Interesting, I haven't thought about this before. Why do you want to be over-weight but not as over-weight as you are now? Congratulations on completing your first week!

I suggest reading the Maintaining forum.

I really admire your numbers there, and the fact that this has taken so much commitment over so much time. Inspirational.

I wouldn't know how to do that Krok, but it sounds like an idea worth trying. Welcome and congratulations to new posters. December absolutely rocks I lifted at 8am this morning rather than at 6am, and I left the gym feeling invincible. Squats 6,6,6,6,6 @ 101lb (Definitely going up next time) Bench 5x5 @ 56lb. Yes. 56lb.…

Welcome to MFP eddie izu how about learning other ways of dealing with your emotions, other than eating?
-
I would add "6 plan your eating in advance". The benefit to packed lunches, for me, is I can weigh and record my food more accurately and plan my choices in advance.
-
I gave up on the weight-lifting and focused on weight loss. I guess there was muscle loss that I could have prevented, but I didn't care. I've been much happier at goal and starting the weight-lifting again.

I love yoga, but am a recent convert and participant rather than "leader"!

Packed lunches don't typically contain cooked items, do they? What about salads or sandwiches that you like?
-
You can't cook? You don't have time to make a packed lunch?
-
Genuine question - how do you get as far as signing up and finding the forums without doing all of the goal-setting and reading about calorie counting?
-
I am going to record as best as I can (even thinking of taking my kitchen scales along to Christmas dinner!). I'm not concerned about staying at my calorie-goal, but I am very interested in the numbers and long-term tracking of calorie-intake, body weight and performance at the gym. In terms of over-indulging outside of…

Saturday morning for me. Nothing extra special, nothing disastrous. Squats 5,6,5,6,5 @ 101lb OHP 5,4,5,5,5 @ 46lb. Again. DL 5 @ 134lb In other news, two of bulky big men who work out at similar times spoke to me. One complimented me on my squat form (but said I didn't need to go to parallel) and another said any time I…

Wow, prompts there to keep me busy researching for days! Thank you so much.

Ta to katro and krok for the advice. You make me want to go back to the gym tonight. Oh *kitten*. I didn't mean OHP. I meant bench. I am so sorry. I only realised when I read what Krokodor said about bending knees, and I thought, "Huh?". (Do you mind advising again?) Actually, it still makes sense. Even with my "heaviest"…

Thanks for taking the time to reply. My beliefs differ from yours, but I was nevertheless struck by your choice of language.

First lift of the week due to w*rk. Squats 5x5 at 101lb (triple figures baby!). Bench 5,5,3,3,3 at 51lb Rows 5x5 at 60lb-ish Question I am frustrated with the lack of progress on OHP and really frustrated with relying on PTs to spot. Today's PT was behaving like a 7 year old who had been told to go and sit next to a girl…

I think calorie-counting at maintenance is a bit like using Head & Shoulders ("But you don't have dandruff") isn't it?
-
I just walk to the gym and/or do some jumping jacks and dynamic stretching before lifting. I aim to do no more than 2 cardio sessions a week (normally 45 minute spin class) and try to make yoga once.
-
I have found that I like the stuff at Asda, and when desperate I will venture in the jumble sale from hell that is Sports Direct. However, I don't look good at the gym, if I achieve clean and tidy I count that a success.
-
I'm sorry, that made me smile canadian I pause for a split second at the bottom, concentrating on my form and even with that I've had advice to speed up.
-
If you're telling us it's genuine hunger and not thirst or comfort eating then you need to decide whether you choose hunger or putting on weight I guess.

Firstly, I'm getting the impression that the holiday season is quite long in the US. For us (in our house I mean) Christmas will be dinnertime on the 24th December until 2nd January, and that's an unusually holiday in so far that we've booked off the days in between too. In the past I have "prepared" for a holiday by…

2 or 3lb is not a significant amount, although I respect your wish to get to 130lb. I would advise you aiming for maintenance and then sticking there for a few weeks before trying another cut.

"God, holy war and terrorism"?

I am in love with lifting at the moment. Squats 5x5 @ 95.5lb OHP 5x5 @ 46lb (still) DL 5 @ 145lb Great atmosphere in the gym this morning, nice and quiet with mostly serious lifters there to work out rather than talk, and my favourite PT was on. And for some reason my adductor isn't hurting at all at the moment. Crabada I…

(Is anyone reading this and thinking "Thank God for the NHS"?)

How about trying maintenance and giving yourself a bit of a diet break?
-
What an amazing piece of luck, you sound very excited (and I don't blame you). I advise "slow and steady wins the race". Just stick to your calorie goal, day-in, day-out. No need to cut anything out. Eat back half of your exercise calories.

Really impressed with the lifting from last night! Crabada your progress is great.
