  • This happens to me too. The less I eat and the more I exercise, the less I sleep. The good news for me is that I still seem to be able to get 6-7 hours of sleep a night. I've read that eating some complex carbs an hour or so before bed can help you sleep. You may want to try that.
  • I'm 5'4", 26 years old, and my goal weight is 130 lbs. The lowest weight I've ever hit as an adult was 136, and I remember being very happy with my waist up, but still carrying a fair amount of fat in my lower body. I figure if (when!) I hit 130, I'll go get a body fat test (pro tip: I found a gym that does Hydrostatic…
  • I moved from Portland to Anchorage last year. My recommendation would be to join one of the community centers, but only if you don't work a traditional 9-5. I LOVED the SW Community Center and their range of programs, but they have very few offerings after 6PM.
  • This is totally anecdotal, but I lost three pounds the week I gave up diet soda (I'm not a fan of regular soda... too syrupy for my tastes). I'm sure it was mostly from "bloat" like a previous poster mentioned. That said, my decision to give it up wasn't based on calories or weight loss, really, but more from a desire to…
  • I think I owe most of my success this time around to this app. I usually enter what I plan to eat into my diary the day before and it helps me adjust for things like snacking and balancing meals if I'm going to have a big lunch or whatever. Who knows how accurate the exercise numbers are and what not, but I'm not on a…
  • I make a smoothie that has about a cup of baby spinach, a banana, a cup of frozen mixed berries, and half a cup of greek yogurt. It's pretty tasty and keeps me full.
  • Also, you could focus on cardio like walking/jogging/running. Have you looked at a marathoner recently? Super fit, but very lean.
  • Everyone has made really good points about the binge eating. I don't think I've ever looked at it that way, but you're probably right. I look at what/when I eat and it's usually when I'm bored or I feel like I've "deserved" it somehow (long day at work, etc). Don't be too hard on my husband. I started getting healthy…
  • This sounds like a great substitute! I may have to experiment with making something similar with what I have laying around.
  • I've tried these before and LOVED it (though admittedly I'd been drinking). It was a nice way to get that sweet taste without actually eating. I may just hit my dad up for one...
  • Wow, everyone! There is a lot of REALLY good advice here. I really do want to make this change, but it's tough to figure out the best way to go about it. I think I'm going to start with taking the advice of having small, single serving packages of something that will really hit the spot (like M&Ms) and see if I can stop…
  • I've been just a little bit overweight (20 lbs or so) since middle school, but didn't rocket up into obese territory until the last year or two when I was working a job that kept me tied to my desk 60+ hours/week. Now I'm at a new job working 40 hours/week, which gives me time to cook and work out. Life is too short to sit…
  • I'm on Day 4 of Level 2, but I've been doing it slowly, interspersed with a day or two of cardio (mostly walking) in between. I'm down about 8 lbs in 6 weeks, which isn't terrible results. I agree with everyone about Level 2; it's just mean! That said, each time I do it, I'm able to follow along with more repetitions. My…
  • This is going to be laughable coming from me (very much in the process of learning to eat healthy), but I wonder if you could cut down on things like mayo and cheese. This has been hard for me, but it's led me to find new ways to flavor things like sandwiches and really cut down on the calories. You're also eating a lot of…
  • I am only 26, so it freaks me out that my "why" is medical. I went in for a routine eye exam and discovered that my optic nerves were swollen. I had no other symptoms, no headaches or loss of vision, but he optometrist wanted me to see a neurologist immediately. I was switching jobs and put it off. When I finally made it…
  • Feel free to add me! I have 52 lbs to lose and could use some friends and motivation.
  • I feel like we're in exactly the same boat! I also need to lose 50 lbs. I went through exactly what you're going through: doing everything right, but not losing weight. I've been working on this for exactly 5 weeks now and did not see any weight loss until 3 weeks in. Then, suddenly, last week I lost over 2 pounds. I think…
