  • I weigh myself daily, but input into a spreadsheet and look more closely at the weekly average weight. Only add weight to MFP once a week.
  • I like the veggie sub (I alternate which bread I use) ... everything but the "hot stuff"! And, with cheese, but no mayo/mustard or oils.

  • I am no where near my goal but I get what you are saying. I enjoy exercising, but I don't like food - therefore, my priorities are always to working out. I have foods that are fast/easy so I will eat, them regularly and can't see not continuing to eat them. However, I still "fall off the wagon" to the "convenient" foods…
  • I feel the need to respond ... being the mother of 3 boys. While all 3 are Eagle Scouts, and have been raised as responsible members of the family and of society, my eldest was overly influenced by his high school girlfriend and my ex-husband. The day after he graduated high school, he moved out. We had a very strained…
  • There is also Power 90 Master Series .... more challenges than P90, but not quite as intense as P90X. Plus, Master Series has more diverse workouts (like P90X) so it's not quite as limited as P90.
  • Allow yourself to be human and move on! We all binge on something occasionally ... that's okay as long as you don't do it continuously. Then, you won't be so close to your goal! Just keep looking and moving forward, you can't change the past.
  • I have not read all the postings, but needed to chime in, anyway. The first thing I thought of when you described your daughter was ADD. I have 3 boys, and they are all ADD (not ADHD). They are distracted reasonably easily if it is not something they are interested, they forget to turn work in and are impulsively talking…
  • Why don't you invite her for walks 3-5 times a week? You don't have to tell her that it's "exercise" ... you can use that time to allow her to vent about how much the other people are wrong. Just a suggestion.
  • I can understand why people call it "sabotage" ... but, personally, I don't like the meaning. I mean, we are human, are we not? By being human, we are prone to falling down ... it just matters how long we stay down and our attitude toward the falling down & getting up. I think also referring it to "sabotage" helps to…
  • Aside from what the scale says ... how are you feeling? Do you feel stronger and less out of breath? Are your clothes feeling a bit looser? Have you taken any measurements lately (or at all)? If you have, have your measurements stayed the same or gotten lower (or higher)? Looking to the scale for validation is fine, but it…
  • Don't forget to take measurements and pictures! You might be gaining weight because you are replacing fat with muscle ... it'll weigh the same, but make you slimmer. Weight should not be the only guide you use for getting healthy!
  • Just take it One Day at a Time / One Meal at a Time ... and don't beat yourself up if you stumble on your journey.
  • It depends on "how" you walk, I think. I live about 1 mile from work, so, on good days I prefer to walk to and from work. But, when I do, I put music in my ears and walk at a "brisk" pace. I have my music set up so that I am (for the most part) walking with the beat, and it alternates fast-slow, etc. That is much different…
  • 6 inch veggie with everything but lettuce & "hot stuff" ... with cheese ... no mustard/mayo/etc and no oil/vinegar (I don't think it needs it). I prefer the 9-grain breads over the white.

  • You might feel that way because that is what you are concentrating on. Instead, think about all the times you have with your son. Plus, you are working out to get healthy so that you can be more active and have more fun with (and for) your son! Time to look at the glass as half full, not half empty!
  • I'll preface this by saying this might not be a popular position, but .... I have found over the years that I am a more effective parent BECAUSE I work! I think that by working and "doing my own thing" for a short amount of time per day/week (let's face it, 1 hour out of 24 for workouts is a "short amount of time") will…
  • My solution? Sunglasses (that magically shield not just my eyes from the sun, but my image from others around me) and my iPod (to keep myself focused on keeping pace with the music, not noticing others who pass me). Besides that? I keep reminding myself that I'm doing this for no one else but myself and keep on walking. I…

  • This sounds like a lot of anxiety to me. So, here's a idea .... actively search out your frienemy and run into them "by accident." That, in theory, should get your anxiety out of the way and you back on track to YOURSELF!!!! Realize, however, that there are 3 options when you bump into them .. 1-she's skinnier than you and…
  • I'm also a single mom of teenagers. While I don't work more than 1 job, my kids and my volunteer work keep us pretty busy! I try to wake up early to get my workouts in, if at all possible. When the weather is nice, I drag my kids out for a walk around the neighborhood after dinner. At their pace (I call it the "high school…
  • Another twin mom here! My boys are 16 now (with an older brother who is 22)! Unfortunately, I *still* have some twin weight to lose! :( But, I wouldn't trade them (my twins or all 3 of my boys) for anything! Congrats on the twins!
  • I dislike counting calories, too, and I've left and come back to MFP a couple of times because of it. What I've decided to do this time is count during the week (M-F), especially while I'm at work -- that will keep me more accountable even though I bring my own lunch. And, during the weekend, I don't worry about counting.…
  • I say, go to the school and let them handle it; this all happened on school grounds (even though it was the bus). Hopefully, they will be able to get *something* across to the boy and his family. If not, don't stop letting the school know when incidents happen. When my eldest was in 4th grade (quite a while ago), he was…
  • I weigh myself every morning (same time, same clothes) and measure myself once a week. I take into account the daily fluctuations in weight, and the measurements help me see changes even if my weight doesn't change.
  • I definitely agree with the others --- COMMUNICATE! EVERYONE deserves some time for themselves without feeling like everything will to go "hell in a handbasket" (sorry, old expression ... I got it from my mother). The only way you can feel good about things you do for yourself, is by having help getting the things for the…
  • Others may think differently, but I don't think that it's that big a deal. Make eating like that every once-in-a-while and, soon, you won't want to eat like that. It's happened to me. I can't even eat hamburgers any longer -- the grease just bothers me now. Just remember "Lifestyle Change" and cheating just doesn't fit…
  • If you go into WOWY on beachbody.com's website you should be able to auto-schedule the workouts onto the system. Didn't you get a calendar with INSANITY? That should help you, too.
  • My stress reliever is my iPod and a 30-60 minute walk! Usually a "power" walk! I get my stress out and workout, too! Plus, it gets me away from my stress (read: children). I used to have a stressful full-time job (have different job now, less stressful due to boss) and I used my lunchtimes to take a walk away from the…
  • I have continued to put myself through "this" and been in a plateau (for about 2 months) that is resulting in me gaining back weight. I've stopped recording my food right now, but continue to eat as I have "trained" myself ... and I continue to workout rather intensely despite my recent gains. Some things you might want to…

  • I'm the same way; as soon as I start eating, I can't stop. However, after a little experimentation, I found foods I *could* eat that would not make me want to continue. For example, I have oatmeal every morning for breakfast. Plain oatmeal with protein powder. When I ate cottage cheese with berries, I was very hungry an…
  • Personally, I need structure. I've done Power90, Power90 Master Series, Rockin' Body and am now doing INSANITY and ChaLEAN Extreme (combo/hybrid). I did the full 90 days of Power90, and finished Master Series, but ran into motivation issues (and time issues) when I was doing just INSANITY. I'm finishing up my 4th week of…
