I prefer running alone. Gives me time to clear my head of everything else in the world. Definitely a great stress reliever for me!

Doing well so far... Mon - 80oz Tues - 96oz ... wait, it's ONLY Wednesday??? Sheesh. :noway:

Perfect answer! I wear Pearl Izumi synchroFloats, but only because that's what they put me in at the running store after lots of analysis and trying of about 8 different shoes.
-
I second the shoe recommendation - the right shoes are definitely important. Go to your local running store and have them analyse your foot, gait, etc. and put you in something that will work for you. :)

I vote "good". I'm doing my first 5K in a few weeks, and I've loved becoming a runner. You have to ease into it so that you don't end up hurting yourself, and watch what surfaces you're running on, if possible, but there's no reason you can't run without injury. My knees have been sore a couple times, but otherwise, I've…

Hi, ladies! My goal will be 80oz a day, which won't be a challenge until the weekend- I'm terrible about water on the weekends! So, at least 80 a day, total of 560 for the week. PLUS - since I slacked last week on the burn challenge, I will make myself hit those 3500 calories this week too!
-
Well, it's been a crazy week. My goal was 3500, and I only made it to 2500 :( Will make it up to myself next week!!!
-
Are you just running as much as you can or are you following C25K? I would definitely recommend the program... you can get the details at www.c25k.com. I went from never liking running to having completed a 37-minute run this morning. I'm not fast, but I'm doing it!! The program will move you up gradually to build your…

Thanks for all the organizing! My burn goal for week 1 will be 3,500. Might be difficult because I'll be out of town for business, but I will push myself!
-
I think you did it perfectly... ask in general and the people that don't mind you knowing will answer. The people who are paranoid and think you're a stocker that will track them down and move in next door and try to become their best friend, won't. ;) I'm Sarah!

So, for those of you that have finished it, I think I need your help!! I'm not sure what came over me this afternoon, but I decided I needed to register for another 5k sometime before the one I'd already entered, since it's not until October. So, I searched around online... and there was one coming up at a park that I'm…

Oh - and Augie also gets called Rusty because he purrs so loud that he sounds like he needs oiled. ;) And... Tess is also Monkey Girl or Ephalant (she walks very loudly for a cat)
-
I have two cats - Augustine and Contessa, which naturally, were intended to be referred to as "Augie" and "Tess", however more often than not, that doesn't end up being the case... Augustine - Augie, Augie Man, Augie Pants, Mister Pants, Mister Contessa - Tess, Tessie, Missy, Miss Mess, Tessie Messy, Silly Girl, and Stupid…

I've been thinking about the same thing... I'm only on week 6, but am trying to plan for the end. I know I won't be able to actually go 5km within the time at the end of the program, because I'm still slow. So, I'm currently trying to decide between two plans, unless someone has another suggestion that sounds better. ;) 1)…

Not to rock the boat too much, but I think I'd take your doctor's advice over people that have never seen your medical history, bloodwork, medications etc. and see how that works for you first and have the conversation with the doc if you're not feeling right about it. Just sayin'. Good luck with it - MFP friends are…

Just go to images.google.com and search "14 kg" (or "30.9 lbs") A fun thing to try as you progress... ;)

Hi there, and welcome! Feel free to add me as a friend - I post easy, healthy recipes on my blog every few days for inspiration in the kitchen.

I'm not sure that the cut has actually had any result for me... was just a way to cut out some of the fats that I didn't really crave anyway.

Personally, I think it's all about making yourself see every change as a victory in order to keep the momentum going and not let yourself slide backwards. AND making sure you're open to support when you're struggling. Looks like you're doing great so far! :)

I was just thinking about this yesterday! Just after I started someone posted to search your lost pounds on Google Images to see what comes up... was meaning to try it again, but forgot until I saw this... 54lbs: a 5 month-old Rottweiler; a 12' Kayak; an American Standard CADET3 Model toilet!!

The only dairy I've had since the end of February is the very occassional sprinkling of some part-skim shredded cheese (maybe 3 times in those 3 months). I was never big on milk or cheese anyway, so I don't miss it. Be careful if you're going to want to go back to it after a while though... Once after not having dairy for…

Be careful to really recognize those differences and appreciate all the work you've put into getting there. I did the same thing about 6 years back - hadn't realized how bad I'd gotten, lost 85lbs, and never saw myself any differently. The fact that I didn't make myself see that is one of the reason (one of a few) that it…

I do like it, actually. It's not what I expected so far on Level 1, but it's good. I'm not a good jumper, so it's forcing me to go out of my comfort zone with all the jumping jacks, jump-rope hops and butt kicks. The lunges, abs, and arm work are more in line with what I was expecting. I'm hoping the 30DS/C25K combo will…

Oh! And I also started 30 Day Shred this week. I've found that 30DS gets my blood pumping, so I just run out the door directly after.

If I can do it, anyone can! My entire life I HATED running and avoided it at all cost. For whatever reason I decided I wanted to give it a try about a year ago, and was doing it on my own - run as far as you can until you think you're going to die and then take a walk break and repeat for 45 minutes. That did NOT work, and…

So, I live in Canada but my family is in the States. Last time I was down there I tried on a swimsuit in the size I was at the time (In April, sz 16). I really liked it and wanted it for my vacation that's coming up in a few weeks, but had the confidence that I'd be losing lots of weight in the meantime ... so a couple…

As long as you're not running huge distances, you should be fine. I do my running just before dinner, and I do tend to have something small at least a half-hour before, to get the energy going after sitting in the office all day. Usually just an apple or something. If I ran in the mornings though, I wouldn't eat…

How's everyone doing with this week??? I've skipped the produce with my breakfast the last couple days, but will get back on that! I have, however, done 30DS every day this week, AND finished C25K week 5 last night. On to week 6... I'm excited!!!

Works for me!! So, how about we record weight as of Sunday (6/12), average speed acheived this past week (6/6-6/12), and distance run (6/6-6/12), then compare improvements each week by percentage? So, percentage of weight lost, percent improvement in speed, and percent added in distance?? Just a suggestion - feel free to…
