I agree with you! I started logging every bite on Monday, have done pretty well. I like the support.
-
I am exactly the same. Great success when logging. Thought I was ready to just wing it. Five months into that, and up 20 lbs. So started back here Monday, logging every bite...
-
Absolutely! I am in the exact same boat. Lost 40+ a few years ago here, now I am up. So here I go again. Let's do this!

By using the app and logging every darn bit you take, this gives you a real representation of the amount of calories you have been eating. It is usually eye popping compared to what you thought you were probably eating. Then eat at a calorie deficit. You lose weight.. A little exercise doesn't hurt, it really helps your…

Ha! this is funny, I am sitting here at the computer looking out the widow at it raining wondering what I can do...
-
OP - really look at beanz744's response to you. If you have a 100 to lose, and are eating 1200, you would be losing weight. You really, really have to weight everything and log every darn bite. You can't walk through the kitchen in the evenings, open the fridge door and grab a bite of something without logging it and…

20 pounds is a great start, congrats!! I don't tell anyone I use it either, so I kind of rely on my news feed of my friends on here to keep it going. That way after a few weeks, you kind of get used to others who are maybe in the same boat as you, and you can discuss ways to keep up the good habits. Good Luck!

You'll find tons more information explaining why there is No "starvation mode" than you will supporting it. Exercise is for fitness and health - absolutely great. Eating less is for losing weight.
-
Hi, I am recently back after about two years, I'll send a request.
-
Great thing about this is you just pick it back up and continue eating correctly. Well, then I feel shame about over eating ! :-)
-
Sure, I have been here a few months lately and seeing some progress.
-
Drink more water, no cheat days. Simple, huh?
-
Over Easter, I erased a weeks worth of progress. But made it up the following 10 days. I felt like you, depressed and almost embarrassed. "Cheat Days" is a bad concept for me. If you feel like you have been depriving yourself of something, just leave calorie room for it and have it. You can fit alcohol in your calories…

I have learned that for me personally, I have to count and log EVERY BITE, because I was just like you, one handful a chips can't hurt can it? Yes, if you take a hand full of three different things that evening, they add up. All of my success comes from when counting and logging every single bite...
-
No, that is the deficit I use to lose weight.
-
A couple a night. Right now it is Amstel Light because it is 95 calories a bottle. Not my favorite beer, but for 95 calories, it will do.
-
Whenever I start getting board with my cadio routine, it just means it is time to mix it up and find some other exercise to do.
-
Don't over think it! Just keep going!! Or.... was she doing circuit training and you sat down in the middle of the circuit on her next machine.. that would do it.
-
The logging really helped me see how much I was eating after 7:00 pm at night just walking by the fridge. You don't think too much about a few bites of this and that, until you log it all and look at the calories. That was certainly my issue. I am getting a lot better, but still not totally over it.
-
Sitting at a desk all day sure has taken a toll on me. It is draining, and once you finally stand up and say your through for the day, you beat and don't feel like getting any exercise. I hear ya. I struggled and struggled until I finally thought, "the job isn't changing, and the hours aren't changing, I have to change.".…
-
If I take a few bites here and there, I'll go add 50 calories (or whatever is appropriate) just to make me feel better.
-
I will agree with @vismal. A calorie is a calorie. Log the calories and move on. Personally, Amstel Light is 95 calories a bottle, and I like it. So I log each one I drink as I would any calories, and move on. It is not cheating if you log it. (I realize some of you are past logging, and power to you, I am not there yet).…

Same boat here, I'll add you both.

Hi, I have about 30 left to go. Logging every bite has really helped me realize how much I actually eat, and helped me stay with in a calorie goal. I Highly recommend it at least for the first few weeks, and longer is better. Great luck to you!
-
Hi, I could have typed your message, I am almost exactly the same!! Did well two years ago, maintained pretty descent the first year, then over the last year, well.. I have about 30 lbs to go.. I have been at it about two weeks now, really trying to stick to my calorie goal and get some exercise. We can do this!!
-
For me it was all about the logging. That seemed to keep me slightly accountable to something. Second was the exercise. Don't think of out as dieting. When you diet, you cheat. It is only cheating if you do not log it.
-
Count me in! I need some motivating friends that are trying the same as I. I have about 35 to go.
-
Please count me in. I need to see others each morning doing the same thing I am trying, and see if I can keep up!
-
I am in the exact same boat. 3-4 years ago, I was right where I wanted to be. Now, being 35 lbs up, I found myself breathing heavily walking up a flight of stairs and decided I have to make a change. I am two weeks into it, and can see I need motivation to keep it up. Feel free to add me, maybe we can help each other.

This is a great thread, there are a bunch of sub 300 calorie suggestions here that I can use. Thanks guy!! Oh, and yeh, I like the snickers idea too!
