  • I've had chronic knee problems since high school and have had the same problem. Some of the things I do is ride the stationary bike (or road bike when the weather is nice), swim (awesome cardio but also strength work), and walk. Walking doesn't seem like it would be good cardio, but I usually use the treadmill and increase…
  • Mrs. Dash spices are wonderful!! I have been using them forever (my father has heart problems and can't have much added sodium). I don't miss the salt at all!! :o)
  • Sara - I spent a little time looking at your food diary and here is what I think after doing so. I think the 100 calories, avg, that you are eating in things like candies isn't going to keep you from losing more that the 1lbish a month that you are averaging. The most unhealthy things that I see you eating are a bag of…
  • Kristin - First Congratulations! :O) I recently found out that I am pregnant as well. I am 9 weeks along :O) This is my second pregnancy (I have a 2 1/2 yr old son) and am going to the same midwives clinic that I did for my son. They have a nutritionist on staff that I talked to :o) What I was told is that logging your…
  • The first thing I would suggest is setting achievable mini goals. You did set a goal to give up meat, that is a great goal but it is really more of a long term goal than a mini/short term goal. I would suggest setting mini goals like working out 30 minutes/day, 3 days a week. Once you've done it 3 weeks in a row, move it…
  • I think that all of these are great options. I would also suggest being honest with them. If you were to tell them that you are trying to lose weight and that it is very difficult to tell them no when they are offering you food, maybe they will be more mindful of your efforts. Along with that I would also suggest psyching…
  • I am going to reiterate what some of the others on here have said. Have you spoken with them about what you would like to have in the house for you? Also, going shopping with your mom might help... you could suggest things that you would like to eat. Also, if you work you could always buy some things for yourself that you…
  • I don't really worry about the sugar in fruits and stuff. If it is a raw food (veggies, fruit, etc.) then I don't count it. I actually subtract those quantities out (in my head) when I am checking my sugar intake. :o) I really only count refined sugars or sugar that is not naturally occurring in the food. :O)
  • I think that this depends on your personal health/ability. I am currently at 222. I didn't think that I would be able to run/jog but tried out one day of the C25K program (www.c25k.com) and, although it wasn't easy, I was able to do it. I should also mention that my knees are pretty screwed up. I plan on starting the…
  • Hit the grocery store instead!!! :O) Find something comparable to what you would get a Friendly's!! :o)
  • While it would take more work... you might want to dig the size of box that you want somewhere in the yard. You could also buy a sheet or two of plywood and some 2x4's to use as sides. You could attach the 2x4's with liquid nails to make the size of box that you want. :o) As for buying the sand, I think my husband got our…
  • Shalma - I LOVE this cookbook!!! I bought it recently and have yet to make anything out of it that wasn't wonderful!! :o)
  • I've heard this several times. I don't believe it matters how you consume the honey... just that you consume it. So putting it in tea should be fine. :o)
  • Some have said that "just standing around" shouldn't count as activity.... I would like to ask these folks if they have ever stood, in basically one spot, for 5 hours or more? I would DEFINITELY count this as activity. It takes a lot of different muscles to stand (calf, thigh, back, glutes, abs, etc.). They are all engaged…
  • I would recommend taking something that you know is low cal and can have... then I would get in an extra workout today and tomorrow afternoon/evening to burn off some of the extra calories that you ate. :o) I find that if I try to avoid the cakes and yummy foods that are around at things like a BBQ I end up being miserable…
  • You got it! :o) I love reading the feeds about how my friends are doing, as well as offering encouragement. I sent you an invite.... :o)
  • I was really worried about this too at my wedding. My husband (fiance at the time) had been living together for about 2 years. On top of that it was his second marriage. We had EVERYTHING that we needed for a home. What we ended up doing was putting a small "registry" card in with out invitations that said something like…
  • Leslie - This link will take you directly to the C25K program breakdown. You can look around on the rest of the site too to get more information and stuff :o) I hope you have fun with it. I love it so far!!! But then I just started hehe :oO)O http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
  • I am starting the C25K program tomorrow. :o) It is a program that starts you off slowly to be able to run a 5K. It sounds like a good program. I'm not much into cardio either so I need something structured as well as something that starts out slowly. The first week you do a 5 minute warm up walk then jog for 60 seconds and…
  • Hello
  • This looks like something we have in Colorado called a Mongolian Grill. If it is similar to that (there is a long buffet style bar where you fill your bowl with whatever veggies/meats/noodles/rice/etc that you want, add the sauce that you want, and take it to the large circle grill where they cook it up while you watch,…
  • I take Midol. I am not a big proponent of taking pills but I definitely will take a Midol when I feel PMS coming on! I turn into a raving lunatic otherwise. 0 - psycho in no time!! Another thing that I do is make sure I drink LOT of water!!! I up my water intake from 64 oz. to 80-94 oz per day. I find that it seems to help…
  • If you love these cookies, you should check out the cookbook. I bought it after I saw him doing some recipes out of it on Rachel Ray's show. I LOVE this cookbook!!! I haven't made anything out of it yet that my family and I didn't love!!! And there is NOTHING in the cookbook over 350 calories! :o) WOOO HOOOO!!!!
  • I believe I have heard of this, just not by this name. Is this where you vary your calorie intake each day but maintain a calorie amount for the week? (e.g. Mon - 1500, Tues - 1700, Wed - 1400, Thurs - 1500, Fri - 1200, Sat - 1600, Sun - 1700... total for week 10,600 (instead of breaking that 10,600 into 7 equal parts of…
  • I have 3 birthdays in both March and September (March - my Son, my Husband and my Father September - myself, my Mother and my Brother). None that I can skip. What I did this year was make cupcakes instead of a full cake. I also made them with diet soda (YUM!!!!). I also get Sherbet instead of ice cream. I'm not sure of the…
  • That does make sense... :o) Kind of like doing squats... that might work :O) I will try that. :o) I don't know why I didn't think of that :o) Thanks!!!
  • Good morning all! ;O) LW - 223.8 TW - 222.8 Down 1 lb!!! :o) Slow and Steady!!! :o)
  • bump! :O)
  • Hello all! :o) Bumping for my weigh in tomorrow :o)
  • I am a member of an organization called the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism). We are a medieval recreation group. We research the middle ages and try to recreate the best parts as best we can (costuming, leather working, armor making, brewing, cooking, courtly graces, embroidery, music, etc.). To that end we all…
