I just ate 4 chocolate bars for a grand total of 600 kcal (stressed out because of an exam)... :s Sometimes it happens... I just logged it and now I am going to exercise - but not enough to "erase" the 600 kcal lol.

Oh a post about cats! I love cats. Specially mine :) Your cat is so cute! I love fluffy cats!

And don't think it is true either. This documentary (the one the OP is talking about) also says that a "calorie is not a calorie" and that calorie out versus calories in is bogus. They do not support any of this with real evidence and seem to think that we should believe them just because it is a documentary.

Yeah next time I'll find a witty image created by somebody else. It seems to be all the the rage these days.
-
Since you started this by stating the obvious I will end this by stating the obvious: I was not thanking you. :)
-
Happy you spelled it out for me. It's not like I had read the title or anything. By the way, this post was not an answer to your post but something I added as an afterthought to my previous post.

Oh and the documentary does say that when drinking soda, since it has no fiber, the sugar is absorbed immediately and your blood sugar rises. The liver gets a big sugar rush and it has no choice but to turn it into fat immediately.

I am watching this documentary. It says calorie counting is bogus, that "a calorie is not a calorie" and that "we are not going to exercise our way out of obesity". I am watching a bit further, see what their solution is. As for diet coke, I used to drink 2 L a day and stopped. My doctor said that stopping it would not…

I don't know (depends on your stats). Did you try to compare MFP with a TDEE calculator? http://iifym.com/tdee-calculator/

I worked at a fast-food chain and I can tell you there is no way the nutritional info is accurate. Depending on who is preparing the burger, the amount of sauce and stuff is completely different. Even the same person will do things differently because we cannot be consistent (we have to go fast!!). Even for meat... we are…

It is really good news that running uphill is good for speed because I am either running uphill or downhill. There are no flat streets in my town :). Why does running uphill increase my speed? Sprinting then jogging is out of the question for now lol... after a sprint I would have to walk! I think I will first focus on…

Thank you for all your answers. As a follow up: I planned to do week 4, and go from there. I don't know what happened but the app was set to week 2. I noticed that after the warmup and it really annoyed me and couldn't bother to go to week 4 and start the work out again so I just ran for 20 minutes. So this week I am…

120 is still within the BMI healthy range for someone that is 5 foot 7. I think 5 pounds in two months is a good goal since it averages half a pound per week and since you are already thin. Good luck!
-
Congratulations on running your first 5k! I hope to do it in a few weeks!
-
Thank you for your advice. I will start with week 4 and see how it goes. As for distance, I cannot measure it, but I have a watch so I can measure time. If I wanted to "slowly add time" to my running, would 10% a week be a good goal?

She could still shoot you, poison you, light the house on fire with you inside, push you out of a window, since she likes pelts she could skin you with that knife... (ok I'll stop there). But still, women shouldn't drive when there's a man in the car? What world do you live in? Women are not defenseless little creatures!

Again, how long have you been doing this?
-
So you eat less than 1000 net calories and exercise 400-600 a day? That seems tough! How long have you been able to maintain that regimen? I think you should be careful and see if you are getting enough fat/protein/vitamins etc so you can stay healthy. Also be aware that being so restrictive can make you binge eat and is…

I get what you are saying! I have been really motivated these past two weeks, still am, but I am so afraid it will go away!

I don't know your BMI so I don't know if it is sensible for you to lose weight. If it is, go ahead, you losing weight has nothing to do with your family. As for tracking, you cannot make other people track their food just because it's convenient for you!!
-
If the gym scares you just forget about it for now. Once you feel like you've done a few things right you will feel more confident :)

I started by adjusting my calories without worrying about macros/healthiness and I didn't exercise. When I got that right I started worrying about macros and eating healthy. Now I've started c25k (running) and soon strength training. So start with your diet (fastest results) and only that. Also living alone is an advantage…

You look great! Amazing what you accomplished in just one year! Your hair looks good.

I am sure your sisters are aware of their weight. I find the "lead by example" patronizing and it would really irk me. People usually know what they should do, they just don't want/aren't able to do it. They see you have lost weight, if they are interested in losing weight they are probably going to ask. I am sorry for the…

Let your sisters be. They are adults, their weight is their problem. They are not going to lose weight until they want to lose weight, there is nothing you can do. My mum tried a tough love approach - didn't work and actually made things worse. My best friend tried a not-so-subtle, "let's exercise together", "here are some…

There's a middle way between 1800 and 1200! You are short so 1800 kcal sounds like a lot. (I am 5'5 and my maintenance calories are 1760!). So you could eat 1500 for example and eat foods that are filling (and not calorie-dense).

Starting week 2 day 1 tomorrow :)
-
For me, you don't look thin or fat. You look muscular.

Buying in bulk is something I will definitely do once I have a bigger freezer. For now the freezer is tiny and I have to share it with my roommates. It's a shame :(.
