I think you've got a good handle on this. Just be clear with your goals. Lose weight - just needs a calorie deficit. More nutrients - eating more veg. Reduce muscle loss as you lose weight - lift heavy. Et cetera.

Squats 5,6,7,6,5 @ 101lb Bench 5x5 @ 61.5lb (a couple of these were slooooow) Rows 5x5 @ 62.5lb I then messed about with the dumbells and some triceps extensions and pec flies. And I did 30 Russian twists (with 11lb) 30 stomach crunches and 30 more twists. I'm going to research some proper auxiliary exercises for those…

I agree, I can't see fat there. If you want abs you just need to build them up. As rabbitjb said, If you want muscle definition then do a heavy lifting / eat at surplus bulk

I lose an extra three or four pounds before the holiday. This has worked for me in the past. I come back to being a little bit over my "zone" and a couple of days later I'm back where I want to be on the scales.

My day is pretty similar to yours - housework, sitting at a computer, walking the dog and popping to the shops... I easily hit 10 000 steps and thought that this would be a fairly average number for adults. MFP taught me otherwise.

It took me until the next morning, when I saw my weight had decreased. And every day my weight went down a little bit more. I also rediscovered exercise. I joined a gym. I bought a heart rate monitor and ate back nearly all my calories (but I was on 1200 to start with).

Women are not bad at maths! Nor are girls for that matter. (Just bad at colours, in my case!).

(Any other Brit reading this in confusion?). Congratulations dareal you look strong, healthy and happy!

Thank you madhatter must be a language thing :) To me, measuring food would imply either weighing or, perhaps, counting units.

What did you mean by this??

Today's lift was a bit 'meh'. Last night in bed I'd thought, "I'm so fed up of thinking about weights and reps and calories and protein - I think I need a break. Squat 6,6,6 @ 89lb. I did 6 because I'd accidentally not put enough weights on. Squat 5,5,5 @ 139.5lb. I think that this needs to stop, I'm not getting low enough…

I meant the tone, not the content :) Didn't mean to make you feel you couldn't discuss alternatives to 5x5!

What's a water pill? Who was walking the dog before?

Definitely a compliment, she's absolutely lovely.

So you're planning on using this free app to help you earn money?

I do lots of dynamic stretches before lifting jo focusing on my hips, and during the day, when appropriate and when I remember, Asian squats. If I've just done a set I'm not happy with I do a few very low body squats, hoping to remind my body what it should be doing. I had a tight muscle in the groin which was really…

Is it me, or is it getting a bit "main forums" in here?

I've just realised who you remind me of Krok. Have you heard of MelAndSue? You remind me of a young Sue, you've got her smile.
-
Ooh yes, I've done that.

Congratulations on your success. It's easy to do what you did for a couple of weeks, but your dedication week in, week out is seriously impressive!

merlynian do you run and want to track your run statistics? Do you do cardio and want to track your calorie burn? Count steps? Monitor sleep? These are the kind of things which seem to differentiate between different trackers.

Gym has been closed since Wednesday, so I was very ready for this morning. Squats 3x5 @ 101lb (for form) Squats 3x6 @ 134lb (for ego). Bench 5,5,3,4,3 @ 61.5lb (follows a deload) Rows 6,6,6,6,6 @ 57lb (deload for explosive action form). All-in-all very enjoyable. Got a bit of "help" doing the bench from one of the men who…

I too wondered why this was just aimed at women, but then realised I was on MFP.

After a bit of research, I'm waiting for the new Fitbit Charge HR to come out.

Difficult to tell whether that post is supposed to be deliberately creepy Bob or just disrespectful.

Interesting, is yo-yo dieting physically harmful? I can imagine it being mentally unhealthy.

I understand what you're saying, at what point does natural fluctuation become repeated weight gain and weight loss. My weight has maintained for about three months within +/- 1.5lb. I weigh about 130lb and am female. From what I read on here I think I don't see the same fluctuation most people do.

How tall are you?

Good to see so many people lifting and to have crabada back. Afternoon lift for me, not my usual 6:30 start. Squats 5,5,5 @ 79lb (for form) Squats 5,6,5 @ 134lb (for ego) OHP 5,4,4,3,3 @ 51.5lb (not sure where these are going) DL 5 @ 150.5lb (bit of a rush as 3 boys let me jump in, they can't have been much over 14 years…

Why do you want to eat them? What's your definition of "good for you" (it means different things to different people)?
