  • I was recently recommended RunKeeper. Downloaded it and love it. It does beautifully what I need.
  • I would say that some muscle loss is unavoidable when your main objective is weight loss. There are ways to try minimize this process. I don’t think it is possible to lose fat only. In my opinion eating exercise calories back doesn’t make any sense for those of us who try to lose weight. This practice works best for those…
  • Blueberries or blackberries Slice of dry, 100% whole-grain toasted bread with 2 slices of 99% fat free turkey breast Tomato Hot tea (no sugar)
  • Definitely digital.
  • You do not have to be hungry in order to lose weight. All weight loss methods that require tolerating any level of hunger are not going to work. It is hard not to eat when you are hungry. It is equally hard to force yourself to eat less. But it's possible to choose what you eat. By following the feeling satisfied with…
  • I don’t eat exercise calories back. It doesn’t make any sense to me.
  • I don’t have planned cheat days. I have moments that when I break my will and “try” an apple strudel or a croissant, then I can’t stop and end up eating many of them. Costco bakery apple strudels (several !!!) – happened 5-6 times since May 20, 2010 Costco bakery croissant (several !!!) – happened 3-4 times since May 20,…
  • Downloaded and used the RunKeeper application already. It’s fantastic. Thanks a lot.
  • Go for it! I considered a gym or jogging in addition to the implemented drastic diet change. I chose jogging and tried to jog around the block. I jogged very slowly and for short period of time at the beginning. When I started I was completely out of shape. It was hard and I felt the weight every step I took. But every…
  • Thanks for recommendation. Yes it is the one. Went to their website and found it out. Please disregard the question I posted a few minutes ago.
  • Was is made by FitnessKeeper, Inc.?
  • Nothing motivated me strongly enough until the moment, when the doctor informed me that there might me something in my heart and mentioned possible methods of treatment. The fear of surgery was the strongest motivator, and so far it is the most effective motivator for me. Since he added that losing weight might make the…
  • I don’t eat exercise calories back. Consuming exercise calories on purpose doesn’t make any sense to me. I don't create calorie deficit to waste it be eating additional calories.
  • Mickmelie: Did you experience any of the possible dangerous consequences that you described in your post during the three months period you mentioned?
  • Would you mention the topic if the other person never brings it up?
  • I don’t eat exercise calories back. It doesn’t make any sense to me.
  • Try to weight yourself in the morning. Wake up, use the bathroom, take off your clothes, and step on the digital scale. I weigh myself every day.

  • Hi Banks/Kapeluza: I do not advocate “going to the extreme (…) with fuel consumption.” Therefore “The most prominent immediate issues (in no particular order) with caloric levels below normal are reduced muscle function, reduction of muscle size and density, liver and kidney failures, increase in LDL (bad) cholesterol…
  • I don’t use an HRM. I jog for approximately 15 minutes. Total distance is about 1 mile.
  • Thank you 12by311 for your suggestion to read archived posts. Successes of people who you described as “those that have been most successful and have been around the longest (not yo-yoing with their weight, steadily maintaining after losing it” inspire me. They are living proof that losing weight and keeping it off is…
  • Thank you Chevy88grl. You are absolutely right that it is all about figuring out what works for us, and that everyone's body and metabolism are different. I would add that no single approach, formula, or plan for weight loss can work perfectly for every person. I am not advocating starvation. The only two participants of…
  • Thank you Tigersword. I don’t know what this website algorithm is to calculate food based calorie deficit for everybody who requests calculation. Let’s assume that it is 500 calories. If you add exercise and manage to burn let’s say 200 calories more then it’s wonderful. “Eating it back” would be a waste of effort and…
  • Some (most?) people struggle so much to lose weight. They suffer from stress and hunger to create calorie deficit, and when they managed to achieve a little-bit bigger calorie deficit they are told “eat your calories back”. Why? Because the deficit is supposedly too big. This doesn’t make any sense to me. I can't…
  • I just noticed that I missed one letter in my post. The subject should have been “eat YOUR calories back” not “eat you calories back”. Sorry.
  • Thank you Tramainepaul and Chevy88grl for great posts. I can’t understand why Chevy88grl would see a slow weight gain if she dropped below 2200-2500 NET calories a day level. I thought that one could not gain weight by taking in fewer calories a day.
  • Do you recommend eating more if I don’t feel any hunger?
  • I weigh myself every day. Try to weight yourself in the morning. Wake up, use the bathroom, take off your clothes, and step on the digital scale
  • Hi Taso42: I pointed out that one does not have to exercise to lose weight. There are lots of health benefits of exercise, but exercise has minor effect on weight loss. Fully agree with you that people with heart condition will benefit tremendously from exercise. Also agree with you on the muscle loss issue. Mark
  • Britterbrittney: Eat an apple. I know that apples contain sugar, but the fiber in apples allows the sugar to be released at a steady rate. The fiber in apples also helps us feels satisfied. I try to eat several each days.
