  • I’m definitely in this boat, but can’t find the motivation to grab those oars and pull pull pull. I’ve got one excuse after another... today was a challenging end to the week when something irritating that may come back to bite us came up... and so I gave in to the child’s nagging for a takeaway. Then had ice cream. And…

I need to do a better job of not going over goal on a daily basis. Even the pain of those red numbers doesn’t seem to be enough to keep me…
  • My total this week (so far): 167 minutes. All walking. Group total: 853
  • I want to be able to run 5k. Then I want to run 5k in 30mins. And there is a pair of jeans at the back of my wardrobe that I bought just before Christmas one year when I was at my lightest and fittest that I wore once, then Christmas happened and I have never fitted into them again.

I feel like I am inching slowly towards my goal. I could go faster, but then I’d have to eat less, and I am not doing very well at moderating my dessert snacking. Just some…
  • Challenge start weight: 143 Challenge goal weight: 136 Weigh-in #1: 142 Weigh-in #2: 140 Weigh-in #3: 140 I’ve been feeling really bloated for the past couple of days, so was quite surprised not to see a gain on the scale. I’m pretty happy with a maintain, I think last week was a freakish low anyway. Managed to run 4km /31…
  • Ran for 31 minutes/4km without stopping for a walk break. Still some way to go to get to my pre-illness fitness levels (and then more to get back to where is I was in 2012) but it feels like significant progress towards my now delayed fit-for-40 goal of a 30-minute 5k.
  • I always find I drink more than other people. Some unadulterated water but also water with sugar-free squash added, and Diet Coke. I’ll typically have a big glass (400ml maybe) of squash first thing, a couple of 330ml cans of DC (my coffee substitute) and at least a litre of water during the day at work, then another…
  • Challenge start weight: 143 Challenge goal weight: 136 Weigh-in #1: 142 Weigh-in #2: 140 Comments: I admit, I delayed weighing in by a day because I went for a run on Sunday and ate salty salty gammon for tea. A day later and I am 2lb down. Am I cheating? Probably! I’m pleased to be back to my pre-Easter weight and am…
  • Challenge start weight: 143 Challenge goal weight: 136 Weigh-in #1: 142 A positive thought I had this week was: Running is starting to feel slightly easier, and I am starting to enjoy it again A healthy snack/meal I chose this week was: I had some ‘green’ soup, which would have been lovely and healthy, had I not paired it…
  • I’m also 5’6, and currently 143. I have mfp calculate my calories and if I set it to ‘lose 1lb a week’, it bottoms out at 1200, which I think gives me a deficit of around 400 cals, or 0.8lb a week. I’m set to sedentary and use Fitbit (synced to mfp) to determine my activity level, and most days get a decent extra chunk of…
  • Start weight: 158 (July 2017) Challenge start weight: 143 Challenge goal weight: 136 Comments: Weighed this morning and was surprised to find myself only 1lb up, despite having eaten a huge pizza last night (soooo good). Plus wine. And that’s on the back of an Easter weekend of general excess (and wine. I don’t normally…
  • Hi everyone. I'm El, 41, from the UK. I'm currently 142-ish, trying to get to 130 (ultimate goal). I'm trying to lose the weight I gained and regain the fitness I lost during treatment for breast cancer in 2016/17. I lost 12lb in the winter challenge (then regained 2 in the final week), and am on week 5 of couch-to-5k. My…
  • This sort of thing has happened to me a few times - I use Fitbit to track steps. There seem to be two reasons: 1. I add an additional exercise because I am not wearing my Fitbit at the time (usually swimming or stationary bike). MFP assumes I was wearing it, and so subtracts those 'extra' calories from my Fitbit…

  • It's not going well. I have a weekly total so far of 63,115 against 67,782 this time last week. I've got to get around 19,000 steps today if I am going to beat last week's total! I blame the "Beast from the East" and Storm Emma.
  • Getting steps is the only exercise I do. So that includes both intentional exercise and general activity. A half hour brisk walk plus the school run and other day-to-day stuff will usually get me my 10,000 steps.

  • I've checked yesterday's steps (11,852) against last Monday (12,255), so I am going for a weekly total that beats last week's 82,056! Yikes! This is going to be a challenge because winter has just re-arrived in the UK and this week is forecast to be colder and snowier than any other week this winter!

  • Oh yes. A monthly subscription to REEEEEAAAAAALLLLLYYY good chocolate from Hotel Chocolat. I had a rather large setback in my weight loss goals when Hotel C opened a branch in my town. Expensive, but so good.
  • My LA friend alway insisted that Del Taco was better. I didn't have enough experience either way. We don't have Wendy's either as far as I know. When I came back from my 9 months in Southern California (a long time ago now) there was virtually no Mexican or TexMex in the UK at all. Now there is at least some!
  • I am still waiting for fast food tacos to break the UK. They aren't common.
