  • This. Or give it to a friend/relative. Throwing away food is a terrible habit.
  • Read the original post in this and the links posted in it: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1080242-a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants Read again and make sure you've understood everything. Implement and keep reading just to remind yourself. If you have a regular exercise schedule, TDEE is a much…
  • It irritates me, too. I'd either use a 250 ml cup and not fill it completely but weigh it for things like flour, or if it's somethings that's really annoying to put in a cup (like butter...), I use this converter: http://www.gourmetsleuth.com/conversions/grams/gram
  • Heavy is highly subjective. For most people, your lower body will be a lot stronger, i.e. able to lift a lot more weight than with your upper body. Pick a beginner's lifting programme (Strong Curves, Stronglifts 5x5, AllPro, Starting Strength). Test your 1RM (weight you can do only one repetition with) by picking up a…
  • Agree. Or the instructional videos by bodybuilding.com.
  • As most people already suggested, lift heavy. Stronglifts 5x5, New Rules of Lifting for Women, AllPro's beginner routine and Strong Curves, e.g., would be good starting points. Make sure to either get someone competent to help you with proper form or watch youtube videos and film yourself so you can compare. Good form is…
  • Not sure if I should open a new post for this but it still does fit in here quite well so keeping this one unless someone says otherwise ;) I'm on week 4 of AllPro now. Have stopped using different weights as advised and am starting to feel comfortable with the movements. I recently finished reading Strong Curves and like…
  • I started going to the gym in the mornings mainly because my gym is tiny so it doesn't take a lot of people to be crowded and right when it opens at 7am seems to be the only time it's empty (it certainly isn't after work). I absolutely have to force myself to get up and go there by reminding myself that later I won't want…
  • Pulsin Whey Isolate. It's a bit pricey but no weird chemicals, GM free and made from hormone free milk from grass fed cows.
  • Alright, thanks again. And I'll check if I can find some local advice.
  • Thanks. I didn't know MobilityWOD before but looks interesting; I'll definitely check it out (also reminded me that I've been wanting to read 'Becoming a Supple Leopard' for ages but still haven't been able to find it second-hand). In your opinion, would a foam roller be helpful, though? I saw a smallish one for around 15…
  • Admittedly, I haven't even thought of that. I have noticed, though, that I can feel my obliques working when doing OHPs on the stronger side but not on the weaker one. Alright, I'm convinced. Would it be ok to substitute the OHPs with push presses then (maybe partly, like once a week)? I've been trying to find a decent…
  • Hm, thanks for the answer, even though obviously not what I had hoped to hear :blushing: Honestly? I know that's the general recommendation and I can see the balance argument but it's pretty d*mn frustrating to do it that way. I guess for Upright Rows I could bring myself to do it since the difference isn't that big. But…
  • Ok, digging this out again. I'm in week three now and feel like I'm already making some progress, including on the shoulder issue. I'm doing OHPs and Standing Upright Rows with different weights for left and right at the moment but would obviously like to gradually close the gap there. Do you have suggestions on the…
  • I've recently started AllPro's beginner routine (http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=155009423&page=1) since, for some reason, it seemed far less intimidating to me than SL, SS etc. The routine already includes warm-up sets. It consists of Squats (-> Goblin Squats) Bench Presses Bent-Over Rows Overhead Presses…
  • Ok, thanks everyone, so the short answer to my question is no  You're right....I missed the tiny note on the package that said so. I've previously been buying the refrigerated versions for baking for vegan friends and just bought a shelf-stable one for the first time since I thought it would be great for work.…
  • So overall it's kinda like the gluten-free frenzy it seems... Obviously, if you can't tolerate dairy for one reason or another or are vegan or simply prefer the taste, that's very straightforward. Like I said, I use it at work since it doesn't need refrigerating (I'm allergic to soy milk apparently even though I'm fine…
  • Full-fat cheese!! Yogurt either full-fat or 2% low-fat Greek yogurt (recently found one that tastes good and doesn't contain any weird additives) - I usually buy plain yogurt, though, and on the rare occasion that I get fruit yogurt, I get organic and full fat. Milk either full-fat or semi-skinned (1.5%). I grew up with…
  • If my last meal has been a while, which is usually the case, I tend to have a smoothie or juice (not from concentrate and definitely no added sugar) before my workouts to give me some carbs. I also tried actual fruit but smoothies or juice works better for me digestion-wise. Afterwards I usually have breakfast or dinner…
  • Unflattering. I agree with the people who said that the cut of those bottoms doesn't work for you. One size might not help that much (and trying to compensate for an unflattering cut with bottoms that then turn out to be too big isn't a great idea - been there...). I'd also go for a different colour, something less pale.
  • Ooooh, this sounds like so much fun. Put me on the waiting list - preferably Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff but I'll take any house :)
  • Good morning! Since I've been terrible about posting since I got back, I thought I'll do it early today. Hope you're all doing good and enjoying the summer! I know Sherry's on vacation, what about the rest of you? Any summer plans? I'll now be working for the rest of the summer. I went to the gym for the first time…
  • I went to the gym yesterday to figure out my 10 rep max for the exercises. Squats and deadlifts felt fine but I'll see how it goes as I progress. There's no step so I couldn't even try step ups. Much to my surprise I could even deadlift with a barbell strengthwise (only exercise where my 10 rep max is over 20 kg) and I…
  • Thanks SS. I guess I'll just try and see how my ankle and knee feel. I'm still struggling with getting an appointment with a specialist but at least I've now received my info from my previous doctor so I know that the exact length difference in my legs is 1.2 cm.
  • Hey everyone, hope you're having a wonderful Sunday! My vacation was really great and it was supernice to spend some time with my mum (I live quite far away so haven't seen anybody from my family since last year). We had the worst luck with the weather though, cold and lots of rain. We spent one week in the countryside and…
  • Just a quick hello back from vacation. Am supertired but had to turn on the computer for a work-related email so thought I might as well log in here. Will go collapse on the sofa now but will be back tomorrow if I don't get crushed by all the laundry I have to do... Have a great weekend everyone!
  • True ^ Didn't get around to writing yesterday as I had another lazy day and probably the first day in I don't know how long that I didn't even turn on my computer. I'm off for two weeks now. I should at least get in a lot of walking/hiking during my vacation and will try to stay on track with my eating. After I get back,…
  • Just to let you know I won't have internet for the next two weeks. Would be great if you got around to going through it at some point during that time. Thanks!
