k to get started running. I still remember not being able to run a minute. Last year I ran a half marathon. Hang in there. With consistency, you will get better!
-
Ditto! Your body needs fuel to run. I always have chocolate milk after my "long"runs. Also, check out Runner's World for a training plan. I used the Smart Coach tool last year to train and race without injury. Plus, I finished 12 minutes faster than my goal time. You can do it!
-
Welcome! Congratulations on your half marathon goal. I'm doing a half in November. Is this your first?
-
Have fun at the 5K. Can't wait to hear all about it.
-
You're welcome Becky! I ran my first half marathon last fall. It was a great experience for me. I plan to run the same half again this fall. I'll start training in July using the Smart Coach tool on the Runner's World site. It worked well for me. I arrived at the starting line and finished the race injury free. I also…

Thanks for your candor on the subject of posting.:flowerforyou: I run 3-4 times a week depending on my goal(5K, 10K, half marathon). My current goal is a 5K so I am only running 3 times a week. Here is my running schedule for this week: 3.2 miles at an easy pace, 5 mile tempo run, and a 6 mile long run this week. Next week…

It's super easy! Just post to our new thread tomorrow, "MFP Runner's Club". Post whether you are resting, running, walking, cross training, or sitting by the pool with a cold one.

Tempo runs and speedwork will make you faster! I use the smart coach on Runner's World to get my goal paces. My 5 mile tempo run today: 1 mile @ 11:00 minute mile pace warm up 3 miles @ 9:32 minute mile pace 1 mile @ 11:00 minute mile pace cool down To summarize: You're going to run 1 mile at an "easy"(you could chat with…

I am not sure why we change the post everyday. I joined this group last year. When I joined the group was already going strong. Throughout the day, I typically pop in and read and reply to new posts. To see if there have been any new posts to our thread, I just click on the "Community" tab. Then I click on "My…

It is great to hear from you Natalie! I feel the same way. I did not want to do my tempo run today. It was all I could do to get myself out the door. I exited my house anyway knowing that I'd see my MFP friends posts when I returned.

I would not recommend it. This is what happens when you only garden once a year. There is so much work to do. While I was outside working, my neighbor of 10 years told me I was looking "so trim and fit lately". I am mentioning this because currently I weigh the same thing I weighed when I started running two years…

Good afternoon:flowerforyou: No running for me today. Today was a "rest" day. I accidentally spent 5 hours gardening. I completely lost track of time and was almost tardy for carpool.:embarassed:
-
Happy Monday! Today was a "rest" day for me. I have an "easy" run on the calendar for tomorrow. I can't wait.
-
Thank you. You are so sweet. I do not stop at all. When I first started running two years ago, I would "need" to stop or take walk breaks. By practicing pacing and running long runs, you will learn to "rest on your feet". These days, if I accidentally go out too fast (which I still do), I have learned to slow my pace…

Way to go! If you covered 6 miles in 60:21 with 4 stops, I believe you can do it! I would recommend focusing on your fuel and hydration plan (what you eat and drink the night before, the morning of, during the run, and after the run). I would also recommend focusing on pacing yourself. Try to really hold yourself back…
