Two things. I am less than 20 lbs from my high school weight (I am 68 yo). Also, our 5oth anniversary is in June. I'd like to be at 169 by then!

Amandajs232...I like your thinking! Thank you!

Well, not a good on plan day, but could have been worse. Went to the movies with cousins I hadn't seen in a while and it was a thrill to hear how much weight I've lost. Took carrot sticks to munch on, and didn't cave to the smell of popcorn. We went to lunch at Logans...had sirloin steak, steamed broccoli, salad and 1/2 a…

Thanks everyone! Gonna get rid of them with a smile...cause I ain't going back there!

Good: Diabetes under control / More energy; able to walk 2-3 miles. Look so much better in my clothes! Not-so-good: sagging skin and wrinkles. Wish I had not waited until now (age 65) to get contol!

Just did 2.6-2.8 mph on my treadmill for 30 min. Hope you all don't laugh at that. I'm 65, with a bad knee and it's the best I can do! Lol I do arm exercises with weights every other day...been doing that about 2 weeks. Yesterday I added abdominal exercises. Had an omelete for brunch, a pear for a snack and having spinach…

Hi all! I am not new to MFP, but new to posting on forums. I am 65 yo. My highest weight was 232. 15 yrs. Ago I went on Atkins and lost 60 lbs. Gradually I gained back to 212. Last year I lost down to 180. I am doing low carb and my main motivation is keeping my diabetes under control....which I have! I was 174 this…

I'm retired now, a few short months, but this is what I got to the point of doing when something "kept calling" me. Say they bring in a box of donuts and none call my name except for a chocolate one. I pick it up, wrap it in a napkin, walk to the kitchen and shove it into the bottom of the trashcan. Wasteful. Yes, but not…

I find that when I cut way back and then consume a large meal, the same thing happens to me. And yes, I think it is our body talking to us. If only we would listen! lol

I might not be replying correctly, so sorry. The first reply was for Bystander. This one is for Amyllu. Wow, good for you for not giving up! I'll keep both of you in mind as I go through my days. At my highest I was 232, about a year after having a hysterectomy (I'm only 5'2"). Then I got very discouraged after losing 60#…

Thank you for your encouragement! Good luck to you. I like the way you get your walking in! We're in a semi-rural area, so nothing like that I can do here right now, but I've dusted off my treadmill and got started today!

Congrats! You look great! Low carbs is the only thing that works for me, too!

Good for you! It is very hard to be strong when everyone around you is enjoying food. When I worked in an office they always had "treats" and because I was the admin, they insisted they sit on a counter by me, where everyone could see them as they passed by. Well, one day I got up and moved them to the top of a filing…

Wow! You should be VERY proud of your success! You look great!

200 is my OMG! weight and I am over that now. I've struggled with my weight all my life. Was 169 when I graduated high school. After my hysterectomy, I found myself at 232. I've gotten down to 179. When I get down this time, I'm going to lower that OMG number!

Wow . . . what a difference! You are an inspiration!
-
WOW! You have done fantastic!! That's 10 lbs. a month . . . month after month! You are a true inspiration. Please . . .if you have any "secret", . . share them! Congratulations!!!!

Advise is easier given than taken . . . or easier said than done would be a better saying. I have so many times started out gung-ho, only to find myself exhausted and in so much pain that I then don't do anything . . . and of course it never becomes a habit. I am starting out slowly this time. Maybe at 61 years of age, I…

Kaitimae - LOL yes, I drive through Riverview every day! I am on West Jefferson by Lake Erie Metro Park, which I'm sure you are familiar with. Small world, hey?

Well, shut the front door! . . . I'd have NEVER figured that out! Very cool! Was wondering about the "bump" too, but didn't want to appear to uncool - so thanks dmpizza! (does that stand for dump pizza???) LOL This board is a hoot and so darned friendly! I'm going to do this!! Thanks all for clueing me in!!

Unfortunately diabetes is a disease and a malfunctioning of the body (pancreas I believe?), and it doesn't matter whether you are overweight or not - skinny people DO get diabetes. I have a cousin who is like a walking skeleton and she is severely diabetic. She is underweight, eats junk food and is in and out of the…

Absolutely show her my post! I also have a shoulder problem - LOL - I have an issue with more joints than not in my body. I would be most happy to befriend her and be her cheerleader. She is not too old and it is never too late for anyone. I'll look forward to hearing from you and hopefully from her. Congrats to you for…

I can tell you that there is aboslutely no way you can help someone who doesn't want help. My husband and I have been married 42 years. I am overweight, he is NOT. About 15 years ago he became diabetic. I tried to help him with diet and exercise, but he wouldn't let me so he moved on to pills for his diabetes. To make a…
