  • Went to a Florence & the Machine concert Friday night (she was amazing), got wildly drunk afterwards and spent the weekend eating away my hangover so not a brilliant few days on the diet front. Saying that I am now *officially* the lowest weight I've been since reaching my full height. Ever. Like ever. A few more pounds to…
  • Cheers @acstl & @vollans ! I agree, nothing like seeing results to motivate you to carry on  Have a good weekend everyone!
  • What. A. Week. Started my new job on Monday, been waking up every day at 6am to be in work for 8am-4pm, commute home and go to the gym from 6pm-7:30ish, eat dinner and then collapse into bed at 10pm. One more day 'til the weekend! B) I've managed to put in 4 5km runs since last week and even though it kills me to do it I…
  • I just joined a new gym as well that happens to be a 2 minute walk from my house (so no excuses for me!) I went last night at 'peak' time and it was wonderfully empty aside from 3 or 4 other people which bodes well :) I may have been a bit too keen though... my legs are very reluctant to walk this morning :#
  • Having a similar issue myself atm. Just moved back to uni and I'm now using a different set of scales than I have been using over summer at my parents' house. I've tested them against each other a few times and my 'new' scales consistently read 1.25 lbs heavier (so I may feel cheated out of 1.25lbs at my next weigh in!)…
  • Congrats @vollans & you too @kaylarenee8910 !! :) Had another blip at the start of this month but have been trying really hard again this week. Decided to start running as I'll be moving back to uni next week and won't be able to take my bike unfortunately :( I feel super self-conscious running by myself but with the gym…
  • Had a really good 2 days of eating within my goals & exercise, I notice that when I eat a big protein heavy breakfast I tend to have a good day without feeling too hungry and binging. @annemmr Right? How some people manage to eat twice the amount I do and not inflate is beyond me.
  • I'm eating ~1800 cals & we're both fairly medium build - he's slightly taller and eating a lot more calories since he's not trying to lose weight at the same time as build muscle, which is a little tricky :/
  • My gym buddy's arms have been getting noticeably bigger than mine in the last couple of weeks & i've been struggling to keep up so I invested in some matrix whey protein that I saw cheap on groupon. Eaten well within my goal today and don't feel too hungry, if only every day was like today! :)
  • BIRTHDAYS! Curse birthdays and having 3 friends born in the same week! Big meals and heavy drinking do not a fit body make. Seeing the scale go up sucks. Nevermind, we all need to have fun sometimes I guess, back on it now.
  • Hello to everyone, it's been a while for me as well (so forgive the longwinded message!) Lost ~15lbs between Feb and May, proceeded to stupidly stop tracking, had a holiday in Spain in June and went up by 5lb again. Started tracking again at the start of July and back down a few pounds :) I've been going to the gym 3x a…
  • Hey everyone, been a while since my last check in. Decided to update my goals so now aiming to lose 10lbs in just over 6 weeks. Up to now I've been super light on exercise and quite generous with treats, so I'm going to try to cut alcohol out for May and hit the gym a few times a week. Summer is coming!
  • Hey everyone, had a nice few days in the sun and resisted the free pizza that was being given out at uni. I've been hovering ±200 around my calorie goal all week, I should probably start being stricter with myself and plan ahead. A friend of mine is paying for so-called "laser lipo" treatment over the next few weeks. It's…
  • The Easter break was horrific for my diet, I'd be lucky to maintain weight at my next weigh in! Nevermind I'm back on the wagon as of today. Congrats @bhagarmckee 35lbs is a huge achievement!
  • Thanks @sweetleilanimae (& @guinevere96 @sappho123 for the earlier messages!) I've been looking after my sisters cute little French bulldog puppy for the last couple of days while I've been home, it's very lively and ready for walkies every 2 minutes so it'll give me a chance to get out a bit :) Sorry to hear about the…
  • Hi everyone, turns out it was indeed tonsillitis but the doctor prescribed me some antibiotics and I now feel much better :) Had a peek at the scale and it's down by 4lbs since last week but I'm taking that as water weight loss and expect it to come back as I start eating more solid foods again so won't log it ;) I'm…
  • My iPhone tracks my steps through the day so I've no real need to get one.
  • Hi all, been absent a few days with a pretty bad case of flu. Feared it was tonsillitis but everything's the normal colour besides the inflammation. Finally starting to clear up (thank god for lemsip!) I've been trying to eat normally over the last few days but my appetite has been non existent
  • Drank far too much last night to celebrate the end of the term, then this happened. I can't decide if I'm happy I fell asleep so didn't eat the extra 1200 calories or devastated that I didn't get to enjoy a one off treat.
  • Today is a good day. I met my deadline, break up from uni for Easter and lost 3.4lbs since the start of March. My metabolism has usually slowed right down at this stage (51 days and counting!) but as I haven't starved myself the pounds keep coming off. Such a good feeling watching the scale go down! Ready to get…
  • People's circadian rhythms are entrained to the light-dark cycle but can be modulated by feeding and activity. "For all we know" and for all you know are not the same thing. (Is that even still a "thing?" - seriously, when there are entire journals and university departments dedicated to it, how can people so confidently…
  • Hopefully the link works (quite a lot of technical language for a non-scientist but the disease section is fairly easy to grasp) http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S016561471300165X# If not, it should be easy enough to find on google by searching "How to fix a broken clock" by Schroeder and Colwell, 2013. I'd…
  • With respect, I was speaking generally from scientific studies across large numbers of people. There is an established link between night time eating and weight gain; that is not to say a late snack will absolutely cause you to gain weight, you are simply more likely to, partly due to disrupting hormone levels.…
  • Improper feeding time is generally bad for you, especially if you are trying to lose weight (look up night eating syndrome). Appetite, digestion, nutrient absorption, insulin secretion and liver enzyme activity are controlled by your body clock. Your hormone levels are rhythmic due input from the body clock - as a result…
  • Wow that sounds amazing (and exhausting!) Yes definitely take tissues - I'm not a huge movie crier and I was quite literally sobbing at some points.
  • Took mum out for Mother's Day, we ate steak and drank champagne but miraculously I'm under my calorie goal! Also finally watched the Theory of Everything & ugly cried all the way through
  • My food diary was automatically private & I never felt the need to change that. Maybe I'd be less likely to log things if I knew it would be public, at least on my bad days. Also foodies would judge the hell out of my exceptionally basic meals
  • Water weight is actually a 'good' thing - sure it messes up the scale a bit but it's an indicator of higher muscle mass (muscle holds more water than fat). Personally I only weigh myself every 2 weeks and use a scale that measures body fat and muscle %
  • Try fortified cereals/bread to up your iron if you have trouble with pills. Also remember the database isn't perfect - iron, calcium etc. are often not recorded and most people actually get enough iron in their diet without supplements.
  • Friday night was cocktail night so I was obligated to go over my calories a little. I remember craving a pizza when I got home but thankfully I passed out before I could order one! Good luck on quitting smoking electriq :)
