Welcome and good luck. You'll find amazing support and accountability here! I'm on the same page as you, I believe - I've been up and down and know I can get down again this time, but the big challenge will come in maintaining. I'm hoping that making great relationships on MFP and keeping up with the site even after I…

For 7/12 I've burned 892 calories! Edit - forgot the pre-run workout

I would quit my job, build a house, book a bunch of trips, and hand out some to friends, family, and charities. Then, put the rest in the bank/investments so it will last the rest of my life!!

Thanks for the input, all. After much consideration, my current list (in no particular order) is as follows: • Go skydiving • See the Egyptian Pyramids • Climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge • Run a 5K (Scheduled for Sunday!) • Camp @ Ayers Rock • Learn a martial art • Own a successful business • Become comfortable in…

Just 477 for Monday the 11th for me. Gonna kill it tonight though!!

Thanks, Louise - I will definitely be borrowing some of those! I already play 4 instruments, but the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Pyramids, being comfortable conversationally in another language (I already know enough of two other languages to pick up written meaning, but conversations are hard!), and learning a martial art…

Amazing job!! I'm an aspiring runner as well, running my first 5K this weekend. You're definitely brave to jump so quickly from 10K to a marathon! Good luck with the training :)

The last time I lost a lot of weight, I got tons of comments like that, which I liked at the time... in retrospect that was part of the reason I gained it back though, I believe (I've pin-pointed many reasons, and this is just one of them). My thinking is that all the comments, while nice, were keeping me in the mindset of…

This is my final week of training before my first 5K, so I will definitely be running. Given that it's also the first week after vacation, I also need to do some core work, but don't want to push too hard and be sore during that run. ;) So, all that taken into account, I think 2,500 is reasonable for me. Happy to say that…

Hello, all! I'm back from vacation and excited to contribute! I'm not sure if my burn from last week can count or not, but as I reported to Marsha I burned 2,176 while on vacation. Looks like you've all been doing great while I was away!!! :D

And HELL YEAH to you for this statement - couldn't agree more! :)

I'm thinking about getting Kettleworx, but in the mean time I'm trying to fit this into the schedule: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/268701-get-rid-of-flabby-arms-without-weights

You will definitely feel better at the end of the day if you skip the junk. Remember that YOU have control over what goes in your body and you don't need things that won't help you acheive your goals. Every time you prove to yourself that you don't need it you become a little stronger. You can do this!! :)

Totally love spin! Most classes will let you go at your own pace and it's up to you how much tension you add. When the instructor tells you to dial it up, it's up to you to decide on full turns, halves, etc. I have, however, heard of one class where they actually have speedometers and the instructor told them to get to…

Thanks, Lexy. Good to know that I'm covered. Similar to you, I'm not one to give in to temptations until I get to the bar! ;) Luckily, my favourite is gin and soda, so at least it's not too terrible! I just wanted to make sure that at least there are options that aren't all pasta and sauces and oily prepared dishes - salad…

Oh dear god, I'm glad someone posted this. I was feeling SUPER guilty because I'm currently 1.4lbs short of my vacation goal and only have until Sunday to get there. My reward, which I have been SOOOOO looking forward to was parasailing while on that vacation. I'm currently in the middle of an internal debate about whether…

Heehee. I'm living on both sides of that. Started out running at 240 thinking everyone was staring at me. Even though I was doing the C25K intervals, if there was another runner coming toward me when it was time for me to walk, I'd keep running until I passed them, knowing they would be judging if I walked. As I mentioned,…

Excellent post :D When I started running at 240lbs I was so sure that everyone I passed was laughing at me. Took me a few weeks to get it through to myself that AT LEAST I'M DOING IT!

I'm in the same boat! Tonight will be a make-up night. Or, maybe I'll split the catch-up into two since I'm off Friday.

Pre-packaged usually equals lots of sodium and preservatives. The success factor would likely depend on what the alternative is... if the trade-off is fresh salad v. TV dinner, I'd say stick to the salad, but if it's a convenience thing and it's Lean Cuisine v. McDonalds, well... you see where I'm going. ;)

I had a dream once that I was eating pretzels and it was one of those dreams where I was watching myself rather than feeling like I was doing it... and I was trying to yell at myself to stop eating! ;) And, pretzels aren't even that bad for you. Weird!

Woohoo, Shrinking Ship! An extra push to keep up the running during vacation is always good. :glasses:

Yesterday I was welcoming the excuse to walk from my office to the lounge as often as possible. Yey for the water challenge! ;) Mon - 80oz / 80oz - 100% Tues - 96oz / 80oz - 120% Wed - 120oz / 80oz - 150% Thur - ??oz / 80oz - ??% Fri - ??oz / 80oz - ??% Sat - ??oz / 80oz - ??% Sun - ??oz / 80oz - ??% TOTAL - 296oz / 560oz…

When I decided to start losing pounds and gaining fitness (started back in Feb), I did a 5-day kick-start to get all the processed junk and refined sugars out of my system. It's from the Cinch diet book (Cynthia Sass), and basically limits your intake to 5 foods for the 5 days, eating 5 times a day, starting within 1 hour…
