How do you distinguish the implementation of "planning" from the implementation of "self-control"?
-
It does make the question the "you can't outrun a bad diet." I am about 95% certain I'm eating more now than when I was gaining 100 pounds. The difference is that I'm moving a lot more.
-
Does being easier for some people than others rule out "self-control" as what needs to happen?
-
Doesn't really matter, though. As long as you consistently weigh X ml of Y you'll get consistent results. Probably more so than with cups or spoons.
-
They both say the same thing. You need to control yourself. You're the only one who can.
-
Again, what's your alternative?
-
I think "this is on you, you have the power to make it happen" is pretty much the opposite of condescending.
-
What, in your view, would be more helpful response?
-
Very few people say it's easy. That it's not easy doesn't make it wrong, does it?
-
I think it is generally meant to point out that feelings don't change reality or that sometimes reality can be harsh regardless of how you feel about it. Feel whatever you want. Don't expect what's necessary to conform to your feelings, though.
-
I didn't actively choose to do it, I just didn't actively choose not to do it. If it's not self-control, what is it? ETA: And I don't know of many people who say it is "easy."
-
What have you eaten for breakfast during your life up to this point?
-
Eat less, move more. How you go about getting there is mostly personal preference, though you need to commit to making it happen.
-
And they often don't. That's why it makes no sense to try to link the two.
-
Doesn't really matter.
-
Except none of the things you list are in any way in conflict with what the "pedants" say.

4350 a day, averaged over seven days. More on lifting days, less on off days.
-
What effect are the calories having on your weight loss?
-
If you're pretty muscular, what "sounds quite heavy" for your height may well not be. Maybe focus on body composition, not the number on a scale.
-
The devices are terrible independently and beyond terrible when you try to compare across devices.
-
Correct me if i'm wrong, but did you just use "lol" while condemning the use of "derp" by adults? That's some sweet trolling or some utter lack of awareness, but it's hard to tell which.
-
Do what works for you.
-
If you feel like you might need a rest day, you might need a rest day. If not, then not.
-
If you can't say no, try not having it around. Otherwise, it's a question of doing what you know needs to be done.

Leftover turkey breast and chocolate pie on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Other than that, I don't really have one that stands out other than maybe homemade cinnamon rolls and chocolate milk.
-
Lack of patience, probably. You could also be eating too much. It will take a lot more info to be able to give more specific answers.
-
Self control around temptations and understanding that the world doesn't revolve around your whims are certainly a couple of key checkpoints, though.
-
Yes. Yes. 126 pounds.

The 2+ years are going to pass whether you're losing weight or not, right? You might as well work on losing the weight so that 2+ years from now you're in maintenance, not still looking at 2+ years of losing. Just do what you need to do without worrying about the time, because that's time is going to pass just the same…

Doesn't really matter what others think. They don't own the house. As between someone who owns the house and is providing a place to live and someone whose free will is overpowered by a jar of jam, it's not a tough choice for me, though.
