Another strategy is to hit your original cal calculations by eating <1200 calories and then filling the deficit with ONLY raw plant based foods (ie. grab an apple, carrot, etc.). This will curb your hunger and fill voids in nutrition. Raw foodies consume 2000cals in a single sitting without weight gain. Not all calories…

There's no reason in the world a vegan should be protein deficient. I can think of 5 plants off the top of my head that have the same protein as a serving of tuna. Excluding soy. Screw soy. B12 on the other hand... maybe. Now that's a legitimate vegan deficiency.

Dehydration changes everything. It makes you feel like crud, especially after a workout. If you're calorie restricting you're also decreasing your water intake. Since you're exercising you're losing more water than normal. Those two factors mean you'll need to increase your water intake substantially. Use the water portion…

myfitnesspal + fitbit is a useful combination. IMO genetics plays a huge role in how your body processes food & what it craves. I grew up in the tropics and my family comes from that climate. A diet like 80/10/10 (only much less strict... with avacados, nuts, etc.) seems to work best for me when I'm not calorie counting.…

Every one has their journeys. Baby steps... don't put too much pressure on yourself Swap coke for juice. Then juice for juicing. Swap coke for sweet tea. Then sweet tea for unsweet tea. Swap coke for diet coke. Diet coke for water. It's good to acknowledge, without judgment, that drinking lots of soda daily is not healthy.…

Yours are good. My favorites are the ones that pop up out of the blue like chickpeas, quinoa (a grain), green peas, avocado (go figure). Bonus! Also like a protein water called Cocotein, 20g of protein and 100cals. Kind of pricy though. Salmon. Eggs, ditto, yum. *EDIT* misspelled cocotein

Yes, you are probably legitimately hungry. You're already working out. That's usually my suggestion. A workout is a great binge stopper. More suggestions: Try swapping it. I know this sounds crazy but up your cals to 1500 on off days (especially morning after a big workout day) and back down to 1280-1300 on workout days.…

I was ADDICTED to mio and have been a frequent artificial sweetener user in the past. Especially when I first started watching calories. My experience: 1. Unexplained weight retention: I noticed when I avoided the artificial sweeteners it was easier to make the scale tip in the direction I wanted it to. I can't explain…

Thanks for all the helpful advice and suggestions. Paleo sounds like a good alternative. I'll do more research and try it out. Although, if two weeks is the tipping point maybe I just didn't hang in there long enough. After a week I figured surely I'd be over the carb flu by then. Props to everyone on their weight loss and…

Haha! True! Just noticed myself.

It's probably the sugar you're withdrawing from. Low carb = very low sugar. Sugar and caffeine have similar withdraw symptoms. Avoid artificial sweeteners Eat a piece of fruit in the morning and then again whenever you'd normally get a sweet snack. Fruits are good carbs.

Sometimes we put so much pressure on ourselves to be perfect and it muddies our thinking to the point where we can't succeed in our goals. Ultimately putting on pounds is not something to be ashamed of. While it's nice thought to stay the same exact weight every single day for the rest of our lives, it's unrealistic. When…

It's good to have a balance. I switch gears every once in a blue moon when the calorie counting drives my husband up the wall or I get burnt out and decide to eat whole/vegetarian foods rather than calorie restricting. Typically when I'm eating whole foods I lose weight in the beginning, maintain a weight for a few months…

Agree with the self-compassion 100%. 800cals is ambitious. Less than 1000cal intake means a huge (almost inevitable) binge is coming, followed by periods of self-loathing and super strict calorie restriction, possibly followed by another binge. That's binge eating disorder territory and if at all possible try to stay out…

"Amanda please help me lose weight." Ugh so been there lol. Well the good news is that you can help a little. But as the saying goes, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. The good news is that he sounds like he wants to change he just doesn't have the habits formed yet. That takes time to develop.…

Suggestion... don't go from all carbs to no carbs. The body is remarkably strong but fragile at the same time. Try switching from refined white flour to whole grains. If you're wanting to stay away from grains altogether go for carbs that have nutritional density like sweet potatoes and bananas. Carbs are a vessel for…

Likewise, congrats on your journey. I couldn't do it on my own, personally. I can't tell you how many times I've passed up a drive thru just because of an article my friend sent me or a weigh in we have coming up. It's good to find someone with similar weight loss goals and height/weight and if you can, someone in a…

My good friend and I have been maintaining (and sometimes losing) weight together for years. Here's my best advice: 1. Eat the rainbow - a fun way to make good choices 2. Mind portions- You really don't know what to look for if you don't have all of the information available. This is where fitnesspal helps. 3. Be prepared.…

We have a rule at our gym that you have to keep moving in order to have dibbs on a treadmill. There's a group of 3 guys who start their workout on the treadmill. In order to reserve the treadmills for his buddies one guy basically ran them all at once and moved quick from one to the next. It looked strange. But what a team…

http://www.dailyhiit.com/ I enjoy compact workouts. In. Out. Done. Working a large array of muscle groups. Something new everyday. So this works for me. When I was truly spoiled and had a personal trainer, this is what we used to do. The only difference is that we'd have a 3-D person there correcting us. I recomend a…

The road to success is always under construction. I'm sure you turn heads today. Some ladies would KILL to be in 12s. Get yourself some good quality calories and rest. You'll be right back on the ball tomorrow. Chin up. Keep up the good work.
