OMG, this was brilliant!

A co-worker/friend came up to me one day in the office. She put her arm around my shoulders and whispered the words I desperately needed to hear: "Judy, I love you but you're too fat." She then kissed me on the cheek and said she would do whatever she could to support me while I got healthy. When I tell this story, some…

Congrats! Gotta love the tangible proof that what we're doing is working. :flowerforyou:

I also grew up reading more than talking so saw a lot of words that I knew the meaning of but didn't know how to pronounce. Imagine finding out I'd been trying to impress the cute guy upstairs by discussing my favorite 'jenners' instead of genres. LOL Gawd, I still cringe thinking about it. ;)

Diagnosed with celiac disease in December 2013 after 43 years of agony. I also have a sensitivity to xanthan and guar gums so eating the "gluten free" labelled foods isn't always an option. I read somewhere that apparently gluten-free labels aren't necessarily true. If I recall correctly, in Canada, GF foods can still…

Wow! That's a true accomplishment and a definite investment in yourself. Wish I was as dedicated.

I look at it as a really tangible way to learn what a serving actually looks like. It's quite an eye opener with some items! I'm in Canada and we use the metric system. Trying to figure out how many cups of yogurt 100 grams is was driving me nuts. Admittedly, not a long trip.....but I digress. I bought an electronic scale…

New here as well and I noticed the same thing. It helps that the database contains a lot of actual brand names. For a while it was taking me three or four attempts to find the "right" salmon or orange or even almonds that matched with my item. I love the ability to build your food list to select from so you only have to do…

:) Nothing wrong with smilies! :D ;) I use olive oil now and then but my go-to is coconut oil. I can't remember who mentioned it to me but I found it kind of odd at first as the "oil" is actually a solid. :) Not horribly pricey and although some people mention liking the taste, I honestly haven't noticed any additional…

Thank you! I do appreciate the kindness in these responses. Exactly what I was hoping for. My small amount of weight to lose isn't much compared with where I started in 2008. I have kept over 60 pounds off since that time. It was a battle for me, as it is for most people. I allow myself a 2-3 pound 'easement' around my…

Sure has! Used to be an 8 and now it's more often 7.5 and sometimes a 7 depending on the make.

When you see a change like this is when you know the effort has all been worth it. Well done and you must feel pretty darned proud of yourself!

I used to have people guess my age as much, much younger than I was. Lately though, they're pretty close and I've had a couple of folks think I'm older than I am! LOL My plan is to tell people I'm 70 so I can hear the "OMG you look amazing for your age!!" again.

Has to be the one ten years ago for my current position. It was on Halloween day. I was ushered into a meeting room where Howdy Doody and Annie Oakley were waiting for me. I responded pretty well to questions but was having a super hard time making eye contact. I have an easily triggered sense of humor and I knew if I…

I used this site until I picked up my food scale: http://www.convert-me.com/en/convert/cooking/

I found the same thing when I started here on Monday. I just scroll through the choices that match what I'm looking for until I hit on the metric or imperial measurements I want to use. :)

Anything that tasted remotely like chocolate. It remains my huge weakness. Can't even have it in the house!

5' 4 1/2" tall and my goal is 135lbs. My body's goal however, is 138lbs :) That's about 7 pounds from now. I've been at between 138-140 since 2008 after losing 60-some pounds. The 7 pounds snuck on while I wasn't paying attention. :\

This is my favorite comment in the entire thread! Haha!

My terrible date started out with me thinking I'd been stood up. Met this guy online and the plan was to walk along the waterfront boardwalk and then pop into a neighborhood pub. He was supposed to show up outside my apartment building at 7:30pm so I waited in the lobby as I didn't want to give him my suite number. By 8:00…

Diary is open, but I don't have much to look at yet as I just started here yesterday. I agree...seeing what other people are eating helps me come up with ideas on how to make my own meals interesting! Feel free to add me if you like.

Hi Melissa! I'm here for that same reason. This seems to be a really active forum and I'm sure we both will get some great support here. :) You sound like you've had a real battle - don't forget to give yourself credit for the fact that you've made it this far!

Wow, I consider your response to be rather judgmental and perhaps a little rude actually. Not quite the supportive atmosphere I expected to find when I decided to join MFP. Not everyone is the same....what works for you doesn't necessarily work for the next guy, ya know?

I may be a 'single digit' poster, but I lost 63 pounds in 2008 and kept them off until the past four months when a health issue was discovered. My game plan is just fine thanks ;)

Amazing! I applaud your openness and your generosity in sharing what has to be a very proud moment!

Just started here and am eating 1,200. I'll open my diary....all one day of it! ;) I can eat plenty of volume on that amount of calories. Good thing I love my fruit and vegetables!

It's okay to not be 'perfect'. :) One of the biggest lessons I learned along my own journey was that if you slip up, it doesn't ruin the entire day, or the week.....you simply get back on track with the very next thing that goes into your mouth!

Checking in from the Vancouver, BC area. :)
