So far, I've eaten back my calories on most days. Mind you, I've only been at this for about a week. There are days, however, like today, where I seem to have burned a lot and need to have a 1k cal dinner to eat back my exercise calories... So I'll have to take it day by day. Also, I'm sort of paranoid that perhaps…

Thank you for the response, Lyssa. I am using MapMyWalk to determine calories burned during my walks and using MFP to log my food and exercise. Are you saying that regardless of calories burned and calories consumed, I should aim for 1200 net (so eat back exercise calories if I go under the 1200 threshold)? According to…

Jenna, that's great that you want to get your family involved. I don't want to pay for gym membership if I can't commit to it fully. Megan, how do you like spinning vs. walking? I'm a total novice when it comes to exercise. Walking really is the only form of exercise I know. Could a beginner like me do spinning and see…

Suruda, congrats on the weight loss. Good for you for losing weight! It's awesome to know that we can all get back on the proverbial wagon, even after gaining some!

Jenna, I really enjoy walking. I'm hoping it's my path to weight loss! If not, at least be my stepping stone to it? Soda/pop is something I have to go cold turkey on (I have the type of personality that's all or nothing). I hope you are able to eventually cut it out altogether. You look great in your profile pic, btw!

I have a few responses to the "why" question. 1. be healthy for my family (I don't want to die of a preventable disease) 2. have energy (I want to be able to dance and hike without feeling overwhelmed) 3. look good (look good, feed good)

I'd like to get back to between 110-125. My short term goal is to reach 150 by about October. That's 43 pounds I have to lose in four months.

Hi Megan! Thanks for the feedback! How did walking help you in reaching your weight loss goals? I'd love to join a gym and do more, but that's something I'll do once I've established a bit of a routine. I'll have to check out spinning as I've heard others mention it, too.

Hey, Kerstin! Welcome! First of all, I think single parents are superheroes who deserve endless praise for raising their babies in a safe, healthy and happy environment. Being a parent is tough! Focusing on yourself is a worthy endeavour and one that is full of rewards. I'm starting on my journey, too. I wish all the best…

Thank you for the very warm welcome! I went on a few walks last month. Then, I stopped. I enjoyed them. Refreshing 1 hour walks around our neighbourhood. I don't know why I stopped. I hope to start walking again. Thank you, all!
