The unknown can be scary. I don't remember being thin ever before either. I started with a goal of losing 10% of my body weight and have achieved that at least. Just focus on feeling as good as you can! Eating better and exercising makes you feel good, so embrace that.

Roasted yam with a pat of butter in the microwave to warm up.

Unfortunately I have to weigh my food and count calories to lose. I tried stopping and it wasn't working. I also eat more veggies and stuff when I'm keeping closer track :/
-
Weigh your food and don't give up, even if you gain for a few weeks. Don't demonize foods or food groups. Keep things interesting by cooking new foods and ingredients, taking a different exercise class, walking around some neighborhood you don't usually go to, etc

Being realistic about what I can actually commit to. I try to lose 1 pound a month. Seriously. I can't be hungry or I overeat so I lift weights and have the smallest deficit ever. My goal is to be under 200 pounds when I turn 40 in 3 years :)

Pat's and Geno's are both terrible

Just keep going! A few pounds or a week of vacation won't matter if you look at the big picture and realize that healthy eating is a lifelong journey.

You look amazing! Please focus on your very real achievement. The loose skin... Nobody is focused on that but you and you can work to move past that negative emotion. Treat yourself with the same love and respect that you would treat someone else.

Eat a baked sweet potato with a small amount of butter and some cinnamon :) you'll feel better.

You can put ranch powder in lowfat yogurt and thin it with milk to make a healthier version of ranch dressing/dip.
-
Craving sweets can mean you need more carbs. Do you eat whole grains and fiber-rich foods throughout your day?

Strengthen your deep abdominal muscles--do dead bug, mule kicks, planks, side planks. Practice diaphragmatic breathing where you lie on your back and breathe deeply as you visualize your stomach expansion, try to pull your belly in all the way, Kettle bells with good form can help but pack your shoulders, no elevated…

You can do it! I'd rather be fat and a non-smoker. Also I find getting regular exercise is a huge source of motivation because you can feel your lungs working and cigarettes are a hindrance to that.

I like them sautéed with onions and taco seasoning like cumin and chile pepper as a taco or enchilada filling.

I know what you mean... It's weird to change. I am nervous to change more but I'm so excited that I feel better and physical activity is so much easier. If you're feeling weirded out by looking not fat, maybe practice self-acceptance by thinking about all the ways our bodies are in flux throughout life.

High blood pressure even though I'm pretty young, lots of pains (back, hips, feet) and my mom has diabetes. I don't want to be sick in the near or far future! I'm losing slowly, consistently and seen major blood pressure improvements, pain is not much of an issue anymore. Exercise and healthier food has given me so much…

Awesome! :)

Download ad blocker here: https://adblockplus.org I also use something called privacy badger to stop tracking cookies and other invasive marketing crap online.

It keeps me full way longer than regular bread. I actually found a similar bread at the local bakery that I buy but it's the same concept--higher fiber, sprouted, etc. I also love wasa whole grain crisp bread (which is more like a very hearty cracker). If I am going to eat bread and crackers they need to be high in fiber,…

Yes! I love it.

me too lol. I just prefer fat, still losing .5/lb as calculated by mfp. I aim for good fats though. Avocados, eggs, olive oil, fish, etc. It adds up over a day though.

Congrats on how far you have come! Now it's time to work on your mental state. If the weight thing (# on a scale) is bumming you out, try a new goal for a while: strength, balance, endurance, etc. Look realistically at how these goals could fit into your life. Put a kettlebell by the bathroom and do 10 swings every time…

I like balega but only the thin ones that go above the ankle :) they're great!

If you have an active, physical job then just cutting calories and tracking food might be enough to see progress. Setting huge goals such as working out 2x a day or losing 100 pounds can prevent you from working out at all or losing anything because it seems so unattainable. I think something small to start like cutting…
-
thanks! I never ever focus on the scale. Sometimes it stays stuck or wobbles for weeks, I believe if your diet is reasonable and you're working out a lot/doing any form of consistent strength training, the scale is only a small part of the narrative. Feeling good > any random number on a stupid machine.

I log breakfast because it's usually kind of straightforward foods (eggs, toast, etc) and then just add a rough estimate of calories. I've been doing this a while so I have an idea. I usually just maintain on vacation due to walking a lot, dancing, swimming, etc. It ends up being about even.
-
Took me about 7 months and I have a lot to lose. I have being hungry though, aim for .5 pounds a week average and I take breaks to eat at maintenance ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Not in a hurry.
-
I am almost at the goal I set! 3.4 pounds down...goal is 4 down. I think I can manage that within the next few weeks. I <3 attainable goals, lol.
-
bumping this! Are you guys still trying to reach goals? I can see from the spreadsheet that this week is my TOM bloating time so I'm unlikely to lose any "weight" but I'm still going to do my kettlebell class, track food and try to stay positive.

I started on MFP cause the doctor said my blood pressure was too high for my age. She said if I lost a decent amount of weight within 6 months and the blood pressure went closer to normal, then she would not make me take meds for it. I lost about 17 pounds in 6 months and she was really happy with the blood pressure…
