I've wondered about the starvation mode theory myself. When you read the information on the "cleanse" fasts that are out there they give some pretty convincing data that starvation mode is misunderstood. I remember reading a whole discussion on that with references (which I read) and which was pretty thorough. I had a…

I had a lady friend who was very attractive. She was greek and very exotic looking. She would always mention that people were staring at her, and they may have been. Once I noticed that she stared at someone that she found attractive until he felt her stare and looked back. Then she said, "he's staring at me." She got what…

Couldn't find it on cable here, but will look for it. Sounds like a show I would enjoy. Thanks for the idea.

I have hypothyroidism, as did my mother and grandmother. I take Levoxyl every morning. I now take 88 mg if I remember correctly. I was really putting on the weight. Now seem to be going the other way slowly. I know I was sleeping an awful lot last year before my doseage was increased. I had all my other hormones checked,…

There is probably a small group of people with nothing better to do than nickname people. If you go back for a reunion and that is what they remember about you is that you were always at the Gym, Good. You should keep doing what you are doing and ignore them. They will move on to label someone eilse, so why change your…

I've got very weak abs. Could barely do sit ups a few weeks ago. Have been getting stronger abs, but strangely enough my back has started hurting?! I will consider this information and research it more now. Thanks so much.

Just wanted to congratulate you on the preparation you needed to do for this. So happy for you. If you get used to running outside taper down the last day or two before the run. Please keep us advised about how it goes. Friend me if you like :)

Definitely an NSV. You're body and mind are changing. I know I crave beef less. Woo Hoo!

Years ago I had a click on my knee when running and on biking. I had a little swelling on the outside of both knees. It turned out to be IT band syndrome. Some icing and stretching helped. Lots of info on this one online.

This post is interesting to me too. I used to eat NOTHING in my youth before a run. I had trouble with needing the restroom too much during runs. There was always lots of food available after a run, so I could fill up then. I am just starting to work out again, and don't like the nausea I feel if I eat absolutely nothing,…

I've tried out almond milk on my oatmeal. Not bad. Maybe an alternative?

If you don't mind being friends with an old whippersnapper I would love to support you. I've lost 20 lbs so far and am shooting for another 20 - 30. I like to read diary's, so if you want to be a friend also consider opening your diary for public view. I learn a lot from others food choices and it keeps me honest. Add me…

How funny. I was just realizing I hadn't been to facebook at all since I joined MFP. I guess I am not the only one addicted.

The greatest performers always get nervous before they go out and kick butt. So, you are in good company with your pre-race jitters. Just don't change anything at the last minute. No Beans and Chile for breakfast on race day for e.g. LOL You will do fine. Be sure to come back and tell us.

Welcome. This has been a wonderful place for me to find. I've made lots of friends and have lost about 20 lbs so far. I hope you have much luck in your weight loss venture. If you don't mind being friends with an old man feel free to add me. LOL

Great pics. I could see them. What a difference. I don't see why this was removed? Congratulations.

I am not a bride to be either. I just celebrated my 22 year anniversary with my beautiful wife though. I wanted to tell you how inspiring your before and after pics are. Good work! Your wedding is like icing on your cake.

Just went to the Dr. and my hypothyroid was a problem again. Have been treated for it for about 10 years. I had to go up from my previous dose of 75 mcg of levothyroxin to 88. Have to have a follow up after a six week follow up. Hope it helps with the weight loss. I just feel tired a lot when my thyroid is low. You will be…

So impressed with your accomplishment. Way back in the day they used to serve beer at many runs. Not anymore. It was weird drinking after such exertion AND in the morning. Never had the chance to run in the mud. Quite an accomplishment for the first time. Congrats.

Does anyone know why the person who started this thread deactivated their account?

If I read your profile right, it took you about one year to get where you are? I am planning on taking about a year to get to where I want. I also just hit 200, so I have reached a benchmark of my own. Your story is so inspiring. I'm psyched about losing the rest of my weight. I began to wornder if I was reaching to high,…

Ha ha. You don't want to see me dance. Love the idea though. I will pass it on to my friends, some of whom like to dance for fun. National Dance Day? Can't find it on my calendar. :)

I have it and take Levthyroxine for it. I am having my blood levels checked this week, so I'll know if that is an issue. In spite of this I have lost 14 pounds on MFP, and am going for a lot more. If you would like to friend me feel free, I probably struggloe with the same issues you do.

Great story. I haven't had anyone notice yet, but I'm only at 14 lbs or so. I can't wait till 25 or more pounds lost. Then I think I'll have some similar experiences. Thanks for the uplifting NSV!

I will have to check back in a year or so. I have just started losing weight. In the past I always looked younger. My face in particular really shows it. However, I am almost 59 now, and I used to be in the sun a lot. I have all sorts of wrinkles around my eyes that remind me of my late maternal grandfather. I had the…

I am not in SOFL, so can't help you there. I just wanted to comment because it used to be so fun when I was running to get up so early and participate with this big crowd of people. Some of my best memories are the first five minutes of races and we are all starting to spread apart based on speed, strategy, conditioning,…
