I mostly do this for our family holidays but I also do it for peoples baby showers. We just had 2 (girls) born into the family 2 wks apart in Sept. I bought these when summer clothing went to 70% off, they will get them for Christmas and fit into them at the very least by Spring and if theyre still too small for them…

What about trying to look in your local phone book under "government" Or call some official sounding people/business and try to track a # down that way. Can you do a online search...Id help you but Im not sure what customs border your friend would be crossing! My Dad worked for our side of the customs border in WA going…

WoW! Great Job!!

So glad it went well for you...good luck!!

LOL, Im with you on this 1 Misty! I was a "regular," almost too much sometimes so Im all too happy to only be going so much. Besides, I know its just this way right now because so little is going in at this point. Im sure itll all be different as time progresses and Im able to eat full(er) meals.

This does not surprise me the least bit! I was done with ALL my requirements June 11 and w/in a few days insurance had approved me (I know this because I had called them about something else). I was really hoping for a summer surgery...1st because I hate cold weather and hate the snow even more so I wanted a running start…

Tortilla Land has Corn tortillas that you have to heat up in a pan for 60 cals each
-
Kate, I was wondering how/where youd done that! Thanks!! This is so neat, what a concept!

Kate, whenever I buy clothing gifts (for kids), people are amazed that I would think to buy them way bigger than where their child is at now! For example, when summer things went on clearance I bought several outfits for nieces and nephews. They will get some kind of clothing for later when the weather starts to heat up…

What about Carnation Sugar Free...I believe theres 13 protein in 1 Sleeve. You could just take them out of the box (I want to say 1 box has either 8 or 10 packets), tie them up w/ a rubber band to keep them all together. I recently had surgery and for added protein I have to incorporate extra protein to help me heal. I use…

What about "hiding" them in lasagna or finely grind/puree and mix into your hamburger patties, do this with meatloaf too or mix it into your spaghetti sauce! Just get creative
-
Just curious...is that a special scale that can show your water intake?
-
Well, it sounds like Im around where I should be....even if "their" expectations are different than what my body can handle just having had the surgery 3 wks ago. This situation had me thinking the other night...I know there are people from that office who have had WLS but w/out going around directly asking, I wouldn't…

Garber, just think of it this way...you saved money by getting them now and with the holidays coming up, Im sure youll have plenty of opportunities to wear them!

Yeah, no kidding klcovington! It takes me forever to get through my food(s), I feel like Im little again being left at the table while everyone else is done and has moved on...lol! 1/4 c of anything in the past would not have satisfied me at all and now I look at a small pan of soft cooked beans (or whatnot) and think…

Maybe you should find out before your friend goes and buys it to make sure it can be taken across the border, that would be a financial loss to everyone otherwise!

Holy Moly Rob....Awesome!!

I was mainly curious about how people went about eating in restaurants post-surgery! I will be starting my 3rd week on Fri so I have yet to step back into a restaurant...maybe in a couple weeks when my food choices have expanded some...who knows

DJRonnie, as I explained the way we have always tipped is based on what the "actual" total would have been if it hadn't been for a coupon/deal. We typically tip 20% based on what the charge would've been as I still got the food and it was still brought to me (service)! Of course if all they did was fill up my drink and I…

I use Pure Protein found in my local grocery stores (on sale $20 for a huge container). I will be starting on wk 3 Fri and Im not even 1/2 done. I have a sensitive nose for "vitamin" or medicine smelling stuff and a bad gag reflux so I was happy that this brand worked for me. The vanilla is mild in flavor so when I was…

Authorwriter...I was just wondering how you go about this in a restaurant? I had posted a thread about eating out after having surgery and I got some great suggestions but Ive noticed your post a couple times about going out to eat. So, I was wondering, how does that happen when you go sit at a table and the waitress comes…

Yeah...I used to be a gumaholic...I could actually chew on the same piece for a couple hours. I tried today and I noticed I got a fair amount of saliva build up, so much so that after maybe 5 minutes I had to throw it out....that's not like me
-
Yeah...I had that in mind from the beginning as a "subtle" way to get extra protein in. Then I made the mistake of buying a generic store brand of unflavored powder, mixed it in w/ my 1st week of broth and gagged it up! It was like Id taken a swig of sand and there wasn't enough I could do to fully get all of it out of my…

For me to even imagine getting enough liquids in would literally require me to have a bottle duct tapped to my hand  If Im not running to the bathroom to urinate, Im contemplating vomiting :cold_sweat: It will be nice when life as I once knew it would get back to at least semi-normal....Im not asking for too…

Radcas, that's me right there! Initially I was glad to have found a powder w/ a taste that I could enjoy but the party seems to be over quite suddenly and taste buds have ran :flushed: Now its the dreaded...I have to drink enough of these just to come close to 70 while trying to get in their food suggestions to fill in or…

So no one really knows how far back protein levels are detected  ? I was able to finally hit 70 today which is on the low scale of what Im required to take in but at least I managed that! When I was looking for shakes/powders they couldn't be more than 25 per scoop but once I add the "extra's" they end up being…

The "chaulky" liquid was how the surgeon explained it. It was Not "chaulky!" It was oily, slimy, foul smelling/tasting, just plain awful! This was only done the day after my surgery as a way to see on X-Ray for leaks. I was not required to do anything for my Upper GI surgery, only show up and go to la-la land (procedure…

Hello! Im about 2 weeks post-op, good to meet you Jade  Lisa

70-90 grams in my book is a good amount of protein! Im about 2 weeks post-op and struggling to meet the basic 70grams, how in the world can you be considered low?!?

Most times when trying/enduring something new, its hard because its out of our comfort zone! By your past posts it seems that you have already come a long ways so while this might fall somewhere in the slightly uncomfortable area, remember your end goal. Just as you've helped your family members achieve theirs (your Mom…
