Wonderful! I haven't lost nearly as much as you have but I would think that they actual benefits that you are already feeling not carrying those 50lbs around would give you the incentive to keep going. Please let us know how you are doing occasionally. I know that you are going to meet your goal.

you look great! congratulations!

69 lbs is huge. That's wonderful and you have such a great start at being healthy. Don't give up! You are worth it.

20's = 120-125lbs Most= approx ( didn't weigh) 205 Pregnant = 168. Before MFP = 179(been on it a month but was dieting before) Today = 173.4 lbs Goal = 125-130 I'm 5''5" tall and have a slight structure. So, weighing what I have has been painful. Pain is a great incentive.

Good evening! Today, after not such a good night's sleep, I still got up and did my exercise. Since I am a multi- media artist, and it's summer, I then went out to my concrete studio and poured concrete blanks so that when cured, I can sculpt them. That in and of itself is a workout since concrete is weighty. But, I feel…

The greatest motivation for me to get lighter was the pain in my joints. So, the favorite thing is being able to walk, sleep, climb stairs without dealing with the pain. I'd say my second favorite thing is being able to keep up with my Grandchildren. As I weigh less and less, fitting into my fun clothes will be a favorite,…

I plan on it! you have a great day too!

I love this! 5lbs X 20! In other words, you can eat an elephant on bite at a time. LOL. I know I can, I know I can, I know I can...

Thank you for your encouragement and suggestions. I will check it out!

Thank you, I'm there. I do agree that it's just a number, but just by the name of your group, you know it comes with different challenges. I'm proud of my years and wouldn't take any of them back.

You are very welcome! I learned today that even though you don't think you have much of a story, you need to share it. Share yours!

While I was reading about your struggles, I remembered an article from the Jan./Feb. addition to Shape magazine that a friend passed to me. Petra Nemcova. She's only 24, so what impressed me about this was not so much that she's in terrific shape, but she is amazing in so many ways. Her heart is as beautiful as her…

Searched for the group and it doesn't come up. Is a challenge different than a group? There was one, I think it is called 50, Fit and Fabulous, that I joined. Could the challenge be a part of it?

Thank you friend. Along with my own physical battles, My Mom, who is only 19 years older than me, and my baby sister who is 52, are so unhealthy and I've walked with them more so lately than before. Between my own deterioration and seeing their quality of life, I will not have a problem, other than patience, in sticking to…

Cool, thank you!

Glad that you are taking precautions early. I was a very precocious child and as such got injured a lot. So, I was never great at running because of scar tissue around my toes on both feet. But I love to walk. We have a marina here that is an amazing and wonderful 2 miles around and beautiful. I try to get there as often…

Thank you so much. I had no idea there was such a support system here!

Thank you so much!. I'm so blessed by you already.

Don't you hate it when this alien takes your body and leaves you with one you don't even recognize? Well, it's time to take back ourselves and show it what for. We can do this ladies and as you mentioned, there is so much more to it than just the weight. I love the nutrient values at the bottom of the daily food list you…

See, we do need to post and share. I didn't do this right away because I didn't think I had a story to share. So, the bible tells us that the older women should teach the younger women. God in his humor knew that by doing so, we would also be teaching each other. This is a life lesson to me. So come on ladies, lets reclaim…

I've been looking at a LifeTrak or something similar. I'm not sure how it all works, but I'm pretty good technologically, so Ill investigate. I'm interested in how they can log your sleep as well. I never know how much sleep I'm actually getting and I'm hearing that this has a lot to do with our goals. Thanks for all of…

Thank you! What an encouragement you and the others are. I hope that we Grandma's can show the younger set that might be struggling that we still got what it takes and can lead by example. Congrads to you.

I've been doing 30 minutes on the treadmill (Whimpy settings) and 30 minutes on the recliner bike (again, Whimpy style). The season lends itself to my working in the yard for at least 30 minutes as well so I think for starters I'm not doing bad. I take care of my 2 year old Grandson on Wed.'s and that is getting easier…

The great thing about being our age, is we were taught to own our situations. So, we will own this too! The best of luck to you and eep in touch!

I think that it's the fast weight gain that has hurt both you and I. If you gain slowly, I think your muscles have time to catch up. Not that I'm encouraging weight gain, but I see people so much larger than I who are not destroyed like I was. But congrads to us for seeing what needs to be done and doing it! I think that…

Fabulous! Chasing those little ones will be a wonderful and possible now....

Jeansuza! I'm new to MFP, so I haven't walked with you in your struggle, but WOW! I thank you for your open honesty in how you are feeling now. I think in doing so, you will be helping so many people who might, and probably will, face the same thing. Thanks to the decision you made 2 years ago, you have given yourself many…

Happy Mother's Day! I've made it through 2 Mother's Day meals so far and have another one today. I'm blessed but it's raking havoc on my meal plans....hanging in there and doing okay though.

Good luck on your Zumba Cert! I would love to do Zumba and will soon I hope. It looks so fun! Since last June I gained too much weight way too fast and my knees gave out. I've lost some since April 1st and the my knees are healing, but wouldn't dare Zumba yet. In a couple of months I'll put in my Wii Zumba and start small.…

Hi barbiecat and thank you for starting this. I'm Terri (SlimTerri57) and your post jumped out at me. I was born in '57, so I'm indeed 50+ and well aware of what that has done to my weightloss efforts. I started my serious goals April first and lost 9.6 lbs. that month. Thought that I'd do better in May because, with even…
