  • Great article. I love eggs and if I'm not too lazy to cook in the morning I have 2 every day.

  • And the great Carb debate rages on... Bump...
  • Are you arguing with yourself here? Edit: Now I see you have a copycat of some sort.
  • Here is a pretty good description of the different types of fats. http://www.marksdailyapple.com/fats/

  • I'm wondering how your ancestors lived long enough to pass on the gene that makes water repulsive. If you were to stop drinking sweet drinks all the time I bet it wouldn't make you gag anymore. I used to drink at least 6 cokes a day and hated water, now i love it. Of course not all water is the same, perhaps you are…
  • Eat all the sugar you want, as long as you stay below your calorie goal, unless you want to lose weight AND be healthy that is.

  • I know right? You could use that argument for any diet ever. If eating "normal" or like a "regular person" means eating lot's of sugar and bread, pasta, muffins,Soda, double cheeseburgers, french fries, than yes, you will gain the weight back. That's how most of us got fat in the first place.
  • I am actually having the opposite problem. I go maybe once every 3 or 4 days. I am not in any discomfort but I am still concerned. If I drink some "smooth move" tea is seems to get things moving but I don't think it is good for you to use that too often.
  • The fact that muscle is more dense is the very reason why it DOES weigh more than fat. There are only 3 factors that go into determining weight. Volume, Density, and Gravity. Gravity is basically a constant here on Earth so it comes down to Volume and Density. When comparing 2 substances it is useful to keep as many…
  • I eat 2 whole eggs, full fat bacon  , and a banana most days for breakfast. I actually am avoiding anything that says "low fat" and looking for things that are low in sugar. For lunch it's usually a salad with some grilled chicken or steak.
  • As illogical as it seems to you and I there are many people on this site that think this way. It drives me CRAZY! When someone starts in with the pound is a pound nonsense just quote this. "mass = density x volume Further... weight = mass x gravity Since gravity on Earth is a relative constant we can say that the density…
  • I know this is off topic but saying "Muscle actually weighs the same as fat it's just more compact :)" is completely ridiculous. Read it out loud to yourself and tell me if you think it makes sense. If you still stand by that statement I will present you with some scientific proof to the contrary.
  • Although I am not familiar with the thread in question in my opinion there are several people on this site who are only here to start arguments and attack people. They don't post a pic of themselves, or even bother to fill out their profiles. They don;t appear to have any weight loss goals either. Anyone else notice this?…
  • Personally I am willing to give up some things in order to reach my goals. Once I am at a healthy weight I will eat the occasional piece of cake or candy. I didnt get this fat just eating candy or cake once in a while, I ate them a lot. The thing is it took me many years to put on the weight but I would prefer to take it…
  • I have been reading his articles and I would admit that what he says is often confusing and he will not hesitate to attack anyone who doesn't understand him. I do find it interesting that one of his books promotes Ketosis, which is of course caused by ingesting low carbs. Personally i need to read more of his articles…
  • I noticed that you often quote the site http://www.bodyrecomposition.com by Lyle McDonald to prove you're statements. Here is what Lyle has to say regarding low carb dieting... "And the commonality in all of those conditions is not the presence or absence of dietary fat (diets 1 and 3 have little or no dietary fat, diet 2…
  • I actually find it to be the opposite. I have yet to see a Paleo/Adkins thread without a few people fighting tooth and nail to debunk it.
  • Ok, I read the articles posted from http://www.bodyrecomposition.com and he seems to agree that there is such a thing as starvation mode though he calls it something different. I actually like the site and read a few other articles there as well. I was particularly interested in his thoughts on carbs and how reducing them…
  • It's really hard to argue with results like that, well done!
  • I will read them on the bus ride home, thanks. From work that is, contrary to what some think I am not 13 years old
  • To be honest I don't know. If you spend enough time on here you will hear people telling someone that the reason they aren't losing weight is because they aren't eating enough. They will use the term Starvation mode to describe this effect. There are other people who will not lose a pound for months and then, without…
  • Since I am limiting carbs and don't eat any junk food at all I find it hard to meet my goals on a daily basis. I eat 2 eggs and 3 slices of bacon plus a banana at 6am and don't feel at all hungry until about noon. I then eat a huge salad for lunch and feel very satisfied until about 7pm. Up to this point in the day i am…
  • The starvation mode I am referring to is the concept that if you don't eat enough calories you will stop losing and possibly even gain weight.
  • I'm also wondering how the act of simply upping your calories can help you lose more weight. I understand that your metabolism will slow down after a continued deficit but will it just fire right back up after a week or 2 of increased calories?
  • It's mostly out of general curiosity, I have been struggling lately to meet my calorie goal and I'm wondering if I am unintentionally slowing my weight loss.
  • So it's basically just human error.
  • Awesome! I don't think the term used on here is referencing actual starvation.
  • This make perfect sense to me, as you lose more weight, you must change your intake to match your new maintenance level. The problem is, starvation mode, as I understand it says that if you maintain too much of a deficit for a period of time you will stop losing and possibly even gain weight. I am not saying this is true,…
  • We have presented our sides and I say we let people decide for themselves who is right in this case.
  • I have create a discussion in the General forums to discuss this issue called "Starvation mode and Plateaus, what is the real story?" I welcome Untz to come defend his position and Mapex, i would love to hear your opinion.
