LoryBear I really think that MFP is probably the worst place for women to discuss body shape. madrose Just wanted you to know that you're not the only one recognising the misogyny for what it is.

My weight hardly fluctuates at all, compared to what I read others reporting. So, I maintain between 9st 4lb and 9st 6. I weigh in every morning and if I'm above 9st 6lb (ie every Sunday morning) I eat at a bit of a deficit that day.
-
Well, I got my lift in. Squat 5,5,5,5,5 @ 112lb OHP 6,6,5,5,5 @ 46lb - slowly taming this bugger. DL 5 @ 150.5lb Fairly pleased with that, form is getting sloppy at the moment. Reckon I'll just push the weights a bit higher until I need a week off and then de-load some of them to work on form.

Welcome new members! Really appreciate everyone who takes the time to log their lifts - so inspiring and educational. Hope to be getting to the gym this morning...
-
Me too.
-
I was told to let the barbell fall backwards and push my body forward. The only time I've failed though is when a PT was spotting me and recommended a totally different stance for my feet.
-
I think that's a big part of creating new habits. Logging means you can spot patterns and triggers etc (as you already have). Next month, could you hold off the binge for another day, or until the afternoon, or finish a day earlier? That kind of thing.
-
Do you continue to log honestly and accurately?

Hi Everyone, mixed report from me. Squats 5, 6, 6, 6, 6, @ 105.5lb followed by 5 with 111lb (turns out I can do this, so will move up next time). Bench was a disaster did 2 at 60lb-ish so decided to return to 51lb and still failed all over the place. Urgh. I hate Bench, and I was surrounded my massive men lifting huge…

I'm maintaining, so perhaps this is a little different, but I find that it helps to plan for high calorie days by losing some extra weight to "eat in to". This has worked for me, so that a day or so after over-eating I back where I was.
-
Squats 5x5 @ 106lb (am determined not to get a mental block at hitting 100lb). OHP 5x5 @46lb (STILL rock hard). Deadlifts 3 @ 156lb (bit of an ambitious increase and felt under pressure because someone had let me jump in to his rest period).

And there's a whole discussion for men discussing whether they prefer real or artificial boobs. Talk about objectification. These forums disgust me sometimes. I can't imagine homophobia or racism being tolerated, welcomed, at the same level.
-
Same here. OP do come and join the 5x5 group, the posters there are very knowledgeable and supportive.
-
Repeats? That's the beeb for you.
-
Really interesting link, thank you.
-
Well, quite. The typical idea here is how rugby players have unhealthily high BMIs. But I don't think that's what the OP means when she says she's "plus size".
-
Yeah, how dare a woman be popular and successful whilst being that size. Hang the witch.
-
I'm only three months in to maintenance, but these are things that work for me when I've over-indulged. - I weigh every morning. - I have a target zone. If I'm above the zone I eat at a slight deficit that day. - If I'm within the zone, and just feel bloated or stuffed I aim for maintenance but tend to under eat just from…
-
What number does your contribution come under?
-
Thanks for taking the time to reply, I was not familiar with the term "plus size". I suppose, looking at your definition of healthy weight, we can not debate until we know what is meant by "desirable". Could be society's current definition based on aesthetics or definition in terms of health benefits.
-
You've mis-quoted me at 7:10 brdnw. They were not my words.
-
I'm sorry you thought that your thread got too heated and that you didn't actually want a discussion. I'm very sorry you feel shamed or attacked or told that you need to be thin. That is not my reading of the discussion. Best of luck on the rest of your journey!
-
We agree that thin does not equal healthy, that's not what is being discussed here. I also understand that some over-weight people can be healthier than they might otherwise be (eg. fitter or disease-free). However, being over-weight has (poor) health implications. Diabetes, heart disease, joint problems as well as related…
-
I think that some of us are questioning because her goal isn't to be thin or beautiful. It's to be healthy. Being over-weight is not healthy. Being a healthy weight is healthy. Because she started a thread "throwing it out there".
-
Consistency for me. Getting to the gym 2 or 3 times a week (depending upon work) and adding reps and then weights. I know this is a bit vague, but I feel that I've just recently had success and now I want to consolidate these.
-
I was thinking this. I also wonder if she feels that setting a goal that is less than over-weight is somehow betraying her over-weight self and/or others.
-
Am I right in thinking that "plus-size" means over-weight? Tea I don't think that this has to do with self-confidence / self-acceptance. You talk about health being your motivation in your first post. By definition being over-weight is not healthy, so I'm not sure why you'd stop at an unhealthy weight. You ask me to…
-
This does not appear to be true, unfortunately. Well, fortunately for me because I can't stand tea.
-
Also, OP, have you read the "So you want a flat stomach" post? (It's worded something like that).
-
They say that abs are made in the kitchen, i.e. diet is key for a flat tummy. I know that big meals and drinking fizzy pop both give me a bloated look. My PT reckons that stress leads to higher cortisol levels which leads to the body storing fat around the middle, but he's on a bit of a hormone thing at the mo.
