It could help, but it really think the reasons it helps are more due to other factors, not the tea itself. I love green tea in the afternoon with a snack because it has just enough caffeine to get me through but not so much that I can't get to sleep. I once read about a man who decided to start drinking a cup at the end of…

This is how I have done it before. Now I just log it at an average speed, so if I find my pace was 12 mins per mile total over the workout I figure out my speed and log it under walking that speed. I find the number I am given is usually close to what my fitbit charge HR says I burned.

I hadnt either...

Yep, we like to break it down into basic math but it will never be that simple. Your body is incredibly complex. I would keep tracking and see if it averages out to be the loss you're expecting.

Im guessing your progress will slow, mine did. I honestly dropped 20lbs in my first two weeks of counting calories. I had a lot to lose though and it definitely slowed down. Go ahead and eat your calories, just make sure you're being accurate. Measure foods and double check entries for accuracy. Then you wont be going over…

I could really use a hobby, maybe I could learn to knit :) I would say there may not be scientific proof of that phenomenon but heck I sure believe it! Our bodies get scared when we change things up and tries to hold on to what it's used to. I'll adjust!

Any ideas how to motivate my sedentary male counterpart to join me for walks? I have tried a few times to get him to come along because he has objections to me going out alone after dark. I feel like wording it as breaking the association really helps because thats what it is, Im just conditioned to expect food when I sit…

Closing the kitchen at a certain time would work! We eat late dinner due to work schedule, so often dinner isnt until 7 or 7:30. Maybe 8pm would work for me!

To be fair, Im on my feet all day and keep a clean house out of habit. The time Im speaking of is the very small window at the end of the day where I actually CAN take a half hour to chill and watch an episode of modern family or south park. Everyone needs down time, but eating during this time is the habit that needs…

You are literally never too heavy to run. I need to find out her name but there is a very largewoman I follow on tumblr who runs and finishes marathons, and she doesnt finish last. Physical ability may be compromised by size at large weights but not yours. Get that booty moving ;)

@daz2270 Im rarely dealing with true hunger, which is unfortunate. I just need some practice saying no to myself I think. Its tough!

I couldn't move on to week 2 until I felt SOLID at week 1, which I repeated twice. I always rest one day between runs so now Im following their schedule but do what works for you.

Find something you enjoy, dancing around is fun and walking outside is good for your head. Basically start slow and be gentle at first. When I first began with a goal of 100+lbs I was overwhelmed but I committed to just 10 minutes on an elliptical a day. At my level of fitness it was all I could do. But each week I added 5…

I've got about 60, I think this morning's weigh in was a little inflated from excess salt over the weekend but its not too far off.

I personally feel this is way sad. My partner doesnt watch what he eats like I do and he is always respectful of eating his treats in another room. If im really having a tough time resisting cravings i brush my teeth and go to our room, so he can eat out in the living room. Cravings due to PMS or any reason at all are…

I agree to skip the pills. A few weeks ago I had a moment of weakness and bought Slimquick. I just felt like peeing all the time and jittery. I really dont think they're worth it, if anything a little jolt of caffiene before a workout may increase performance or at least make it easier to push yourself but a cup of coffee…

Enjoy it, food is meant to be enjoyed. I "splurged" a bit and had a slathered PB&J, it wasn't "clean" or even very healthy but it was good! The key is not eating only dominoes every single day. I'm sure you don't, which makes it totally fine. Personally I plan my splurgy type meals out every few days so my cravings never…

I add protein to every meal because I have the same issue, except I just plain have a hard time hitting my protein goals every day. I add canned chicken to soups or salads at lunch (for convenience, someday I hope to bring it cooked from home to reduce processed foods), always have an egg based breakfast (either a single…

Congrats on getting started! My best piece of advice is make changes you can actually live with for life. I restricted so much my first time around that I eventually just broke and couldn't do it anymore and gained half my weight back!! So start slow, give yourself time to really learn what works for you. I found I really…

I will have to try a few times to get through your story, the first paragraph is threatening to have me cry in public. So many times I felt those same feelings and just thought I deserved all the pain. Im so glad the story ends well!

Saddest and HARDEST part for me! Its still a super sore spot and its been over a year now. But if it had been me, and my fat lonely best friend gained a hell of a lot of confidence, met her future husband, and started lapping me during exercise I may have gotten jealous too.

I honestly can't start or I wont stop. It has to be that simple or I will never recover from this problem. I will brush my teeth extra well and go read or talk to someone if needed. Gum would only stimulate my stomach into wanting food, even if I'm not physically hungry.

I sure wish I had your goals! Dang that sounds awesome. But today I had 3oz of shredded chicken, a can of progresso light veg soup (my favorite!) with hot sauce, and a little clementine orage.

I tend to spend money on meats first, then fill in with veggies. Mostly canned or frozen out of convenience sake not just cost. I feed men who don't much care about calorie or nutrition content so I will make a side dish for them from pasta roni or some basic rice. The dinners i make are cheap, easy, and rotate often. I…

Be slow when adding the flax! I added the full serving right out of the gate and stopped myself up solid. It is fine to buy ground if you keep it in the fridge and use it fairly quick. I would look up more details though as far as how long it lasts past opening. But I always grind my own because I dont use it too often,…

I'm fairly similar, also 5'7'' and my goal right now is also be to at 200lbs by my birthday in January. I lost just over 100lbs in a year and gained about 50 back in the past 10 months. Ouch!! So what I learned there is that my first loss was too fast. I got lots of will power and worked SO hard that I broke inside.…

I believe this exact issue was why I stopped seeing progress and let myself get so deeply discouraged. I didn't think to re-analyze my information and find the problem I just gave up. This post really helped me understand something I didn't get before. I now know that my 1400/day is fine if Im not exercising but when I do…

Thanks for this! Im still establishing my plan and skills to follow through, but I have only ever gotten a 5 day streak because I skip the weekends when Im home and relaxing. I know I overeat on the weekends, and if I can be honest with myself maybe I will see how my weekend eating is sabotaging my 5 days of awesome…

A good scale and measuring cups will help, be as accurate as possible. Personally it sounds to me like your long cardio may not be effective. Perhaps try a shorter period of time with higher intensity. Do intervals on the elliptical. I used to like to do about 5/6mph with a 10 resistance (out of 20 on the machine I used),…

Plan for it in your calories. I'm thinking of lightening my lunch today to leave room for a glass of wine with dinner! Its all about the planning :)
