  • Can you join a gym? I'm a solitary person by nature as well but I really liked going to the gym. I would put on my ipod and zone people out! The elliptical might be a good workout for you.
  • I just wanted to add that we have a Breville (this one: http://www.amazon.com/Breville-BJE200XL-700-Watt-Compact-Fountain/dp/B000MDHH06/ref=tag_dpp_lp_edpp_ttl_ex) and it works great for us. I want to one day get a Vitamix, that way the pulp gets utilized as well.
  • Thank you JAM, I will try raising my caloric intake. I'm excited to be able to eat more, though scared it will just pack on more pounds. I guess the only way to find out is to try! I've heard good things about Leslie Sansone's workouts, I will definitely have to pick one up. Thanks again.
  • I don't have an appointment with my doctor scheduled or I'd ask him his opinion. I wish a nutritionist would see this and answer for us :)
  • I've never checked my BMR. This might be a silly question but how can I check it? I had spinal fusion surgery, I had a titanium rod & 2 screws inserted in my lower back so it will be a very long recovery. I have been thinking about raising my caloric intake for the day but I'm terrified to gain even more. EDITED: I just…
  • My husband juices for breakfast & lunch and then eats a cooked dinner. He enjoys it a lot. If you make sure you get enough vegetables and don't only juice fruit it can be very healthy!
  • I don't know if I should weight in this week, I think it will make me really depressed. I gained 2.5 lbs yesterday somehow. I thought it was my TOM but I haven't gotten it yet, ugh.
  • I've had that happen as well. I always have to pay close attention to the register screen to make sure they aren't overcharging me because they enter it in as something entirely different than it is. I only buy organic produce and last time I was shopping the cashier kept saying out loud "Ooooh another organic one, eh?…
  • Wow that really makes me mad! This country is getting out of control with the Monsanto bill and now this... ugh.
  • I'm having a hard time with motivation lately. I somehow gained 2.5 lbs, though I only went over on my calories one day (I think). I'm wondering if 1200 calories is not the right amount for me, I just don't get it. I'm frustrated because I can't work out very hard due to my surgery. I'm just frustrated all around. It's…
  • Thanks for the suggestion, I will look up Walk Away the Pounds. If anyone else has any suggestions for any other workouts that may be okay for me, I'm all ears! I'm getting VERY frustrated with not being able to burn many calories off, and I'm sick to death of walking on my treadmill :( I'm starting to lose motivation.
  • Thank you for the advice, I didn't want to waste money on the video if I can't do the exercises.
  • I'd love to know the cheese recipe as well!
  • I love that book. I actually appreciated the no bullsh*t tone a lot.
  • Thank you for writing this thread, it's very interesting! I've never heard of this diet or even seen the book, do you think a vegetarian would have success with it, or are there a lot of meals that include meat? Btw, congrats on sticking with it & losing the weight you have. You're doing superb!
  • Personally i would work out a little bit before I went and then not worry about going a bit over. Don't kill yourself working out though, and have fun!
  • This link has some good ideas, even in the comments section. http://unclutterer.com/2008/02/20/creating-a-weekly-meal-plan/ If you google "weekly meal plan" lots of things come up, but some of them cost money.
  • I had two herniated discs, one humongous one at my L4/L5, and another smaller one at my L5/S1. I have no idea what caused it, I've been having back issues for about 11 years now. Now that I'm on my husband's good insurance I decided to bite the bullet and have surgery. I have 2 screws & a titanium rod where my L4/L5 used…
  • Today is day 2 of sticking to my aerobic workouts. Yesterday was 30 minutes of brisk walking on the treadmill, I burned 200 calories. Today I walked 35 minutes on it and burned 230 calories. I'm getting really frustrated because of my back. I can't work out much, even after just 30 minutes on the treadmill yesterday my…
  • I weighed in at 124.5 today. For measurements, how do you guys measure your waist? Is it at your belly button, or at the smallest part (like an inch or two above the belly button)? I'm confused. I decided to measure the smallest part, like where it indents when you bend to each side. Neck: 12.5" Bust: 34.5" Waist: 30"…
  • I had spinal surgery in November and I am not allowed to bend, twist, or lift anything over 20 lbs. I've been seeing a physical therapist and it's been helping me SO MUCH. If you haven't seen a doctor for your back already I'd go see one, just to make sure you don't have a herniated disc (that's what I had). They will…
  • What type of back surgery did you have? I just had a TLIF fusion on my L4/5 in November. This website has helped me lost 5 post-surgical pounds! Welcome!
  • Oh also, just as a fyi, their clothes tend to be rather chintzy/cheap feeling.
  • I've ordered quite a few things from Modcloth and more often than not I have to return it all, even after measuring my clothes like the instructions say to. I've given up on that site. Even the shoes I got did not fit right. Too bad, they have cute stuff.
  • I'm not trying to attack anyone at all. If someone feels comfortable in a bikini, then they should wear it. I know we are all entitled to own opinions, I just think that it's a shame we can't embrace self confidence in a person, "perfect" body or not. Edited... I'm not sure how to quote, I'm new to this site.
  • This thread is making me so angry right now, though I know I shouldn't let it. That photo is sickening because of the skin cancer but why are we all making fun of it? She is a human being, let's stop pointing and laughing at her.
  • To the OP and to the person who made the remark about tattoos... I have some REALLY simple advice for you. If you don't think bikinis are okay on people over 35 years old, then DON'T WEAR THEM. If you don't think tattoos are a good choice for young women... THEN DON'T GET THEM. Leave the rest of us the hell alone.
  • Also, to the OP, anytime you say "I don't mean to offend anyone BUT...." it's pretty clear that you know you will offend someone and you don't care. Which is fine, but don't bother with the preface.
  • I'm 27 and never in my life have I had a body I felt confident enough about to wear in a bikini... so if I have one at 35+ then I'll be damned if some little 20-something year old is going to tell me what is/isn't appropriate. Also, if you don't like what someone is wearing... don't look at them! That's easy enough, isn't…
  • I'm just a regular vegetarian. I stopped eating meat a couple of months ago now I think, so I'm a newbie. I try not to eat much dairy (lactose intolerance) but I'm a sucker for cheese. I am in love with almond milk as a replacement for cow's milk, and I found Earth Balance to be superior to dairy butter, I looooOOooOOve…
